Mystery man, recluse, finance guru… Virgin.

I was a shut-in for a reason. With too many secrets, too much to hide, and way too much at stake, I spent years in my mansion in the woods, never trusting a soul.

So, when a stranger showed up at my door, with her plans to save the world, I should have sent her away, like I’d always done.

But from the second she arrived, I couldn’t

NOTE: This coming year I have set a challenge for myself of reading one book a week that takes me out of my comfort zone. A book that may include one (or more) tropes (scenarios) that I avoid like the plague. Cheating. Older women/younger man. OW drama. Just to name a few. Nothing is off limits. I am taking a HUGE step out of the box I usually live in and charting a course into the unknown (HaHa). My reviews for these books will differ slightly from my usual as I will focus more on whether the

Unfortunately, this novella didn't really work for me.

The premise is really intriguing...reclusive, virgin hero + heroine running for city council...but the story suffered from little substance and development. With nothing to sink my teeth into, the insta lust/connection didn’t ring true and unfortunately, had me rolling my eyes.

Also, the writing is choppy and the dialogue is just downright awkward and stilted. It sounded so mechanical and robotic.

And while I think consent is incr

Loving the Secret Billionaire by Adriana Anders is the First Book in the Love at Last Series. This is the story of Veronica Cruz and Zach Hubler.
Veronica is running for city council and the last house she stops at to plead her chance for their vote is Zach. Zach is blind a a few years younger than herself but they have chemistry right off the bat. Zach keeps to himself not worried about how things look around him since he can't see and doesn't socialize. But when Veronica burst into his door th

This book could’ve gone terribly wrong for me. I’ve made it pretty clear that I’m totally over the billionaire trope. But, I ADORE the author, so I wasn’t about to NOT read the book when it came out. And as usual, I wasn’t disappointed.

First of all, just for the sake of full disclosure, this story was originally published in the Rogue Desire anthology. But even if you read it there, it’s worth a reread, becau

Veronica is running for local city council. She has no prior experience or proper funding but runs her campaign on pure passion to do right by the community. Her rich opponent has plenty of donors to fill his coffers so it's a massive uphill battle for Veronica to just keep up and get her message out there. Then her life literally changes when she overcomes any qualms about canvassing the last house in a neighbourhood. One that doesn't look very inviting but she can't leave any stone unturned wh ...more

Loving the Secret Billionaire is a short, sweet story. Just because it is a quick read, it doesn't mean it's lacking in substance.

Veronica and Zach's story is full of heat, and I mean panty dropping worthy! I loved both of these characters. I also loved how a knock on a door changed Veronica's life and set Zach down a road of discovery.

If you want to put a smile on your face and a little blush on your cheeks, Loving the Secret Billionaire is the book for you. ♥♥

This was a quick, fun, steamy read but I wish it had been a novel instead of a novella. We're missing out on Anders's usual wonderfully developed characters. Some necessary character growth was sacrificed because of the shorter structure. I have some questions about the representation of Zach's blindness and wish it had been further expounded upon. I loved Zach and Veronica as individuals and as a couple and wish their story had had more to it, as I didn't always understand their motivations or ...more

This review was copied from my romance novel review blog: Romantically Inclined Reviews

I originally read Loving the Secret Billionaire by Adriana Anders when it was a short snippet of a story in the Rogue Desire Anthology. Adriana Anders rightfully decided that the story of Veronica and Zach was one that needed to be expanded on (thank the Lord).

Novellas are interesting because you have to put aside some of the realistic progression of relationships in order to fit everything inside of a little

When I first opened this book to begin reading it, I was immediately disappointed. It was only 92 pages! That is not nearly enough Adriana Anders goodness to keep me happy. However, knowing it WOULD be Adriana Anders goodness, I forged ahead. I have two words for Ms. Anders: WRITE FASTER!
I normally don't like to read novellas because they are too short. They need more substance, more emotion, more character development.... just MORE. The only reason I thought this one needed more is because it w

FINAL DECISION: Disappointing and banal after a great description of what the setup for the story is.

THE STORY: Veronica Cruz is a teacher turned political candidate when she wants to be active in her community. A big underdog, Veronica is out campaigning door to door when she arrives at a house with a mysterious occupant. Zach is a reclusive man. Blind, Zach lives in his own world. But Veronica touches something in him and begins to bring him out. But Zach has lots of secrets including why he h

“Unique characters made this story a refreshing and delicious bite of a read”

I received an Advance Reader Copy for LOVING THE SECRET BILLIONAIRE written by Adriana Anders and voluntarily reviewed this book. Zach Hubler didn’t know what made him open the door, but Veronica’s voice pleading for help on the other side had galvanized him into action. Once this schoolteacher explained the reasons why she was canvasing his neighborhood, he couldn’t help but become insp

What a fun romance novella. This is the story of Victoria who is running for city council hoping to make changes. She comes across what seems like a run down home during her campaign and meets Zach, a secret billionaire. He is also blind. They have an instant connection that they can't deny. As they get to know each other Victoria learns that Zach is new to love completely. She is even his first kiss! As they start to fall harder for each other there is a side of Zach's life that he keeps hidden ...more

5 STARS!

I originally read this novella as part of an anthology and now as an expanded story. It is still a novella, but now with the hero's POV and some additional storyline. Rather than feeling expanded, the story feels enhanced - improving upon a story that was already wonderful.

I can't define exactly why, but I love reading about broken, scarred, or disabled heroes in romance. Because of that, I love the addition of Zach's POV. Reading his thought processes in regards to Veronica, his blindne

A great intriguing, well written story. It is well paced, written in dual pov, and provides a good mix of heat, heart, and drama to keep you turning page after page. Veronica and Zach have an undeniable instant connection. She is a preschool teacher who jumped into running for city council hoping to make changes. She is up against the perceived perfect family man with lots of financial backing when she wasn't thinking about the time, efforts, and money she would need to actually achieve this goa ...more

Great recommendation from Sarah MacLean. I enjoyed reading this short and steamy novella. The hero is a blind virgin dirty talker and had me one-clicking this baby before I could even blink.

I would have given this novella a higher rating if it were not for a couple of things:
1) I wish the story was a little longer -- I felt that things moved a tad too fast between the hero and heroine and certain issues (i.e. agoraphobia) should have been explored more deeply.
2) The epilogue should

Loving the Secret Billionaire is the perfect palette-cleansing light and quick read. The writing flows smoothly, the dual POV narration provides just enough insight into Zach and Veronica's minds, and the story is well-paced. There's just enough intrigue to keep the story interesting while staying staying in the "light" read category--no book hangovers here!

Loving the Secret Billionaire is a wonderful one-sitting read that leaves you with a smile. It was my first Adriana Anders read, but it won'

Zach is my hero! He falls for Veronica almost immediately. She is a few years older and is running for public office in an attempt to help the working class families. Zach chooses to help her platform and through out the course they fall in love she being his first intimately. There is a lot of underlying secrets that leads to doubt but in the end everything is out in the open and they get a fresh start. I loved this short, hot read. Zack and Veronica have an intense attraction and their chemistry just sizzles, because of this the sexy scenes are scorchers. The story provides a good mix of drama, heat, and heart. The book was unique because the hero is blind and a virgin. Having a character with a disability is becoming more common (which it should be), but it is still very refreshing when you discovers a book that features it (especially the main hero). An excellent read that I wish had been lo ...more

I loved this story Zach and V's story was electric. The instant connection between these two was all consuming and the intimacy was off the charts. A great read and the secondary characters made this book. V's best friend O'Neal made me laugh and I look forward to reading her book next.

This is the first book in this series by this author. This is a short romance read but the author has packed a lot into the pages. This book is definitely sexy and sometimes heart felt. Amazing characters, you will just want to read more about. I can't wait to read more from this author in the future.

Zach and Veronica…
The councilwoman who fights for a cause, but has given up on love.
And the recluse… Blind. Alone. Liking it that way?

Were there ever two people who were less of a match?
Well, this match struck Fire!

Sweet, sexy, and just a little bit edgy… This older woman, younger man story held me spellbound.
All of us have broken pieces. Love is the glue.
Bottom line: Really looking forward to the rest of this series! 5 stars
