I received a free copy from the author and voluntarily reviewed.

The Monolith is the fifth part of the Synergist serial and I was curious to see how it would wrap things up. This serial only is the first book of this series and there will be two more books, so this whole serial actually reads more like the first book than a complete series. So this isn't the end of the series and things are still pretty open at the end.

In The Monolith Amaya travels back to Tara to save someone who got stuck there

That was definitely not the ending I was expecting. I loved getting the chance to see Tara and learning more about its people and its culture. I’m also glad to see that Amaya has found resolution to her confusing feeling about Vasily. Though this is the end of the tale of the Synergist, the overall story doesn’t feel quite complete yet. We have answers, but there are still questions left unknown, so I’m guessing that we will be revisiting Amaya, Vasily, the warlocks, Candy, Sabin, Jules, and all ...more

Sabin transports Amaya back to the land of Tara, but instead of landing in the wetlands where she had almost drowned last time, she is deposited on a tree in a painful position! As she jerks the other way, she falls from the tree but a small Fae child catches her and puts her back on a branch. Sabin says goodbye as the child’s mother hits her on the foot with a rolling pin! Amaya explains that she is trying to rescue Harlesque (Candy) away from Azotar and is working with the king on a plan. So Z ...more

I usually don’t review books and I read a LOT, but this was just awful. Firstly, this is not exactly a reverse harem - like at all. Second, the ending was pitiful. Nothing was finished and the reader was left with more questions. Finally, I find the female characters calling each other derogatory obscenities to be extremely degrading. The only reason I gave it two stars rather than one is because it was well written, and had the storyline been better developed it could have been a great

I’m sad to say that this is the last of the Synergist series book 5, although I have a feeling that there are going to be more books with some of these characters well I hope so hint hint, it just didn’t feel like the end. I loved this book well the whole series actually so if your a first time with Chloe Adler then you need to read this series from book 1 to understand the characters and the story. I can’t wait to read more from this author and I highly recommend this book it’s well worth the r ...more

I really enjoy this series and all Chloe Alder books are well written and interesting. This is the fifth and last book in the series and if you have been waiting for the series to end in order to read, then you should start now! This book itself was not my favourite in them all because I was left with more questions and I really hope that we get to read more about Amaya, Vasily and the brothers do I can get some answers! Though out the whole series I really liked Amaya’s friend Jules, up until t ...more

An interesting story with magic and romance. The ending definitely leaves it open for way more books. Most questions have been answered but there is so much more still to learn. Hope to read more of Amaya in the future.

I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of the book.
