From first smiles to first steps, this book captures the joy in each moment. Watch little ones grow from one month to twenty-four months and discover all of the milestones they reach along the way in this delightful board book filled with bright photographs of adorable babies. The Baby Firsts series from Flowerpot Press is the perfect introduction to books for even the youngest of children. Each book features lots of friendly faces that draw baby's attention and build their love for, and familiarity with, books--hopefully planting the seeds that last a lifetime!
This board book filled with minimal text and full-page colored illustrations allows readers to watch various babies grow. Although there are several different infants featured here, the stages they experience are universal, and ones that parents and caregivers will recognize, having watched for them in their own offspring. From a clenched fist at one month in the first photograph to a smile at three months--AH!--and then learning to stand at 12 months, and even standing on tiptoes at 24 months, all of these growth markers are worth noting and worth celebrating. As anyone who has spent much time with little ones knows, they change so quickly, and those first two years of life are times for onlookers to watch and savor those moments. They won't come again.
Watch Me Grow is a series of photos of babies as they grow from one month to twenty-four months old, showing babies doing increasingly complex activities. Babies, I've found, love to look at babies, and this book should be quite popular among the board book set.
Baby milestones book. I was surprised by a couple of the milestones, like standing on tip toes. That was one I had never even thought was a milestone to look for. This is a simple one to read with the little one but also nice for the parent to see the milestones the kids should be at. But I'm going to give it a 2 star because I just wasn't super impressed. It was ok. Not great.
Edit to add: Since there's no image of the front of the book on Goodreads, I wanted to say that the pictures in the book are of actual babies, not drawings, which was fun to see such a variety of kids featured and to be able to have my daughter see the babies doing the actions which just gives a different connection than a drawing might!
I'm sure that every baby will have different landmarks of growth and they won't be as cut and dry as the month increments delineated here, but I really love the pictures of real babies in this book. Babies love looking at other babies, and these pictures are bright and clear.
Ages of babies in the pictures don't match up with the actual babies. Seems like they just wanted to put out a book quickly instead of actually trying.
