4 Second chances Stars

Fast Justice was a sweet second chance romance with tons of action. My heart hurt for Malcolm in the last book. He was still hurting from Rowan calling off their relationship and now he was stuck working with her. So going into this book I knew I would have a bit of a problem with Rowan since she broke Malcolm's heart. However I really ended up liking Rowan. She was relatable. Smart, and sweet, still I had a hard time with the fact that she didn't tell Malcolm she was sorry and wanted a second chance. I would have like some groveling on her part since she hurt Mal so badly. Instead Mal had to make the first move. Malcolm on the other hand I fell madly in love with. He was strong, smart, protective, and just an all around great guy. I love how he was all in with Rowan. OMG the action in this book was spot on. I was biting my nails, freaking out, wondering how far the bad guy would go before the heroes saved the day. The answer was pretty flipping far!!! Fast Justice was a great Romantic Suspense read and I can't wait to read Victoria's book!

Finally, finally, finally.

‘Fast Justice’ reminds me of all the reasons why I read Kaylea Cross’s books and having ploughed through the somewhat lacklustre stories from the previous stories in this series, having Rowan/Mal’s tale kick my enthusiasm back to life (measured in terms of the loss of sleeping hours) has been beyond a pleasant surprise. The hints of their broken romance in the previous book had gotten me intrigued and Mal, who is predictably gun-shy about starting up with Rowan again, finally gets his due…in a story that provoked a range of emotions from me.

Apart from the thoroughly engaging suspense, Cross writes about a woman who is willing to own up to her mistakes, who swallows her pride and grovels because she knows she’d left a heartbroken man in her wake…and finally goes after what she wants. I loved the excruciating moments of tension between Ro/Mal, the reluctant truce that breaks down because Rowan decides to shake it all up and her lead role in trying to build them back together again as she tries to mend the damage that she had done to them. For this reason, I couldn’t help but love a woman who’s brave enough to show this sort of maturity when too many cowardly characters that have recently come across my feed have nearly made me thrown several books against the wall in frustration. (Proverbially speaking, because I use an e-reader.)

By and large, this was a compelling read. The entanglements with the Veneno Cartel are woven deep into ‘Fast Justice’ and the developmental arc is more tightly spread over the last few books. In fact, I was surprised at how much of the events that happened in the previous books spilled over into this, wondering if it might be somewhat difficult for ‘Fast Justice’ to be read as a standalone. Cross does provide some explanation—though some parts might still be confusing to readers who step in at this point in time—and without shying away from the brutality of cartel activity, throws in a few twists and turns that helped balance the angst of Rowan/Mal’s situation.

The hasty conclusion after the climax and the loose threads that aren’t tied up by the end are probably my only complaints. It’s evident that Cross intends to continue this arc until the baddies drop dead one by one, but it’s going to be a wait that will span several books before this happens. But until that happens, I’m happily going to go back to the good bits that had me gnawing down my own teeth.

FAST JUSTICE is a great second chance romance all about realizing what you’ve lost once it’s gone. Rowan and Malcolm dated for a few months before Rowan got scared of how much she was feeling for Malcolm and she pushed him away. Now a year later she’s working a huge case against the Veneno cartel and she’s thrust back into contact with Malcolm. Rowan is your quintessential workaholic who has given up everything in her personal life to try to make her demanding father proud. I felt so bad for how things ended between Rowan and Malcolm, especially for Malcolm who just wears his heart on his sleeve. These two definitely had some obstacles to getting back together, both emotionally but also externally as they try to stay safe from the cartel. FAST JUSTICE was another great action packed romance from Kaylea Cross.

[TW: rape]

As I was reading this book, I realized that I actually haven't read RS for a long time??? Who am I-

Anyway, Fast Justice is about exactly that: delivering fast justice. Or attempting to, at least. Our heroine, Rowan, is an Assistant US Attorney who's prosecuting a notorious drug cartel member, and in that process she finds herself having to work with Malcolm, a DEA agent, and the man she broke up with a year ago and the one she couldn't forget.

There was a lot of tension, both from the high profile case and also from these two. Malcolm was really hurt when Rowan dumped him, and he wasn't really over it. I appreciate the switch in the story--it's always the heroine who's hurt in the other books I've read. I love how they resolved that conflict--I LOVE COMMUNICATION (!!!). I love how Malcolm just bare his heart out even though Rowan hurt him once, and I love how Rowan finally decided to stop being scared and trust her feelings for him.

Overall, it was an entertaining ride. I can't wait to read Victoria and Brock's book!

E-ARC is received thanks to the publisher via Netgalley.

Kaylea Cross DEA Fast series is a fast pace action romance that will keep readers wanting more. This time you are meeting Rowan Stewart strong Assistant US Attorney and Special Agent Malcolm Freeman is FAST Bravo. They both have feeling that never went away even after Rowan decided she wasn't ready for a serious relationship. Fast Justice is book 6 but the author is able to bring readers up to date quickly without covering the same topics in the same style as the first 5 books in the series. The second story is still unknown ending but that is what will keep readers hooked until the last book is finished in the DEA Bravo Series.
This book is a perfect beach read. Readers can savor it or read it in one sitting loving every second.

Justice will be served!

Malcolm is the point man for FAST Bravo and has been living for his work after being rejected by the woman he thought could be his future. When some information comes in about a cartel they are trying to take down, Malcolm suggests a person who can help get justice - Rowan a Assistant US Attorney. When Rowan left Malcolm it was for frivolous reasons, but reasons she thought were justified at the time. Now he’s made a reappearance in her life and shutting him out a second time feels harder than it did the first time. When her life is in danger, Malcolm and the FAST team step up.

An amazing second chance romance filled with suspense and action which kept me on the edge of my seat! A must read series:) Looking forward immensely to the final book which focuses on Victoria, the investigative journalist that was kidnapped by the Cartel and rescued by the Bravo team and Bravo’s team leader Hamilton - sparks are going to fly!

I received an ARC from Netgalley for an honest review.
Very good suspense and sensual ++ romance. This serie is a real success. and each book is a "can't put it down" one. The characters are strong; sympathic with high heroic values.
But I have a few comments that may not disturb other readers at all because it's all due to me not reading the series in order..
I had read 2 other of the series before this one (#2 and #1 in that order).. Again it annoyed me a little that the characters' story began before the book so you have to catch up with things - I said this is obviously acceptable if you read the series from #1 to next ones..
Some details about how the bad guys discovered and crashed supposedly very high secured places tickled me a little (I'm talking about the attack at the lawyer's office).. Again it does not ruin the plot or the suspense but it brings a tiny deception while relating high tech security in the hole book aside.from that.

3.5 Stars Fast Justice is an adult romantic suspense thriller by Kaylea Cross and the 6th book in her DEA FAST series.

Packed with plenty of action, suspense and romance, Cross’s DEA FAST series focuses on the members of one of the DEA’s Foreign-Deployed Advisory and Support Teams: FAST Bravo. The series continues with FAST Bravo member Special Agent Malcolm Freeman and Assistant US Attorney Rowan Stewart as she prepares to prosecute one of the Veneno cartel’s most notorious sicarios.

A year ago, after Rowan had broken off their relationship before it could even start, Malcolm had closed himself off to romantic entanglements. But when fate throws them together again, Malcolm steps up to ensure she’s protected. Yet the enemy is determined to get what they want and when Rowan is kidnapped, Malcolm and his team must race to find her before it’s too late.

Fast Justice was a well-written, action-packed, romantic story with a satisfying HEA…buuuut, I didn’t feel connected to Malcolm and Rowan. I can’t explain it, because they were both likeable characters. Yet as a couple, they just didn’t work for me. I was more invested in the underlying Brock/Victoria story and the introduction of Oceane—daughter of one of the Veneno cartel’s lieutenants—and her mother Anya, who were willing to provide information about the cartel in exchange for federal protection and a guarantee from the government that they would be allowed to remain in the US. Nonetheless, I am really looking forward to reading Brock and Victoria’s story in Cross’s next book, Fast Vengeance!

I can't even think of writing this without banging my head against a wall over and over, this book pissed me off so much i can't belive people really just went on with the crazy nonsense. I haven't read any of the books in the series and i likely wont even get near them. There were people here in a goverment program of witnesses protection that were completly not protected. The "bad guys" just take them like they were there waiting with unlocked doors! There were vans popping out of nowhere and after a few gun shots and a completly nonexistent protection of people in FUCKING DANGER (I DONT CARE THEY WERE NOT IN THE SAME PROGRAM, HOW IS THAT EVERY DAMN TARGET IN THE CASE GETS A HIT FROM THE DAMN CRIMINALS IF THEY'RE GUARDED BY GOV FORCES????). For me, that means your goverment programs are quite shitty and not at all related to reality; i'm not saying they must be perfect, but they were always so damn easily beaten by these thugs that:
1. Did not base in the us, so how the hell did they got so many damn intel and resources to beat actual us gov entities? And without those entities minimal knowledge of it?
2. Took protected targets (gov agents couldn't even get them to their destinations because, of course, the bad guys are oh so bad and scary and end up showing up with a toothpick and just drag said target to their secret damn secure post) and the "good guys" just sit there doing "everything the can" to get it back.
And why, oh why would this happen??? Maybe because they all are trash at their job and can't protect shit??? Or because this is just how trained forces work, dragging targets around the city hoping nothing will happen and they'll just get a nice city tour, meanwhile they have no fucking clue if the criminals they're trying to catch are around, or have facilities in their soil, or wil send some paid thugs to finish those """""protected""""" people???? Of course not, they're the good guys, never ever will be incompetent untrained lazy dumb as hell at their job. Sorry for the rant here, but it got on my nerves finding so many loose ends in a program that's supposedly really serious and shit. Maybe it's just not for me.

The Veneno Mexican Drug Cartel, A “Cancer” With Its Aggressive Network “Tendrils” Imbedded in Society

Ms. Cross, you managed to write a stellar installment in the DEA FAST series. It’s pumped with high octane action coupled with a passionate re-kindling of a relationship that should have never faltered in the first place.

I loved Malcolm and his unwavering love for Rowan. Despite having his heart broken when Rowen abruptly called off the budding relationship, Malcolm would have given his life to protect her from harm. His selflessness, bravery and loving spirit are a recipe for the ideal book boyfriend.
Malcolm to Rowen:
“I’m only gonna tell you this once so listen up. You don’t ever need to be afraid of me. Not of anyone ever hurting you. And never of what I make you feel.” I LOVED this dialogue.

The Veneno Cartel members always weave a brutal, heart-wrenching story line into the series and this book is no exception. The story of Oceane and Anya is bathed in tragedy despite their life of material wealth and luxury. Ms. Cross continues to inform readers of the abhorrent, lucrative “skin trade” that some cartel enforcers sadistically participated in. In my opinion it’s the ultimate crime against humanity!!

In addition, Ms. Cross graced us with the loving gay relationship of Rowan’s brother and his partner. True love comes in many forms! The secondary characters, parents of Rowan and Malcolm, enriched the storyline and allowed readers the opportunity to see what values dramatically influenced Rowan and Malcolm to become the individuals they grew up to be.

This story had a satisfying conclusion played out in the Epilogue. Made me smile for sure. I can’t wait to delve into Book 7 in the series and thankfully won’t have to wait for its release.....YES!!!! Victoria and Brock have been two favorites of mine. This series is worth the read! Thank you Ms. Cross.

Worth Taking A Leap!!!

Rowan "Ro" Stewart walked away from a man who loved her to focus on her job as Assistant US Attorney. Even though she never got over him, she never took any steps to seek him out. Now she was working on one of the biggest case in her career.

She was prosecuting one of the Veneno cartel's most dangerous members. Things were challenging with unexpected surprises. Especially one of those challenges being the sexu as sin man who'd stolen her heart and never gave it back....Malcolm Freeman.

Malcolm "Mal" Freeman, a Special Agent of one of the FBI's most elite teams, FAST Bravo was the team's point man. He was at the top of his game when it came to his job but his personal life was a different story.

After the woman he thought would be his future ripped his heart out, he never put himself out there again. Now they found themselves back in each other's orbits working side by side to put some dangerous criminals away.

As they started to reconnect, Rowan found herself in danger and Freeman wasn't having any of it. He finally had her back in his life, so there was no way in h*ll he was going to lose her again especially not at the hands of tangos.

Like the growing bond between Hamilton and Victoria. The layyer being there for Oceane when she suffered a tragedy loss was beautifully done.

So glad Ro and Mal got there HEA. It was great to catch up with old friends and meeting new ones.

FAST JUSTICE is the sixth book in Kaylea Cross' DEA FAST series. Oh my! What an amazing, fast-paced and intriguing ride it has been. 5++++

P. S. Looking forward to Hamilton's story! ;)

The next book in the DEA fast series has U.S. Assistant Attorney Rowan Stewart being assigned her most important case of her career. The problem she has when she walks in is that the man she has to work with part of the time is the man she walked away from. Special Agent Malcom Freeman was not pressuring her for anything, she was pressuring herself and because of that she got up one morning and told him she cannot do this anymore and broke it off, afraid that he would want more, or she would want more. Always following her father’s footsteps she now finds herself right back where she started. Looking at the man she is still in love with but wanting the job and the promotion that goes with it. When the daughter of the drug cartel walks in and says she is turning herself in and will help as much as she can no one believes her. For weeks it goes that way until her mother is killed, they find the tracking device that her father had put into her how, and then Stewart’s car is blown up but her brother is the one how is hurt not her. She begins to look more and more at her life again and again and what she walked away from, or the possibility of. Love, children, and being with someone that cares for you. What will she do especially when Malcolm tells her he loves her and does not understand why she left? A very good story with many story lines and just when you think you are getting close to capturing the scorpion, not. A good book to go along with the series. Another great addition to the series.

The reader was briefly introduced to Malcolm Freeman throughout out the series as the tough ex-Navy SEAL who usually is the first man in during an op. In the last book, the readers were given a small hint of the connection he had with the Assistant US Attorney assigned to the Ruiz case, Rowan Stewart.

I'm a big fan of several series by Ms. Cross. The action packed stories have been entertaining to read and this story did not disappoint. We catch-up with the team back in DC where one of the high ranking lieutenant that was captured and now waiting for trial.

In this story we meet new characters, as well as some familiar ones. In this particular story the romantic couple is Malcolm and Rowan. The reader was given a history behind their breakup. The current situation with the case has brought them together through meetings and unforseen circumstances. The more they spend time together, Rowan begins to second guess why she had ended their relationship. In addition, with the security requirements she has been exposed to due to the cartel's involvement in the case, being close to each other once again, those strong feelings they had previously have resurfaced.

The story had so many twists and turns that kept the readers on the edge. These are usually expected from the series. The reason for the 4 star review was due to too many couples connecting and not enough focus on Malcolm and Rowan.

A great read and looking forward to read Hamilton and Victoria's story.

Kaylea Cross’ latest in the DEA FAST series, Fast Justice is one many like me had been waiting to read. Rowan Stewart’s story did not disappoint! You just knew that Rowan and Malcolm were not finished in spite of her having broken off their relationship earlier. It is just a captivating story from beginning to end.

The intense action-packed suspense is balance with the powerful emotional relationship rebuilding between Rowan and Malcolm. The danger to Rowan bring them back together as well as serve as an eye opening for Rowan. Their story is one of maturity and amends. Usually it is the male in these types of stories that need to admit that they were wrong. I liked that it was the female in this story but even more that she was a strong enough woman to do so. Fast Justice is a gripping story with characters that are able to act at the moment and also able to give serious thought to their actions. It is a win-win for the reader.

The novel is tied to the overarching theme which may make this a bit more difficult to read as a stand-alone. The background story is given when needed but a new reader may feel that they need more. If you have kept up with the series, this is a must read. Outstanding.

An ARC of the book was given to me by the publisher through Net Galley which I voluntarily chose to read and reviewed. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Another great hit for Ms Cross

A definite must read, great series, engrossing, captivating and definitely the reason I've not eaten all my Easter chocolate, I got caught up in the story and couldn't put it down. Rowan and Malcolm have a mini history, they met a couple of years ago, but Rowan wasn't in the right place, neither could forget the other. Fate and the cartel brought them together to fight the horrors of the drug trade, human trafficking, and an escaped leaders daughter looking for help. Rowan is the assistant DA on the case to bring down a main lieutenant that Mal and his FAST team captured. Things take a deadly turn with a bomb under Romans car injuring her brother. Further horror finds their other witness even in protective custody, finds Rowan being taken. Mal and his team go in - will they find Rowan, other captives, the drug enforcers, and be able to prosecute the bad guys. This series is addictive, totally engrossing and must read. Ms Cross has a writing style that draws in the reader, gathers their emotions and plays them all along the way.

I love this series. I love the little differences between the characters as to how they met and fell in love. In this book, Malcolm and Rowan had dated previously and she called it off because she felt like he was moving too fast and it scared her. Not to mention that she the Asst US Attorney working on a huge case against the cartel.

This did follow the standard romantic suspense novel plot of the woman getting kidnapped and the man coming to save her. But the reality is that these women save themselves. When Rowan was kidnapped, she came up with ways to prolong her life until Juan decided not to kill her outright but to have her suffer in death. Only that's not what happened. Rowan had already saved herself before Mal arrived on the scene to assist her cross that finish line to living.

The bottom line is that these novels do keep you on the edge of your seat regardless of knowing that there will be a happy ending. The women are written as strong characters that are capable of taking care of themselves, yet wanting that man in their lives to love and give them an extra level of comfort and protection.

I can't wait to read book 7 - Hamilton and Victoria's story.

Rowan and Mal...... She broke his heart and walked away without a backward glance, or so he thought but Mal was a hard man to forget and Rowan knew to moment she walked away she made a huge mistake but she didn't know how to fix it because she also knew she hurt Mal and she wasn't sure she could risk the chance of him rejecting her... yep she was afraid..lol Rowan was a big coward when it came to her personal life so she buried herself in her work and why not she is damn good at her job she is a damn good attorney but then damn her job gets her into the sights of a major mexican cartel she is trying to bring down and Mal is put on protection duty for witnesses so their paths are crossing left and right and oh my he is just oh my why oh why did she walk away from him again.....lol Rowan just needs to stay focused on her job right no personal life, no personal life.....lol

yep that's gonna work lol

another great DEA FAST story I can't wait for the next one Kaylea Cross did it again.

Rowan is a the Assistant U.S. attorney and working on a high profile case. Ruiz had a woman kidnapped raped, and killed her whole family. He is part of the Mexican cartel but is in jail now. Malcolm is a member of FAST and former military. He and Rowan dated and then she broke things off. Now he’s her guard until the FBI can gets agents to take over after her car explodes and almost kills her brother. When she’s kidnapped to get information out of her, Malcolm is ready to kill anyone that stands in his way. Can he find her before she’s killed and save her and his heart?
Awesome story with characters who are strong, patriotic, and sexy. There are several other characters story being told too. I don’t want to give too much away. Suspense, action, sex, and of course bad guys. A little cliffhanger that I hope continues into the next book, which I can’t wait for.

OMG! This was a very intense on the edge of your seat kind of story. This story is about Malcolm and Rowan getting a second chance at love when they meet again after Rowan was in an accident. From there things get up. The cartel are savages and whooboy they don't disappoint in this book. The story gets really intense towards the end but Malcolm comes to the rescue before Rowan falls to her demise. It's unfortunate that the bad guy got away but these two are safe for the time being. I am happy these two found their way back to each other and find their happily ever after. FANTASTIC job Kaylea! I would highly recommend this book!

I love this series, and this book was no different, in fact, it was one of my favorites. It's not often an author can write a truly alpha guy like Malcolm and give him such a tender heart and a mind full of doubts without emasculating him, but Kaylea Cross did it. Malcolm tugged my heart strings and yet still had plenty of the alpha macho vibe we all love to read. I liked feisty Rowan too, and their chemistry was of the charts. As I expect from this series, the action was plentiful, the villains were beyond evil, and the sparks flew. I can't wait to read the next book and get Victoria's story!

Malcolm and Rowan had dated briefly a year before with a connection but Rowan spooked and broke it off. Then due to a case Rowan was working on Malcolm was called into answer questions and was aloof. On both sides there were still feelings but one didnt know how to fix it and the other wasn't putting his heart out there again.

Loved Malcolm he was a stand up but with a heart of gold. Rowan was a great girl but her drive to please her dad overrode her own happiness.

Needless to say life got bad before she realized what she let go and wasn't sure if she would make it out alive to claim her man.

Good book and live the series.

the story is good but for me Rowan and Malcolm parts are limited. they're the main characters right?

I'm aware that the author always give an insight or introduction about the other characters who will show up in the next books and also there's always the bad guy POV. but this one, the others POV somehow out shadow Mal and Rowan POV.

Oceane and Lockhart or Hamilton and Victoria are interesting characters I couldn't wait to read their story but I hope in this book there's more about Rowan and Malcolm.

(correction, not liking Oceane that much, how could an adult be blindsided by his father's money? she should know better)

Awesome!!

This is a continuation of the DEA FAST Bravo team and the fight for justice against the Veneno cartel. Malcolm and Rowan had dated briefly last year, but at the time Rowan was scared that they were moving too quickly. Now, because of this case, Rowan and Malcolm are frequently in each other’s company. Rowan is the federal prosecutor and Malcom is a team member. When Rowan’s life is threatened, Malcolm volunteered to protect her until a detail could be assigned. Now is their second chance at love, but only if they survive!

- although justice wasn't quite served...
This is the story of Rowan, an assistant US attorney and Malcolm from the FAST team. It follows the rescue of Victoria from the last book.
As always it's well written, great characterization and it doesn't pull any punches so readers be aware of that. I must admit that a couple of scenes made me cringe.
I felt it needed a little more detail in parts as the flow wasn't quite right in the middle. The ending was really good though.
Another good book by the author.

Ms Cross writes and story that tugs at the heart while it makes you want a hero of your own.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book from the first page to the last and found myself interested in the characters, beyond the story-line. Well written, captivating and detailed, this story provided the emotional roller coaster of romance with the heart stopping action and intrigue of a thriller.

I chose this story from the book description, but would certainly buy further books through the author herself. Highly recommended for romance and action lovers

I really enjoyed Fast Justice and well as the rest of the DEA FAST Series.
Rowan is an Assistant D.A working on the case of a lifetime. A case to bring down Carlos Ruiz and the rest of El Scorpion’s Drug Cartel. Malcolm Freeman is the point man on the DEA FAST team and ex boyfriend of Rowan’s. When things heat up and Rowan is kidnaped, Malcolm moved heaven and hell to find her and his teammates are right there with him.

Wow......twists and turns and drama along the way. The story has you hooked from the get go and keeps you turning the pages to find out what is going to happen next. Definitely couldn’t put this one down, held me captivated right through to the very end. I love how Kaylea Cross brings her story and characters to life before your eyes. A definitely must read and a five star book all day long in my opinion. I would definitely and absolutely recommend this book to all book lovers out there, go get your copy today and find out what your are missing.

For me, I enjoyed this story NOT because if the hero and heroine (Malcolm and Rowan). I enjoyed it because of Hamilton, Lockhart, Victoria and Oceana. They made the story and got me invested in their stories to come. Malcolm and Rowan's portion felt like a base with sprinkles in the story. I only kept reading this story because everything else about Hamilton and Lockhart's growing story there. Malcolm has not been a character who has interested me...Khan interested more, but his story was disappointing.
