I loved this story. It is such a wonderfully written story.
A pregnancy that should never be, brings the mob crushing down into Alexa's life. But even when the worse things happen love can come through.
Elias is the Mayor's son. He has never gotten along with Buddy (the Mayor), but they stay out of each other's way. But when Alexa becomes pregnant and the mob is threatening the one person he loves because of Buddy. All bets are off.

The plot was mediocre. The romance wasn't clear. The suspense was not intense at all and was wrapped up in a way I saw from the beginning. The characters were not well developed and experienced no growth or change, other than circumstances.

Elias is too alpha for me, it was irritating. Also, it has the 'love at first sight' trope in it and I wasn't a fan. Alexa is also not to my liking. Maybe they will change/improve as the story goes, I don't know.

This was an appealing and intriguing book and one which I thoroughly enjoyed reading. The various twists and turns only add to the enhancement of the storyline. As far as Alexa believes, there is no chance she can ever become pregnant, while Elias, once he hears he is to become a father, is determined to do everything in his power to be worthy. But while Alexa and Elias come to terms with what Fate has brought them, they have to contend with outside influences.

So... I read it. All the way. (I had to skip around a bit about 65% into the book). I was kinda disappointed in this book. In the woman in general. So... slight spoiler if you havent read it. So hear me out. She got pregnant. She says she is not going to keep the baby, she is gonna give it up for adoption. BUT she is so worried about what everyone thinks about her in the office to the point of it being unhealthy. She keeps going on and on about not keeping the baby but goes to Elias ...more

I liked Alexa and Elias, but I didn't love them tbh. I felt like there wasn't enough depth to their relationship in regards to why they actually loved each other. It seemed mostly physical for Elias and due to the fact that Alexa was pregnant. However, saying that, the first scene where they meet and the bar and then go up to the balcony was very hot, and I enjoyed the first look into their oncoming relationship.

This is a well written thriller with everything you could wish for....the mob, painful but funny family Christmas, a one night stand that becomes so much more, an unplanned pregnancy, lots of steam, not too much violence, and best of all....love.

B.B. Hamel delivers another masterpiece! This one an emotional tour de force!! As someone who has actually been in Alexa's shoes being told my chances of getting pregnant were very slim I found her feelings and emotions believable.
