Canada's pre-eminent satirical commentator brings down the curtain on his hugely successful show in this instant #1 national bestseller.

Rick Mercer can always be relied on to provoke a strong reaction--but what he said one fall day in 2017 truly shocked the nation. In a rant posted on social media, the great Canadian satirist announced loud and clear that the current, 15

I absolutely loved this book. My prediction is that it will probably be a very popular holiday gift.

“Ranting has always been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. I come from an island of ranters. I love the process of taking a subject that is large and complex, and distilling it into a single, coherent, ninety-second rant.”

Rick Mercer is a Canadian icon. Fifteen seasons of the Rick Mercer Report is no small feat. He’s made us laugh, and educated us about all things Canadiana. But, m

I grew up watching This Hour Has 22 Minutes with my family and my favourite segment was Talking to Americans, hosted by Rick Mercer. Of course, once The Mercer Report started, we watched that too. Needless to say, I have been a Rick Mercer fan most of my life, but this was the first time I had ever read one of his books. He comes off on paper exactly as he does on television, smart, funny, and compassionate. I both laughed and teared up while reading this and I enjoyed every minute. Highly recom ...more

I loved this book!
Not only was it highly entertaining, I learned a lot of interesting things about Canadian politics. More importantly I learned that I need to pay more attention to Canadian politics.
I laughed out loud at the chapter about Norman Jewison. Read the book and you'll find out why.
I don't know if I can pass this book along....I may need to keep it for reference. I have a lot of questions now and I want to to try to find some answers.
So I've been entertained and educated.
Thank you Ri

I don't like doing this but I really didn't like this book. I was hopeful - Rick Mercer is an intelligent, thoughtful person who's known for the awesome stunts he pulls and the conversations he has with people across the country. But this book? Was a bit lazy. The show was on for 15 years and so the book just regurgitates some of the rants he did over the years in reverse order from present to 2004. Which means the first rant is kind of relevant and the last is... 14 years old. Throughout the bo ...more

This book is a collection of Rick's Rants over the years, with a few chapters interspersed with behind-the-scenes info about the Rick Mercer Report.

At first, I was thrown off by the fact that the Rants go backward in time, beginning with the most recent and going back to when Paul Martin was PM. But I got used to it, and soon was enjoying going back in time to the earlier rants as a sort of nostalgia trip. The recent rants feel pressing, important and relevant. I found myself getting worked up

It is a sad day when one of television’s beloved personalities retires from the small screen. Rick Mercer is a CBC legend and Jann Arden tormentor. The Rick Mercer Report gave us fifteen years of listening to politics that we could enjoy and understand. The clips about his adventures in every corner of Canada are wonderful and give a sense of national pride. Mercer will be missed.

I have read another of Rick Mercer’s books called “Rick Mercer Report: The Paperback Book” which looks at rants, epis

I prefer this book of rants to his earlier one, though reading them without watching him on TV strutting the alley, gesticulating, and (of course) ranting just isn't the same. This is organized in chronologically reverse order, from April 3, 2018 back to January 12, 2004. As always, Mercer skewers politicians, and Trudeau gets it, mostly for his numerous flubs. Anyone, however, who is beginning to forget and go soft on the years of "The Harper Government" (his own term for The Government of Cana ...more

I was so excited about this book! I’ve loved watching Rick Mercer on TV since I was a kid. He’s hilarious!

This book collects his best rants from his show. He has a segment on The Mercer Report where he does a 90 second rant about something. It can be about anything from politics to celebrities to how people drive. I loved reading the rants. I have heard many of them on TV but they’re so great to read. They are short, with each one only about about a page long, so it is easy to flip through this

Rick Mercer Final Report takes Mercer's greatest rants from across all 15 seasons. There are also added reflection pieces.

Very good read, only suggestion would have been to reverse chronological order. The book starts from his last rant and works back. I think I would have wanted it to start with an early rant and work towards his last rant so that ideas would build off on each other instead of seeing opinions regress. The rants also become a bit more irrelevant as political policies/people are

This made me so nostalgic for the show. I miss Rick Mercer, and I can’t wait to see what his third act will entail. I found myself looking up old clips from his show and smiling fondly as I was reminded of a man who made me much more politically active and engaged. It may be too much to say Mercer is Canada’s Jon Stewart - but for me, he looms just as large. And he made me laugh - hard - once again. Thanks, Rick!

4.5. I love Rick Mercer rants. So much that I had to check out the alley when I was in Toronto. RM gave me a lot of incite into Canadian politics and helped me laugh at the ridiculousness of our political leaders. The piece on Pierre Burton was priceless and I loved the Jann Arden part as well. Great short short stories. Thanks for sticking up for the military veterans RM. You’re a stand-up guy. Will miss the show.

Classic Canadiana - though because it reaches back so far I tended to rush through earlier rants. I also forgot how much the country's been through in the last decade and a bit.

But it's still Rick. It's still unvarnished common sense. And Canadians will always turn to his point of view about the ordinary everyday things and the extraordinary moments we've shared together.

So much fun to read.

I thought it would be fun to pick up, read a rant, and put down.

Instead, I found myself in a swirling vortex of wonderful rants that kept me thinking, "just one more, then I can put it down."

Mostly rants from the whole run of the show, with a bit of new material, some of which is laugh-out-loud funny. It's fascinating to look back at old rants and remember that yes, Stephen Harper really was as bad as I think he was.

He's hilarious - this is quite political but still a fun read. And he does a chapter on Jann Arden. As he should.

I give this 4 stars because I wanted something a little more memoir-y but this is all rants. Obviously the rants are great, I just wanted more.

A funny, interesting read. Rick made me want to spend even more time in NF and CAN more broadly. I also enjoyed that Rick appears to pick fun at everyone in Canadian politics, no one is safe.

So good, if you've never watched any of Rick's rants, you owe yourself this book. Entertaining, topical, and very very Canadian.

Whatever's making headlines in this country [Canada]; you can be sure Rick Mercer has something to say about it.

So, where did Rick get his start? Born and raised on The Rock - St. John's, Newfoundland, Rick grew up with a love of performing. As a teenager, he co-founded a comedy troupe called 'Corey and Wade's Playhouse.' And a couple of years later, dropped out of high school to join a clown trou
