Lucky Charm

Rate this book
She needs a fake fiance and I'm just the guy to play the part.

I moved from Ireland to New York City to pursue a career in acting.
My family has a lot of money, but I want to make it on my own.
One day I'm at Starbucks, minding my own business, studying for an audition.
Suddenly a beautiful, curvy stranger heads straight to my table.
Her ex cheated on her with her best friend, she says.
And they've both just entered the coffee shop!
Please pretend to be my boyfriend so I don't seem so pathetic, she asks.
Well, I'm an actor, aren't I?
So, how can I resist the pleading request from those pretty hazel eyes that match her name?
I'll do her one better - I pretend to be her fiance.
Soon, we're caught in a game of one up-manship with her snotty ex friend.
Like all my acting gigs, I play this one very well.
It turns out that Hazel brings me luck - and I do the same for her.
But this is all just pretend, right?
We're not really going to get married on St. Patrick's Day like we keep telling everyone, are we?

Maybe I'm playing the role a bit too well, because I find myself believing it's real.

Lucky Charm is a full length standalone novel with no cheating and no cliffhangers, but with a very happy St. Patrick's Day and ever after, and a whole bunch of Irish flavored steam.

I checked this book out on a whim and I have to say that I'm sorry I did so. It was filled with a lot of clichéd tropes, which would have been fine, but the story wound up being more told to me than shown to me through the actions of the characters, so that it was difficult for me to form a connection with them. It felt like it was being forced into erotic wording and situations, just for the sake of titillating the reading audience. This was a quick read, thankfully, but I think I will be avoiding the author in the future.

Honest to god I only picked this up because the main guy is Irish and I love it all!
So I like smut right along with the best of them but jeeze, this was just jumping sex straight from the beginning. When the girl should have been pissed off that her best friend was banging her boyfriend she was still FOCUSED on the wet kitty kat lips of her friend, first of all why are you even focused on that?
So When she runs into them again in the Starbuck she asks a stranger to be her boyfriend Of course he takes it to the next extreme and announces that they are engaged... From then on it gets hot really fast, they do start to fall in love IMMEDIATLY, I will say that it is all a but unbelievable but it was cute that they do go from being just strangers and fall in love.

Was this written by a teenager?

No, seriously? Was this written by a teenager? It had to be. This was one of the worst books I've read in a long time. The writing was flat out ridiculous. It was so immature I felt like it had to be written by a very young person with no life experience what so ever. I honestly felt like I was reading some drama story written by a 15 year old that took place in high school. There is no way this was written by an adult. I rarely do not finish books, but I could not bring myself to read any further. Trust me, do not waste your time on this one.

Good Read

This was a pretty good read. Both Liam and Hazel were good, well developed characters. I wouldn't say this is an Insta love story but their lust turns to love very quickly. Her ex Scott and former best friend were a piece of work and I am glad they got what was coming to them. Wish we knew the age of Liam, just knew he that he was possibly as old as her father. Had a hard time picturing him in my head because of that. Otherwise this was a really enjoyable story for me especially after some of the duds that I have read lately!

A fast read with good characters. Hazel works for a law office with her best friend Brittany. She catches her boyfriend Steve having sex with Brittany on her desk. Liam is from Ireland and came to New York to become an actor. He is at Starbucks going over lines for his audition when Hazel sits at his table. I thought is was a good storyline with an HEA ending.

Lucky Charm was a good read, I like when Hazel said “I have two goals for tomorrow: making Liam fall head over heels for me, and making Brittany the most self conscious person at her own housewarming party.” ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Star read

Happy Reading

OK, just...no. This book started out promising. Hazel catches her long-term boyfriend and her best friend cheating on her. The alleged best friend works in the same office, so she can't completely avoid running into her. When Hazel runs into them in a coffee shop she asks a stranger, Liam, to just go with it. Liam who had already been attracted to Hazel when she walks in pretends to be her boyfriend in front of the exes. Liam and Hazel continue to see each other and start a whirlwind, hot relationship.

Now here is where I quit reading so that I would not do damage to my Kindle. Ex-boyfriend can't find his current squeeze and goes to the office looking for her. He runs into Hazel and starts spewing hateful, vicious crap about Hazel but says she does screw better and maybe they should give it another shot, and by the way I know your boyfriend is fake and he told me he is only with you for the sex. Nothing unusual for the villain of the story right? My problem...Hazel actually listens to the a..hole! Yep, that happened. So when Liam shows up a few minutes later to surprise her she yells at him and storms off. And I am done. I'm sure they ended up getting their happily ever after, but I don't care now. She doesn't deserve it.

Hang with me on this one, guys, because this is going to get crude. (Not my fault...I plan to include quotes from the book.)

So, picture it: It’s St. Patrick’s Day, and I’ve read just about every book featuring hot Irish dudes I can get my hands on. I scroll around on Amazon for a while and notice that this book, Lucky Charm, is selling like crazy. I mean, like CRAZY. I think, what the hell, I’ll give it a read. And then, bad things start to happen. Really, really bad things…

Bad thing #1: Our heroine, Hazel, walks in on her boyfriend having sex with her best friend. She’s understandably upset. But then she says this about the traitorous friend:

“She’s not even covering her private parts—she’s showing them off. Her wet, throbbing lips leak out some sultry juices I can’t help but be weirdly drawn in by.”

First of all, gross! Wet, throbbing, leaking lips DO NOT create a pretty mental picture. Second of all, this is not a normal reaction. No one in real life would be “drawn in” by the visible bodily fluids of the woman who is banging her boyfriend. But this is still at 1% of the story, so I endure and read on.

Bad thing #2: Still at 1% of the story, and this is Hazel’s inner monologue:

“He’s quite a bit older than me--in fact, he looks almost old enough to be my father.”

This is THE HERO she’s talking about! I have nothing against older man/younger woman relationships, but I NEVER want to read about a heroine who says the hero is old enough to be her father. No comparisons should EVER be made to the father. Again, gross! But still, I read on…

Bad thing #3: The hero claims his first thought upon seeing the heroine (for the first time) was:

“I’d love to have her come over here, straddle me, and ride my cock in public.”

She’s A STRANGER! I know dudes are visual, but Jesus, this seems extreme for someone you’ve only just seen from across a crowded room, doesn’t it?

Bad thing #4: The hero, Liam, goes along with the fake fiance thing to preserve the heroine’s dignity in front of the ex boyfriend who cheated on her and her bitchy ex friend. I’m fine with all that. But then they agree to go together to the cheaters’ housewarming party and continue the charade? Why on earth would anyone do that? You put them in their place once and made it clear that you weren’t a pathetic sad sack. Well played. Why continue the charade? Why give the cheating bastards another single second of your time and energy?

Bad thing #5: The ex best friend is a horrendous bitch who seems to delight in tormenting Hazel for absolutely no reason. I can’t STAND girl-on-girl hate for no good reason in romance novels.

Bad thing #6: The heroine masturbates while thinking about the hero, then the hero masturbates while thinking about the heroine. I have to read about it both times in great detail. I wouldn’t mind so much if it were happening later in the book. But this was going on at 2% of the story. Seems a little...sudden, doesn’t it? And one masturbation scene wasn’t enough? Two is overkill.

Bad thing #7: They’re having sex at 3% of the story. Seems super sudden and not very well thought-out, but I read on. Until I get to this:

“I slowly pull his boxer briefs down revealing the biggest cock I’ve ever seen. It’s comparable to that of a porn star’s. The sheer power his hard tool gave off was enough to get me to start drooling, something I’ve never done at the sight of a penis.”

“Don’t let that drool go to waste, Hazel,” he whispers to me.

And I’m out. It’s not enough to say that he’s well-endowed. No, he has to have this massive, porn star penis. And don’t even get me started on the “tool” thing. The whole sex scene reads like a 12-year-old boy wrote it. And drool is never sexy. Never.

Long-story-short, in case I haven’t made it abundantly clear, I wouldn’t wish this book on ANYONE. If you choose to read it anyway, don’t say I didn’t warn you.

5 HUGE SHAMROCKS (STARS) FOR THIS 1!

I was looking for a special St. Patrick's Day weekend read to celebrate and cuddle up under the electric blanket....I live in Vermont peeps. THE TEMPS ARE IN THE TEENS!

Kindle Unlimited suggested this one as I'm enjoying a month of it free, why not indulge, right?

Well my oh my, what a wonderful read!

Hazel is cheated on, viciously verbally abused and heart broken by both her best friend and her boyfriend. So in a moment of desperation to not let them think they are getting into her mind any further, she asks a sexy total stranger to pose as her boyfriend. He kindly takes it to the next extreme by announcing they are engaged!

But this Irish Billionaire turned wanna-be NYC actor, Liam, starts falling fast for Hazel within minutes of her seating her beautiful self next to him at the local coffee shop. What happens next is a whirl wind romance for the next few weeks that make both of them question if that either of them really want this to be a "Fake Engagement."

With tons of titillating, thrilling, carnal complications of remarkable S*E*X...it will leave you desperately wanting to grab your significant other and ask to reenact the scenes!!!!

Worth every moment I read it. And when I purchase a book to keep it in my kindle library for enjoyment at any time....IT'S THAT DAMN HOT AND GOOD!

And I'll add this thought for others that don't think love can take you by surprise and envelop you in less then 48 hours. It can. It did. It happened to me. And 17 years later, this Lucky Irish Lass is still happily married to her Italy Charmer.

Well done Eva Luxe.
Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Fake Fiance turned real love...SIGN ME UP! Hazel goes through a nasty breakup where she ends up losing her boyfriend and best friend at the same time. Of course that leads to months of hate painting and anger lol. Then one day she walks into a Starbucks and everything changes for her. She is confronted with the option to either face her demons or fake a romance, of course who wouldn't go with option 2! She meets a guy (Liam **swoon**) and he pretends to be not just her boyfriend but her fiance. After some trust issues they end HEA.
The issues I had with this were Liam is considerably older (Hazel says that he is old enough to be her dad) yet when confronted by her ex's (boyfriend and best friend) there is a small one line sentence where his age is brought up but that is it. Hazel believed that this man who was old enough to be her father actually worked at the Starbucks where she met him. Now I feel like that would have been a perfect opportunity for her ex best friend to open up on the digs (which she is famous for throughout the book) but she doesn't. Not to mention who doesn't have some red flags go up about a man most likely in his 50's working at Starbucks but looking like a god? Anywho.... Hazel also appears to be strong through the majority of the book and you can see the love Liam has for her and she even acknowledges it on multiple occasions but then her ex bf says one thing and she implodes? Just doesn't seem to fit her character.
Overall this was a good book with minor issues that probably only affected me.

While on line at Starbucks, Hazel is trying to hide from her ex-boyfriend and ex-best friend who are now together. She sits at the closest table so she doesn’t look like she’s pathetic and alone. Luckily for Hazel, the person already at the table is a tall, gorgeous Irishman named Liam. She asks him to help her by pretending they are together. Liam has the gift of blarney and quickly weaves an entire back story and engagement to present to the exes. The ex-best friend seems to go out of her way to be mean to Hazel and Liam happily puts her in her place. By the time they leave the coffee shop, they have started down the path of love.

There are several references to Liam being an older man. Hazel says almost as old as her father. He certainly doesn’t act that way. It’s hard to picture a man that age just trying to break into acting, which is what Liam is doing. Also, an older man doesn’t “prance” down the street when he’s happy. A clearer picture of Liam would have been good. But still, this was fun, upbeat story that can easily be read in a couple of hours.

I received this story as an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book. This was a fast paced sweet read just in time for St Patrick's Day. Liam and Hazel were a sexy and hot couple with just the right touch of Irish luck on their side. I really enjoyed the quite way in which they meet. Hazel finds out months ago that her boyfriend and who she considered her best friend had been carrying on behind her back. She has been trying to avoid them since then. She is in a coffee shop and they walk in. In order to appear unfazed by them she sits down at Liam's table and asks he to play along with appearing as if they are a couple. Liam agrees and the two begin an actually relationship shortly after. This was a fun read and I couldn't put it down until I finished it. There were a little bumps along the way since Hazel's ex and former best friend kept giving them such a hard time, but that didn't last long. Great HEA.

An Irish fake romance. Humorous and romantic at the same time. Well written with likeable characters and an entertaining story line. Hazel and Liam meet in a local Starbucks. She was hurt when she caught her ex cheating with her best friend and now they're walking into the coffee shot together. Desperate she asks Liam, a total stranger if he will pretend to be her boyfriend while they are there. He agrees and says since he's an actor, why not take it further and pretend they're engaged. This chance encounter turns into so much more and the chemistry between them is amazing. She quickly became his lucky charm. He's not only an aspiring actor but a wealthy Irishman to boot. A cute story that was fun to read and will put you in the Irish spirit. I read a reader copy and voluntarily chose to write a review.

As always Eva Luxe delivers a story that is just a must read and that takes you to the edge and captivates you. The use of words makes you want to read it in one session to know what comes next. The twists are crawling in on you and keeps your mind surprised. It is a fast paced story that is very sweet and romantic.
The two characters are so likeable in their describtion and they develop nicely through the story. It is again a fake fiancee story but this is a bit different in it approach and storyline.
A story that contains cheating, exes, heartbreak, new beginnings, love, trust, betrayal, passion, hot chemistry and emotional ups and downs. A story that brings a lot of emotions up in the reader.
Absolutely worth the read.

🍀🔥💗 A Sweet Romance 💗🔥🍀

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a sweet romance with a lot of sizzle.
Liam is a sweet alpha type but not over the top . He is surprised when Hazel sits down at his table in a cafe. When he realizes the reason he plays a long with Hazel and her need to show her ex-boyfriend and ex-best friend that she is doing fine moths later after their big fall out.
Liam knows their is attraction that is shared between them and for a moment he thinks everything perfect.
Hazel has a few run in with her ex and she allows him to get into her head and she starts to let the insecurities take hold. Liam doesn't give up on her and he shows her just how much he loves her.

It was a cute, insta-love story. Not much St. Patrick's Day stuff but, oh well. I just like the festive books. I didn't feel the chemistry as much as I'd have liked. They brought up his age sporadically so I'd forget due to his occupation and living off his parents. Seems immature for a man old enough to be her dad. I liked the characters themselves though, Liam was a nice guy and I fell for. I also enjoyed the interactions between them and her ex, especially the meet cute. I could feel exactly what she was feeling. Overall it was pretty good but lacked that build up. I don't need much but, I have to know the characters a little before they love each other. It's a hard sell with me and I just wasn't quite sold this time.

i read this book as part of an arc program. I really enjoyed thie romance between Hazel and Liam. I thought Liam was funny and sweet. Hazel had a hard time in her life lately and when she finds herself about to be confronted by her ex-boyfriend and ex-best friend who he cheated with, Hazel panics and sits down at LIam's table at a coffee shop and begs him to play along. Liam is surprised to find the beautiful Hazel sitting with him, but he proceeds to act as if they are dating. Things go very well in their act and Liam asks for Hazel's number so they can see each other again. This was a sweet and funny romance. I loved how they really did like each other and kinda fell into a relationship. Another good one from Eva.

I like Eva books this one was shorter than normal and they are all pretty short sadly I was surprised to reach the end. While I enjoy this author sometimes the story can be a bit much I would like to learn more about the family of Liam it was too general and it brought down my enjoyment of the book. The miscommunication that causes the main issue was ridiculous I know this author could have come up with a better drama to get the couple back together not sure if this book was just a short to get it out there but it seemed to be. It was not the best book I have read by Eva Luxe but it was not a bad book just short and slow on details.

Hazel hated her job but it paid the bills, her passion is her art. Her life got much worse when she found her boyfriend and her bestfriend having sex on her work desk. While trying to avoid the two of them she meets a slightly older Irish man who she asks for help. Liam is following his dreams of being an actor and one day while research a role he meets a beautiful woman who asks him for help and he is only to happy to help. This story has it all romance, a few laughs, a few tears, a nasty B*tch and cheating Ex. I had trouble putting it down until I had finished it as it was such a great story.

This charming read offers plenty of steam and heart melting sweetness. A fun plot powers this very entertaining book. Likable characters share a sizzling chemistry that just sparks off the page. Hazel finds herself trying to not to look alone and pathetic to her ex-boyfriend and her ex-best friend, while at Starbucks. They are now a couple after cheating and backstabbing Hazel. In desperation she asks a stranger to pretend to be her boyfriend. This starts Hazel and Liam's romance. A fun and very pleasurable read. I'm posting a completely voluntary, honest review after reading this book.

Well now, Hazel…
Seems you’re moving up (thank goodness) to an Irishman with more charm in his pinky than your thumb-diddling ex will ever have.
Even if he does say you’re engaged… when you’ve never seen him before in your life…
The strangest things happen at Starbuck’s.
Wonder what’s in that green tea he’s drinking?
At any rate, you seem to have been blessed with a bit of Irish luck today.
Hold on to your dreams.
And hold on to Liam.

This book was a little predicable, but altogether enjoyable.
Bottom line: Liam and Hazel are wonderful. 4 stars.

This is a quick, fun, sexy read. Hazel catches her boyfriend and best friend together, and she is devastated. At a chance meeting in a coffee shop she ask a sexy stranger,Liam, to pose as her boyfriend when her former boyfriend and best friend show up. Liam is a great guy and helps her out by going along with the charade. This leads to a fake, real relationship. Miscommunication leads to misunderstandings, which could end it all. I read this one in one sitting. There are some typos, but nothing that is too distracting. I read with KU.

Lucky Charm: A St Patrick’s Day Irish...

This book was promoted a lot by Facebook, and I thought I’d give it a shot. I liked premise, but as I read further in story, it just fell flat for me. I was happy she broke up with that spineless buffoon Scott, and that witch Brittany. She was never her friend, and I’m glad she got what was coming to her. I wasn’t expecting such hard core sex from them. I was hoping it was more romantic, considering he’s Irish. I think I’ve read too many of these type of stories. After a while they seem the same. Glad it ended happy.

I love it when a romance has a little humour in it and this certainly has it. I was intrigued as soon as I read the blurb, I mean, meeting a complete stranger in Starbucks and pretending your engaged, doesn't that piquet your interest, as I said it did me, and boy did it keep me turning the pages, the characters are awesome too and have great chemistry, so, not only was it a fun read it was also hot and steamy.

I received a copy and I am voluntarily leaving my own honest opinion

This book was on the road to 4 stars. I thoroughly enjoyed majority of the book but then.. and there's always a but - the conflict. that moment in the book where the main characters fall apart due to lack of communication. My opinion of the heroine dropped extremely fast when she believed someone who treated her so poorly and lied.I completely understood why you would believe him...NOT. Moral of this: ok read, could have been a lot better.

This was a sweet and fun story. After the ultimate betrayal by her boyfriend and best friend Hazel gets Liam, a complete stranger, to be her pretend boyfriend. Will a fake relationship be all they'll ever have or could it become real? I enjoyed the two of them together and wanted them to realize their potential. I recommend reading this one.
