Breakfast is an unconventional and fun cookbook created by the editors of Extra Crispy, a website devoted entirely to all things breakfast. Amazingly, the tasty recipes in here are only the second best thing about the cookbook. The most special thing about it are the essays peppered throughout. These are short, easily-digestible stories that are positive, heartfelt, and even laugh-out-loud funny. I’ve read every single one and have loved them all.

Breakfast is not only the most important meal, but also the best meal, no matter the time of day. The cover, bright as sunshine (or an egg yolk) holds inside oodles of fascinating information and loads of recipes. The vast majority are not what one would call health food but attention is paid to more nutritious fare such as oatmeal and smoothies. The perfect addition to any coffee table (as one might expect, coffee is a subject this hip and cool cookbook covers) and a fab gift idea.

Good book. Some of the essays a bit unnecessary. I’m going to try making the ramen carbonara soon. I recommend.
