I'm taking points off my score because of a flaw in this book. There were several words in italics, so I assumed there would be a glossary at the end to explain the terms. No glossary. I'm an ardent anglophile, so I didn't have a problem, but children reading this book may not know that a bobby is a policeman or that hundreds-of-thousands are sprinkles that you put on pastries. Otherwise, the story was okay, but it wasn't really about a visit to Great Britain, it was about a May Day celebration.
I very much enjoyed reading A Visit to Great Britain a Golden Look-Look Book.
This story follows a young family, especially their little boy and girl, as they prepare for a May Day Celebration and explore an old castle.
The author has some words italicized that are common in Great Britain but not as common in other places. The glossary on the back of the front cover is a very helpful tool for students who are not familiar with words like "bobby" and "hundreds-of-thousands."
The story is lovely and the pictures are beautiful. I am happy to add this book to my classroom library.
