One of my favorite authors, Toni Morrison, once said, "If there is a book that you want to read, but it hasn't been written yet, you must be the one to write it."
I took that advice to heart.
While wrapping up an entirely different novel about four friends in Chicago, Mia Keys found her way into my mind, relentlessly knocking on door of my subconscious until I inevitably let her in. The story she shared with me was one that HAD to be told. She nor I would have it any other way. While Mia is indeed a mysterious physical force to be reckoned with, she is still very much soft, vulnerable, and in pursuit of what so many of us want out of life: love and happiness. Unfortunately for her, secrets from both her past and that of her fiancé threaten to derail that.
It is with this great joy that I present Mia Keys to you all. Not often enough are we presented with STRONG, INTELLIGENT, and SUCCESSFUL women of color, and I wanted to be a part of that change.
Thank you ALL for the support. If you haven't already, please introduce your friends and fellow bookworms to Mia Keys!
One love,
