I was very pleasantly surprised by Old Gold Mountain by Bradley W. Wright. It’s interesting from the very first paragraph. The book starts off mid story in a way that's intriguing and captivating. The characters are well developed and each scene is described richly and realistically. I’ve never been to San Francisco, but I definitely want to go after reading this book The city almost became a character in the story. Wright kept me on my toes the whole time and threw me for a loop more than once, ...more

This is a main character who is a mix of sculptor and art lover with a touch of cat burglar, stealing low end pieces of art, nothing too high end or difficult to fence, as his wants to make some easy money. Justin lives in San Francisco and has contacts both in art galleries and with fences and underground contacts. With a best friend, Ashna, who is a hacker and a somewhat on and off girlfriend, Valerie, who runs an art gallery.
A valuable, early work of a now up and coming artist has been stolen

Did Not Disappoint

This was an excellent book full of twists and turns along the way. I felt like I was on an adventure with the main character. We traveled the streets of San Francisco and then flew to France in search of a piece of art. The author did a great job keeping you in suspense. I really liked the fact that there was a couple of times I was really thrown off guard by what happened in the book because I had expected something else. Kept me on the edge of my seat.

Old Gold Mountain is a surprisingly good yarn. Wright has created the perfect blend of suspense and excitement. The pace of the story is quick and keeps the reader engaged, and his ability to move the drama from San Francisco to France was seamless. I appreciated all the great descriptions of San Francisco. It really made the story pop. A nice read for the summer.

Written like a native--this mystery thriller (evocative of Dan Brown) opens up San Francisco to those near and far. I can't wait to see what comes next from this promising new author!
