This friends-to-lovers romance sizzles but then fizzles...
Cassidy Trevor has spent several years denying her dreams of travel and graduate school in order to stay and help manage her family's quilting shop.
Matt Wolfe followed in his father's footsteps and became a St. Caroline firefighter, although he struggles to manage his job with his ADHD.
Cassidy and Matt have known each other for most of their lives since their parents have been long-time friends. Matt has harbored a secret fla

The second book in this series, it is of benefit to have read Hearts on Fire as this story is a follow-on. Matt Wolfe fell into firefighting because that is what his family did. Despite having come from a loving family, no one has any real expectations for Matt other than that he is player and doesn't take life seriously. However, Matt's feelings and sensibilities run deep and he is tired of having to dumb down to the lowest level of expectations. Cassidy, on the other hand, has a good business ...more

Sigh ... this book just swept me away to its fictional locale with its authentic cast of characters. This romance focuses on Cassidy and Matt while also encompassing the lives of just about everyone in their picturesque small town. Cassidy's sister, Becca, is engaged to Matt's brother, Jack, from the previous book in this series. Their ultra-slow developing romance has far-reaching ramifications for both their families, and I loved the way the author didn't shy away from addressing the tough que ...more

Cassidy loves her family and the quilt shop, but wants to see the world. Matt, a firefighter, has the reputation as a playboy, but is very involved in helping his family and community. Both of their families have warned them not to think about getting involved with each other. When they co-chair the Winter Festival together, they become friends and later friends with benefits. I received a free copy of this book from eBook Discovery. This is my honest and voluntarily given review. I would give t ...more

4 3/4 Stars!
I have to start by saying that I absolutely loved Hearts on Fire.
I really liked both Cassidy and Matt. I could empathize with what they both had to deal with in their lives. I really felt for Matt and appreciated how the author describes his ADHD. It kind of broke my heart that he felt less than his brothers. That he was just a body. Part of that was his parents’ fault. I actually got really angry with Cass’s mother for warning her away from Matt for Becca’s and Jack’s sake. I though

This is a nice and interesting read. Cassidy works in her mother's quilt shop and takes care of the business aspect in their little town. But she finds herself wanting more- going out of town, furthering her studies.
Matt is a firefighter in the same town and also the son of Cassidy's parents friends. They sort of grew up together but not quite as friends.
They found themselves co-chairing a holiday event together and their friendship sort of started. From friends they moved to friends with bene

I liked this cute and heart warming romance. It captures many of the good, bad and sad aspects of a small community. The romance unfolds slowly, but I liked how Matt went from a long ago HS crush on Cass to a real friendship and romance. I felt quite bad for Cass, her family, esp her mom, really did not seem to value her both as an employee with a business degree nor as a mature adult able to make her own decisions. Matt also seemed to have family that had never built up his esteem given his ADH ...more

After reading Hearts on Fire and really enjoying it, I was excited to get back to St. Caroline. I had no idea how much I would end up loving Matt after meeting him in the first book. His ADHD-mind was described so well and I loved how Cassidy became a calming presence for his grief and distraction issues. There was a lot going on peripherally, which drew focus away from the main romance and also caused some lag in the pacing. I imagined it's purpose was to set up future story lines and ch

I loved these two characters Matt and Cassidy in this story. They both have so much to offer not only to the story ,but to each other. Matt is a firefighter and has to deal with his ADHD.
. He 's not planning on settling down . Cassidy has taken on more responsibility with the family business then she wants to. And is looking forward to finishing college. They both realize that they need to be with each other. Matt puts a plan together and moves to Texas where Cassidy is going to school. Has a g

Cassidy is the one the family rely on for the quilting business but is finding her heart isn’t quiet into it, she’s always yearned to leave her home town.
Matt went into firefighting following in the family footsteps he’s the regular love em leave them never thinking a relationship will work for him.
The two are thrown together after both families volunteered them to sort the gala etc out.
A nice story but at times I found it was lengthy.

Cassidy and Matt are so different that it’s seems impossible for them to even work together. But when they have to organise the Winter Festival they discover a chemistry between them. But can they risk putting their families in an awkward situation if they have a relationship? Will they find happiness and a future together? A very intense and emotional story. I received this book for free from eBook Discovery. I voluntarily review this book. This is my honest review.
I couldn’t connect with the characters and found the story development to be too slow and superficial for my liking, which made it difficult for me to remain engaged. I attempted to finish Two of Hearts twice considering it has been rated highly by other reviewers and thought I may have missed something, but unfortunately I just couldn’t get there.

Received a copy via LibraryThing for an honest review

Families can be sheer murder! In every family there is one that gets the least attention, not because they are not wanted but because they never demand attention. In the Taylor family that is Cassidy!
Matt has his work cut out for him because his heart wants Cassidy.
A tender love story made difficult by relationships and family expectations.
An excellent story line that is well written.

A well written book with a heartfelt story line. The characters are strong and well developed and the story flows quickly and smoothly. The author brings drama and romance and fills the story with tons of emotions. I enjoyed reading Cass and Matt's story.

Julia Gabriel writes contemporary romance that is smart, sexy, and emotionally-intense (grab the tissues). She lives in New England where she is a full-time mom to a teenager, as well as a sometime writing professor and obsessive quilter (is there any other kind?). If all goes well, she’ll be a Parisienne in her next life.
