This was fun! I enjoy cozy mysteries every once in a while and so far I have been enjoying the Cozy Corgi Mysteries series. This is the second book in the series but it could easily work as a stand-alone. Fred and Watson are both delightful characters and I thought that the mystery in this book was really well done. I had a great time with this shorter read.

Fred is still working on getting her bookstore open and trying to get ready

As a cosy mystery lover with two dogs, I knew that I had to listen to Traitorous Toys the instant that I saw it for review in the Audiobook Boom newsletter.

I am glad that I took the opportunity.

Set in the midst of the Christmas season, Traitorous toys was a fun little cosy mystery featuring Fred (Winifred) and her adorable curmudgeon of a dog, Watson.

Since I am an absolute lover of dogs, I could entirely relate to Fred and her special bond with Winston; after all, there is no love like that

The quaint town of Estes Park is beginning to look a lot like Christmas. It looks like a perfect picture postcard. But the picture changes abruptly when Fred and her friend, Katie, dong a little holiday shopping, enter a toy store to discover a man taking his last breaths. It’s not all candy canes and ho ho ho anymore.

Once again Fred is tangled up in a murder investigation. This time she’s not a suspect, just a witness, but her friend is at the top of the list. She won’t be told what to do and

I am totally addicted to this endearing series! The small town is the perfect setting for this cozy. The town's people will suck you in and gossip galore can help solve mysteries. Fred, the main character, with her sweet, but moody, dog Watson will win your hearts as amateur sleuths. I highly recommend this series. I just wish there was a directory for characters and names.

This is the second book in the Cozy Corgi Mysteries series by Mildred Abbott and again I had a great, entertaining read with it.

The main heroince, Fred, is again in trouble when this time the local toy store owner's son is lying dead on the floor of the shop. And it's Fred's new friend Katie who is accused of murder or at least a heavy supsect.

The events and the crime case in this book were pretty thrilling and it

The second book in the Cozy Corgi is a delightful and cute book. A good read for a stormy day or relaxing at the beach. The cover is again darling and draws into the story at once. It Christmas time in Estes Park, Colorado and Fred has been busy getting her bookstore ready to open in January. Watson accompanied Fred most of the time. He loves to eat people's food and holds grudges if he perceives a wrong. Fred takes timeout to go shopping with Katie. They visited the toy store and Katie finds ...more

Woo Hoo…Back with Winnifred and Watson for another mystery in Estes Park.

It’s Christmas and amongst the festivities we have a murder.

Watson…the only thing he likes as much or better than treats is Fred. Something about a dog in the story always tugs at my heartstrings.

Winnifred opening the Cozy Corgi book store is a fun element to the story. Adds a little something extra for me.

Uh Oh, Winnifred can’t even go Christmas shopping without finding a dead body and Officer Green is not exactly on her
In this second Cozy Corgi mystery, Fred is getting her bookstore ready to open, Christmas is coming, Watson is still shameless about demanding treats, and Fred and Katie find an (almost) dead body in the toy store, bashed over the head with a nutcracker.

In Traitorous Toys, we learn more about the town and its quirky residents, and Fred and Watson become more familiar (and more dear) to the reader. There's the matter of a certain very date-able Sergeant, a hunky Park Ranger, a possible business

I enjoyed this more than book 1, which isn't to say I didn't like book 1. I did. But book 2 was better. The murder made more sense, and I enjoyed seeing Fred investigating. Plus her run ins with the rude and mean female police offer from the bottom of the roster were anger inducing but I enjoyed them because one of these days, Fred will have her revenge.

The narration once again was great and I no longer feel the need for a

Christmas is fast approaching and Estes Park, Colorado is beginning to look a lot like a winter wonderland snow globe scene. Fred Page is looking forward to opening her bookshop soon. She can't wait to see the fireplace going and cozy chairs for sitting and reading. Her friend Katie has been helping unbox and sharing ideas while working at the local coffee shop. Katie's enthusiasm for Christmas has infected even Fred, who never had much family to celebrate with. Fred will be attending a family ...more

Going to the dogs.

Fred and her Corgi Watson are a pair well matched in helping solve murders in Estes Park. Good characters that I hope to develop more as the series progresses.

4.5 Stars for another winner in this new cozy mystery series. Fred is back, using her natural curiosity to solve an unusual murder. Her sidekick, Watson the corgi, is still the star of the series in my opinion! He’s utilized quite cleverly, with his recalcitrant, doggish behavior helping to move the plot along. Trust me, he ain’t Lassie! I do love Fred too, a mature woman with life experiences I can relate to, strong-willed and independent, kind and empathetic but still a flawed human like ...more

Another wonderful cozy corgi mystery. The mystery had enough twists that kept me guessing a little each chapter. I just feel closer to Fred every single time we live inside her head. I'm excited with the friendship developing with Katie though I know Fred has been burnt by a friend in her recent past. Branson...I can't get a good read on him yet. Imagine there being something mysterious in a mystery...hmmm. And will we ever figure out what all the issues are with Susan. Was she not hugged enough ...more

In this story Fred is Christmas shopping and finds a dying man in the toy shop. At first Katie is accused of the attempted murder but Fred knows she is innocent. She decides to track down who did it and why, while still getting her bookstore ready for opening.
I love these coy mystery stories. Just right for snuggling up under a blanket in front of an open fire.

Good mystery. For once, I couldn't figure it out but it also didn't make a whole lot of sense to me either but not bad.
The love-ish triangle continues but I don't have a great feeling (& I have suspicions) about one of the potential suitors. I'll trust Watson's opinion on this one.
Fun little series.

This was just as much fun as the first one. Tons of fun, Christmas spirit, hint of romance, with a great mystery to keep up the intrigue. I would definitely recommend this to the cozy mystery readers. The narrator only added to the fun, she did an amazing job.

Another murder in Estes Park

This is a well written, well plotted mystery with interesting, evolving characters and an adorably stubborn corgi. This is the second book in the series and I look forward to reading more of Fred and Winston and their adventures.

Another enjoyable cozy with an awesome dog

This is the second book in the Cozy Corgies mystery series and I’m pretty much a convert. As I said in my last review, I’ve never felt an affinity for cozies, preferring grittier mysteries and thrillers. (Who knew I was so hung up on sex? These books have none and I still love them!)

Fred the new owner of the Cozy Corgi bookstore is settling into life in Estes Park, preparing to open her new shop. She’s friendly to everyone, but some in the town are still

Getting More Enthusiastic!

I was not too attracted to "cosy" mysteries , when I began the first of this series , Cruel Candy" Now , I have realized that I may need a "cosy" every now and then , as detox .
So , despite my desire to argue with Fred about her dog training methods , I admit I relaxed and enjoyed , which I suppose is the idea

If you love a great Corgi Christmas Cozy, you will be ever so pleasantly surprised. This is an awesome cozy mystery, both writing and narration were awesome.

Fred is a delightful character, and I plan to listen to the other corgi mysteries as well, good stuff!

Fun & creative, I enjoyed listening from beginning to end, definitely recommended! :)

This is the second in this series and I think you should read the first to get the full effect but it can also stand on its own. Watson is still my favorite character, the little pup is just too cute. Fred and dead bodies...she just must investigate. That is especially true when it looks like her friend Kate is going to be blamed for the murder.

This one pulled me in faster than the first book and felt a little more 'mystery' than the last one because it kept me guessing more. That didn't take
Winifred (Fred) Blake is creating a new life for herself and her Corgi, Watson, in Estes Park, Colorado, having moved close to her family. This includes her uncles, her mother, stepfather and an assortment of step-family including multiple twins.
Fred is still getting to know the neighboring shopkeepers, as well as her extended family.
You do not need to have read the previous book to keep up with what is happening.

She is finally ready to stock the shelves of her own store after an unfortunate

Thank you, Mildred Abbott!
For giving us another Cozy Corgi Mystery to read through on a cold evening perhaps with a hot chocolate at hand.
As much as I loved the first mystery, CRUEL CANDY; TRAITOROUS TOYS is even more engaging, with a deeper mystery and a surprise ‘solver.’ The reader discovers further insights about the other Estes Park shop-keepers, Fred’s colorful, gossipy uncles, the movie star handsome police Sargent, the young and seemingly adoring park ranger, the earnest and lonely pet

Cute Corgi & Owner Starting Over

I'm on my 3rd book in this series. I think it's a cute book. The characters are believable and the plots are interesting. The main character is a young woman who has experienced the life of an accomplished career woman. Life has thrown a few curves her way a d she made a decision to start over. Fortunately her career choices have enabled her to be financially comfortable. She moves to a tourist town in Colorado with her Corgi. That little dog is all

Traitorous Toys is book 2 in the Cozy Corgi Mysteries. This is the first book I have read in the series and had no problem following along.

I read the book because the cute corgi on the cover and I'm really glad it got my interest.

The author has a great way of writing that had me following along as Fred (Winifred) went from place to place subtly investigating the murder of Declan with her corgi sidekick, Watson. Love all the twists that the story was taking as the story went along. I will just

Listened to the audiobook version of this. Not available to review.

So this is the second book in the series and I've listened to both. The narrator has become the main character Winnifred "Fred" to me. She does a great job narrating the story. This book takes place around Christmas which is a holiday I love. The idea of another murder taking place in this sleepy little town is probably far fetched but it's fiction and it doesn't matter to me. There is a little bit of a pattern so far. A truly

Reading the Cozy Corgi series is pretty much all you need to know about Mildred. In real life, she’s obsessed with everything she writes about: Corgis, Books, Cozy Mountain Towns, and Baked Goods. She’s not obsessed with murder, however. At least not at her own hands (nor paid for… no contract killing here). But since childhood, starting with Nancy Drew, trying to figure out who-dun-it has played ...more
