I did not know this was book three in the series until I was midway through. I thought many portions felt like rushed explanations of back story, until I realized it was. However, this was a pretty good novel in the series. Addison and Luke get married. She sees a person kill her self, and their are a couple of murders. Addison seems a little irresponsible, like when she goes to a mysterious address by herself, while there is a murderer on the loose. All in all it’s a pretty good cozy mystery. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to be an early reader in exchange for my honest review.

Blackthorn Manor Haunting by Cheryl Bradshaw is the 3rd in the Addison Lockhart paranormal mystery series.

First, let me thank NetGalley, the publisher Kobo Writing Life, and of course the author, for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Series Background: (Warning – May contain spoilers from previous books)
Addison Lockhart is a medium, like her mother and grandmother before her. Her talent only really manifested itself when she inherited Grayson Manor, upon her mother’s passing. As a child, her gifts vanished when she was convinced they didn’t really exist. Now she is learning to use her gifts to help others. Her boyfriend, Luke, is a restorer of historical homes. He knows Addison’s story and tries to help her. Her Grandmother has recently returned to her life, and showing Addison how to use her gifts.

My Synopsis:
Addison arrives at Blackthorn Manor on her wedding day, only to find the spirit of a woman in black waiting for her. Although her grandmother assures her that the dead cannot hurt her, Addison wonders who pushed her out the second story window. Thankfully someone unseen cushioned her fall. Still, it's not a great beginning to her special day.

As Addison investigates the mysteries of the manor, she finds the spirit of a young boy, who tells her he will be leaving soon. Two spirits, a manor with a lot of secrets, and the owner a rather cantankerous old woman who refuses to answer Addison’s questions. She has her work cut out for her, and there are more deaths ahead.

My Opinions:
Okay, the first two books in this series were entertaining light reads. This one was really good. It had much more depth. The plot and twists were better, and although some of the dialog was a little stilted, overall, I enjoyed this book.

Maybe I’m just getting used to the characters, but I am looking forward to the next one!

I read all three hoping for better...

I read the first book. I wasn’t super impressed, but I wasn’t completely turned off by the book either, so I read the second and third book hoping for better. Still wasn’t thrilled. The main characters never really get fleshed out or grow, and sometimes devolve. I felt absolutely no emotional attachment to them whatsoever, and by the third book I should be invested in their lives. Won’t be bothering with anymore in this series, as I have no expectation of improvement.

First of all if you get married in a dilapidated old house and then you and you new spouse go your separate ways because you want to check out ghosts then you probably will have a doomed marriage. That’s not what the book is about but my first thought was what a horrible woman to be so caught up in the mystery that the thrill of being married is practically forgotten. So they being said. I didn’t like the MC in this particular story

Blackthorn manor

I have read other books by this author but none of the Addison Lockhart books.
I have often wondered how a person could come up with a plan for a story and then develop that into a book. What amazes me is how this author can write so many different series and stand alone books while making them interesting to read. It's a mystery to me!!!!!!

This is the second book with Addison I've managed to pick up and am really enjoying the series. You can pick it up as a standalone, so don't worry if you haven't read the others.

If you a like a little paranormal mystery then this series is for you. Ghosts and murder and strange happenings will keep you reading page after page.

A paranormal series about woman who helps spirits move on after figuring out what what is keeping them here and what they need to move on.

Addison Lockhart is at Blackthorn Manor for her wedding to Luke. What should be the happiest day of her life is instead one of unease as something is off at Blackthorn Manor and after seeing a woman in black on the edge of a cliff she knows that there is a spirit she needs to help.

These are great little paranormal mysteries. I hope there will be more books in the series.

You would think that after everything that’s happened thus far, that she wouldn’t go to another manor. I know I wouldn’t. But she did and was then forced to endure another danger. But as always, she made it through and sent said spirits where they needed to go.

In this installment, Addison is getting married. While the wedding itself goes off without a hitch, the time shortly before and after are another story. Before her and her new husband leave the manor, the owner is killed, and Addison is pulled in to help solve the crime by a couple of deceased individuals. In case you aren't familiar, Addison has a gift. She can see the spirits of the dead. They show themselves when they are stuck between here and the afterlife, often because of traumatic circumstances around their deaths. A few close people know of her gift so she usually tries to hide that fact from the general public, which just causes suspicion when she knows things she shouldn't know.

In addition to the mystery in this book, it is also a turning point in Addison's life. Several things happen that will change her life forever, not to mention the fact that she's now married. There are some complexities in regards to the mystery, but its not hard to follow. The great reveal is a surprise. This is a more serious read. Not a lot of humor involved. The characters are mature and smart. There is no silliness in this book. And of course there is the supernatural aspect. This story involves young children, which make it a little more heartening, and a lot more emotional. There is no sex included, but there is a small amount of mild-ish violence. (Nothing gruesome or too graphic.)

I thoroughly enjoyed this tale, as it transcended the typical ghost story to deliver a superb whodunit experience. The plot was riddled with red herrings—there were more than I could count! Each twist and turn kept me on my toes, making it hard to put the book down.

Kudos to the talented narrator, Jane Oppenheimer, whose compelling vocal delivery infused each scene with vibrancy and emotion. Her skillful portrayal of the diverse characters brought them to life in a way that made the story's intensity soar, capturing the essence of their struggles and triumphs brilliantly.

What a way to throw a wedding, lol

This was really an interesting story. Little ghost or paranormal involved more so because that's Addison's "thing". She can see, hear, feel environmental changes when a spirit is around. She and her fiance, Luke, wanted to get married at this particular location because it has family sentimental importance in Luke's family. His grandparents were married there and, in fact, her engagement ring had once been his Grandmother's engagement ring and if that's not enough of a reason, Addison had a vision, years ago. She'd seen the people who would be there at her wedding, the view of the Ocean which was where they were holding their wedding. Outside, in front of the same view, this Ocean. Oh yeah, Addison is very paranormally talented....she also gets visions of past events and it runs in the family. Her Grandmother Marjorie shares most of the same gifts as her Grandaughter. This gift is usually passed down Mother to Daughter and has been this way in Addison's maternal line for many generations.

While getting ready for her wedding she is visited by the spirit of a young woman. Which takes her on a quest to solve a murder that's all tied up in the past. This story was not bad. It was perhaps rather a little too neatly played out and somewhat predictable but everyone likes a ghost story, wedding stories, and murder mysteries and you get a little bit of all that in this story. The only person that I felt was left out of a happy or neat ending was Whitney. The cook/housekeeper who was just a sweet woman and happy in her life and marriage seems to be the true victim in this story and except for perhaps one thing that may help sustain her in her grief....she is the one I felt sorry for the most.

Initial thoughts

I was looking forward to reading the third book in the series because I loved the previous ones. And I genuinely loved this one as well.

Description

Addison and Luke are spending some time at Blackthorn Manor. One morning, gazing out at the ocean, she sees a woman in black, her body transparent. To get a better look she leans out over the windowsill when she is pushed. She grabs the of the window but it’s too late, she is falling.
Who tries to keep her from digging into the manor’s past? Who is the woman in black?

Addison is still nosy and stubborn and determined. She does her best to find out who the woman is, how she died and help her move on. She keeps getting better and better at handling her gift as the story goes on.
Luke seems only just an afterthought though. He is there when needed but doesn’t add anything to the story.
Marjorie on the other hand is an important person, she is aa stubborn as Addison and helps her a lot. Like grandmother like granddaughter really.

This story is also set in a manor house, a haunted manor house just like the previous ones. A house with a dark past, full of secrets.

All in all this was a gripping story, full of twists and an ending I didn’t see coming. Bradshow can keep up the suspense pretty good, made me guessing throughout the story. I will read the following book(s).

I preferred the first two in this series. This one drifted a little too far over to the unbelievable side in a couple of places for my liking. I have to be able to at least partly believe what I'm reading and it can be a pretty fine line. I enjoy reading paranormal stories but if they step across "my" threshold, I just get irritated by them !! Notwithstanding this, I do have the next one in my wishlist and will definitely stick with the series and learn what happens next for Addison. I had left it over 2 years since I read the last one and had pretty much forgotten a lot of her past story; perhaps I should have reread the second one again before this instalment.
There were mistakes in this: writing flare not flair and she wrote drudge a couple of times when it should've been dredge. They was missed in one sentence and apostrophes were misplaced in a few places. And yes, she STILL does that highly annoying use of "Mmm....kay" in this story, which still means bugger all !! It wasn't horrendously presented, however.
When Addison first encountered Whitney in private, I really didn't believe that Whitney would suddenly blurt all her personal business out to a complete stranger as she did !! And Catherine's personality as mein-host won't be winning her any TripAdvisor awards anytime soon !
I still enjoy her characters and her books are always easy reading, too, with plenty of dialogue.

This is the third book in this series and it is as fantastic as the previous two! Addison is getting married at the Blackthorn Manor which held a particular place in her new husband's heart. Addison has the gift of being able to see spirits and to help solve their problems so they can cross over. She can see the past as well as the future. Her Grandmother, who she is very close with also with the gift has finally decided to show Addison how strong her gift is, feeling Addison is ready to know it all now and receive the "special" book. There is a lot of mystery around Blackthorn Manor and the spirit of a woman and a young boy there that Addison tries to help. The owners of the Manor are nasty and not very friendly and When Addison tries to find our more about who the spirit is and why she didn't cross over we end up with a couple of murders in the present as well as a cold case from the past. There are so many twists and turns in this storyline, you never know who the actual murderers are in post the cold case or the present cases at the manor. This is a page turner thriller that gets you involved from the first page! I can't wait for Addison's next adventure. I received and ARC from the author but the opinions expressed here are strictly my own.

Addison is at Blackthorn Manor for her wedding. As she's getting ready to put on her wedding dress she looks out of the window and sees a woman in black standing on a cliff. Bending forward to get a closer look, she feels a hand on her back and wakes up outside, strangely unhurt, surrounded by worried faces. She's a psychic medium and senses the woman is a ghost who needs her help. Addison comes from a long line of psychic women and the only one she can talk to is her grandmother, also psychic, who is there for the wedding. They decide the woman in black needs closure in order to fully go into the afterlife so Addison does some digging into the history of the Manor and its inhabitants.
This is the third in the series, but can be read as a standalone. It's a quick, featherlight read, but, as much I liked the premise, I couldn't get into the characters or the story, I was bored - maybe had I read the previous books, I would have enjoyed it more, but I don't think so. Sorry!

I’ve enjoyed the previous two Addison Lockhart outings, liking the combination of murder mystery and the paranormal. Like all the author’s books, they’re easy to read, well written and filled with characters you root for.

This third novel follows the same path as its predecessors with Addison picking up visions of a lady dressed in black and a young boy, Billy, in and around the house. It’s clear the lady needs help, but why and how?

It’s just what you need on your wedding day.

Matters are complicated by Catherine, the owner of Blackthorn Manor. Far from a welcoming host, she goes out of her way to get Addison out of the place. But she’s not going anywhere until she’s solved the mystery. Assisted by her grandmother, she sets out to get to the root of the mystery with surprising results.

I must admit I felt some sympathy for Addison’s new husband, Luke, who was side lined at one point while she went off to investigate the mystery. Otherwise, it was another enjoyable adventure that started slowly, but soon built up a head of steam.

I’m looking forward to the fourth in the series.

this is a totally different genre of book for me and I have no idea why I even downloaded it when I saw it was a freebie but boy am I so happy I did. this book was fantastic and deserved more than 5 stars. the character descriptions, plot line and story development were off the charts but the best part was the way the story kept you intrigued and reading not wanting to stop until you reached the end. it was fascinating, suspenseful and kept you on the edge of your seat so to speak trying to figure out what the next plot twist would be.
I am not a reader who likes mystery style books but I just found this book to be so interesting, so captivating that I just couldn't stop reading page after page until I finished it.
I absolutely recommend this book even to those like me who don't normally read this style of book.
One of the best written stories I have ever read. can't wait to read more in the series.

Love ghost stories!

I really enjoy reading ghost stories. But I'm pretty picky. I guess that's why I fell in love with Cheryl's book. It checked all my boxes of likes. I don't like the stories to be so far fetched, even a good imagination can't believe! Let's face it, we are talking about ghosts. If I did believe in ghosts, I would want them to be like Cheryl's. Looking for help. Trying to find answers and someone who will help and cares. Sounds corny, huh?? I don't want to read about frightening ghosts, that want to do you harm. Where going to sleep, after reading the book, is impossible! Lol. Anyway, if I've made you a little bit interested enough to buy the book, then I've done my job. I read approximately two books a day. I love to read!! That's why Kindle Unlimited has been such a miracle to me. Thank you again to the authors who have books there and maybe more might try it. Thanks.

Another enjoyable read for me!

Addison and Luke are getting married, just like the way she saw in her vision earlier on. It was supposed to be a special day that should not be marred by the supernatural. But that was not how things happened. Another supernatural murder investigation that needs to be resolved has presented itself. Oh, joy.

Addison has evolved in her powers and personality. I like that she continuously remained headstrong and determined in helping ghosts. Despite the challenges she encountered here and other complications, she persevered. I was surprised at the conclusion of the story, I did not see it coming to be quite honest. And this is probably one of the reasons I loved this series. The mix of supernatural and mystery really got me hooked and the writing flows nicely. The endings are always such a twist! I need more! As is with the first 2 books, finished this in one sitting!

Blackthorn Manor Haunting by Cheryl Bradshaw is the third book in the Addison Lockhart series. Addison has a special gift, she can sense unsettled spirits who need to resolve a traumatic event before they can go on to peace. This book opens on a very special day for Addison, her wedding day! As she looks out the second floor window she sees a woman wearing black walking along in front of the old mansion. Addison leans out the window to get a better look and before she knows what has happened, she has been pushed out the window. She wakes up on the porch below the window with no scratches or bruises. There are some secrets in this old mansion which needs to be told. I don't want to post spoilers, but if you are a fan of the Addison Lockhart series, you do not want to miss this book. There are a couple of events in this story which will change the series for Addison!

On Addison Lockhart's wedding day, she keeps seeing a woman dressed in black. She knows it is a ghost, but she was hoping that this wouldn't happen on her wedding day. Later that day, she looks out her window and sees the woman standing on the cliff above the ocean. As Addison is trying to stop her, some one pushes her out of the 2 story window. Luckily for her she wasn't hurt at all. As she starts to ask questions about the Blackthorn Manor of it's owner, she is asked to leave. Then the owner is murdered. Now Addison has to find out who the woman in black wants and who killed the owner. This is a story of a troubled family, lies and deceit, and much more. There is also a surprise at the end that no one saw coming!

I’ve always enjoyed Cheryl Bradshaw’s books, but I was never a fan of stories encompassing the supernatural before I decided to try this series and as usual Ms Bradshaw delivers on every level: likeable, well developed characters, an intriguing mystery with an unpredictable outcome and a writing style that is both smooth and easy to read along with a little dash of humour. Of the three books so far in this series I enjoyed Blackthorn Manor Haunting the most and look forward to reading a sequel in the near future. So, if you’re looking for something a little different and don’t want to compromise on quality I recommend you give this series and this book a try. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed.

A wedding, ghosts and hauntings. What more could a reader want? Throw in a murder mystery too. Addison and Luke are getting married at Blackthorn Manor, a place with a special meaning to Luke. Right from the beginning Addison sees a woman outside with long dark hair and a black dress. The Manor is suppose to be closed to everyone but the wedding party and she is unfamiliar to Addison. t In true Cheryl Bradshaw fashion, there are many twist and turns before the surprise ending. You never know where she is going to take you or where you are going to end up. This is why I love her novels. I did receive this as an ARC but the review is honest and I would recommend this book to people who like this genre

Weddings and murders don't mix well

Getting married is supposed to be a new start, not the scene for several murders. Addison and Luke are to be married at the same place as his grandparents, but its not the same place anymore. The proprietors were cold people not wanting to communicate with the group.
Addison sees the ghost of a woman who killed herself many years ago and begins to ask questions. This starts her visions of other family members and when she starts asking about these things it leads to someone tying to murder her.
Then other people die and Addison is getting too close for the comfort of a murderer.
An excellent book for all readers of the supernatural world.

Book Three in the Addison Lockhart Series is a great new addition to this excellent collection! Once again, Cheryl Bradshaw exceeded my high expectations and left me eagerly awaiting book four. Addison Lockhart is a psychic medium and her compassion and empathy for those she helps makes her a very engaging protagonist and adds a strong layer to all the books. It also adds that new "something" to this thriller mystery and makes it stand out above others in this genre. This novel begins with Addison's wedding and twists and turns the reader around so masterfully that I was blindsided at the ending!! Loved the book and definitely highly recommend! On to book four, please!

Wedding day you expect to having the jitters, but not feeling like someone is watching you. Anxious maybe because her grandmother hasn’t shown up yet. Luke knew of her gift of communicating with those that had passed on.
The Manor is where Luke’s parent were married, now in a state of needed repairs. Visions of a woman and a young boy, who are they, no one wants to talk. Her grandmother gives her a journal, to help her call others as needed. The first take her to her wisdom animal. She has much to learn. Will she set the ones in the Manor free, interesting, captive story of a spirit gift, and those now and past living in the Manor.

Addison and her family and friends are at Blackthorn Manor for a special occasion. While dressing, she sees a young woman dressed in black gazing out at the sea. Then she is interrupted by the rather obnoxious owner of the Manor B&B, Mrs. Ravenscroft. When she looks again, the woman has gone. In her desire to help, Addison learns about family tragedies and ends up putting herself in danger. Her grandmother passes on a "book of enchantments" that will help her with her visions, and also saves Addison from danger at one point. This book was just a bit darker than the previous two, but the writing still sucks you in from the beginning. I am going to continue with this series!

Another great story! I enjoyed it and all the intrigue though I had it figured out before the end. I have to say one thing that irritated me just a tiny bit - Addison keeps going off on her own or withholding things from Luke even though each and every time she promises him she won't do it again. It makes Addison appear childish to me.

But that is a minor thing and I totally enjoyed the story. I expect to read the 4th book tomorrow night if my eyes stop burning. Of course, then the sitting around tapping my foot waiting for the 5th book begins and we all know I'm not much good at waiting. :)

Very good thriller, murder mystery. Leaves you guessing.
