Grant Morrison has been working with DC Comics for twenty five years, after beginning their American comics career with acclaimed runs on ANIMAL MAN and DOOM PATROL. Since then they have written such best-selling series as JLA, BATMAN and New X-Men, as well as such creator-owned works as THE INVISIBLES, SEAGUY, THE FILTH, WE3 and JOE THE BARBARIAN. In addition to expanding the DC Universe through titles ranging from the Eisner Award-winning SEVEN SOLDIERS and ALL-STAR SUPERMAN to the reality-shattering epic of FINAL CRISIS, they have also reinvented the worlds of the Dark Knight Detective in BATMAN AND ROBIN and BATMAN, INCORPORATED and the Man of Steel in The New 52 ACTION COMICS.

In their secret identity, Morrison is a "counterculture" spokesperson, a musician, an award-winning playwright and a chaos magician. They are also the author of the New York Times bestseller Supergods, a groundbreaking psycho-historic mapping of the superhero as a cultural organism. They divide their time between their homes in Los Angeles and Scotland.

Grant Morrison's 18 Days Volume 5: The Fall - Sarwat Chadda (2017)

Genres: Graphic Novel/ Fantasy/ Mythology/ Science Fiction
Pages: 143
Rating: 8/10

Themes: War/ Honour/ Rivalry/ Clash of the Titans

Opener:
“Run… run! But there is no escape! My sword thirsts for you all!”

Summary:
Bheesma continues to wreak havoc across the battlefield. This volume finally has the awaited clash between Bheesma and Arjuna.

Verdict:
First up, I am rather sad there are no further volumes to this series. And I am including in this review my thoughts on Grant Morrison's 18 Days #26 too. This volume builds up to the epic clash between Bheesma and Arjuna. Bodies continue to pile up and the Pandavas need a plan to stop the juggernaut called Bheesma. Towards this, Krishna sees an opportunity to use Shikhandi to abet in Bheesma’s downfall. I was enjoying this sci-fi rendition of the Mahabharata and found it disheartening to see that the series was called off midway through. I would have loved to see how the clash between Arjuna and Karna would have panned out in this setting. This comic series was a joy ride while it lasted.
