I liked it for the timeless sensation that Kasler conveys through her interior decorations. Her concepts will always encapsulate some historical reference and it seems that all her clients are passionate about history too. Few times I thought to myself, well that's too much of a continental or super classic... But was never really upset by her colours choice and arrangements except for Port Clyde... It kind of felt very not what she was used to do...
All in all, I enjoyed the tiles work, colours subtle reminders... But not a Belgian sofas fan! Yes for the banquets and French styled beds and living rooms... Grabbing a few pieces from Flea Market of Paris wasn't a bad idea neither...
She is a colour / history master for interior design that is!

If you are related to the field, this can give you a good introduction to contemporary American designers...

As a whole, I didn't love the overly-styled sense of this book. There was one house in the Country section that had a wonderful first floor (Port Clyde, you took my breath away), and there were definitely moments of chinoiserie and art and vignettes that were somewhat pleasing. But mostly the spaces were way too glam for my taste. I did learn, however, that when you combine lots of velvet and plush carpeting, you get a look that immediately dates itself and screams for contrast in texture and quite possibly a good dose of practicality.
