Diving and Subaquatic Medicine

Rate this book
Now in a larger and more attractive format, the third edition brings the presentation right up to date. Over one-third of the chapters are either new or totally rewritten. The new material covers diving fatalities, diving environments, the femalediver, psychological problems, long-term diving disorders, cardiac diseases in diving, submarine medicine, and drugs and diving. Topics carried over from the previous edition have been heavily revised and edited for currency and completeness. Despite the great changes, this new edition retains the strengths of its predecessors. The emphasis is still firmly on practical management. The coverage is broad, with a perspective which ranges from this historical to the present, from the amateur to theprofessional; and which includes pathology, prevention and therapy of each disorder. Above all, the style is highly readable, with concise, authoritative explanations interspersed with relevant case histories. The burden on the reader's memory is eased by summaries and revision aids. Those who know the book will waste no time in acquiring this update; those who do not will soon be convinced that this is a 'must' for their personal bookshelf.
