I also have books that are not so in your face. There are several that are good love stories that are fraught with issues that the characters have to deal with.

➦My favorite part of the book was just watching these two together. Watching them grow first into hot & heavy lover’s then into friends & so much more. I loved seeing the changes they were making. They are so connected to one another Declan has this way of being able to open Brooke up & bringing her out of her shell, something no one else could do.

►They both carried secrets, but Declan’s secrets were ones no man should have carry. Especially now that his feeling for Brooke have changed to so much more

I think this first book of this new series is my favorite one yet by this author! Each of her books gets better, the stories get more in-depth and the characters become more "life like" than her previous works.

In this one, we have Declan, the VP of the Soulless Bastards, and his neighbor down the street, Brooke. Two broken people for two completely different reasons are drawn to one another. Because of a silly dare.

Of course, it wouldn't be a gritty MC book unless there were bad guys (okay, guys worse than the club itself, because while they call themselves the Soulless Bastards, they've ALL got huge hearts!), lots of steamy times and angst that comes from an alpha man and a strong woman who calls him on his stuff. I totally loved this one and cannot wait to read more in this series!

Declan was the first book in the Soulless Bastards MC by Erin Trejo. It was my first book by the author.

Declan was the VP of the MC. He was gorgeous, fierce, mean and one not to be messed with. He was born and raised in the club and had his first kill at fifteen, a revenge on the man that killed his mother. He never had an old lady nor even considered one. There was never one that kept his interest.

Brooke was running her uncle’s floundering strip club. She lost her parents young and was raised with her sister by her uncle. She was gorgeous, tough as nails, independent, and learned to fight for herself.

I enjoyed the storyline and the characters. There was an underlying suspenseful plot within the MC as well as the strip club. They were separate plots that ultimately merged together when Declan and Brooke met. It wasn’t a sweet story - as it lived up to the “big bad biker” theme - but it had its sweet parts as only a strong female can bring from the alpha, uber protective male.

In the end, Trejo provided a well written, well developed, entertaining read while setting the stage for the series well. The characters were intriguing and full of promise for a great series. Next up is the fun and crazy MC brother, Mayhem.

It all started with a dare. Haunted by a traumatic event in her past, Brooke has been surviving. Not really sure what she wants to do with her life, she helps her uncle to get his strip club back in the black. However, all work and no play make Brooke a dull girl. So when she's dared to do something out of the ordinary, she jumps on it. Go to the biker club down the road and ask for a beer? What's the worst that could happen?

Declan was born into the club, raised by the club, and lived for the club. As VP, he's respected and feared. His past wasn't pretty and his present isn't much better. He and his brothers live by certain rules and will do whatever it takes to protect what's theirs. And then along came Brooke, who fought with and challenged him, and everything that led him up to this point couldn't prepare him for the chaos she would bring.

So... I liked the hero and didn't like the heroine. Declan was honest with his intentions and stayed real from beginning to end. He was raw, unfiltered, and crazy sexy. Brooke was aggressive, abrasive and ridiculous. However, together they gave me quite the entertaining read so I'm not really complaining. I liked how the one event that traumatized each of them connected them and I only wish that it was dealt with a bit more. It felt like it got almost a casual mention and the true depth of it wasn't explored. I still plan on reading the rest of what this author has to offer because I can't get enough of her insanely twisted heroes.

DNF. This story is not for me

The writing style did not work for me. The switch in POVs was too quick. Writing issues.
They had sex shortly after meeting and I am tired of those type of stories.
I was unable to connect. Their "connection" was odd.
It all felt weird. You may love it. Good luck.

I enjoyed this story. I loved Brooke's take no charge attitude. I loved how she could fight her own battles. But also when she met Declan even though she just wanted a sexual relationship she couldn't help but knew that she had to admit she needed help.
Declan was definitely a typical biker. I liked the fact that he wasn't the sleeping around type of person. And even though he didn't want to become attached to Brooke he couldn't help falling for her bossy take no prisoners attitude

I enjoyed the rest of the characters as well, especially Tic. Can't wait to read his story😍

Yess…we are getting a new MC series by Erin Trejo and I am just jumping for joy about this!!

Erin... I just fell in love with Declan!! He is such an Alpha male, all Caveman and one Hell of a bad ass MC!! I could hardly put this book down y’all, I was definitely reading well on past my bed time..haha

Declan and Brooke had that great banter going on and some really HAWT sexual tension that I love while reading my books. Declan was such a hard ass but Brooke loved pushing his buttons. She sure could give him a run for his money.

”What the hell is with you? Why do you think you’re the fucking ruler of the world?” I yell. He chuckles but keeps walking. “I am the fucking ruler of the world,” he says as he keeps going, still not looking at me.” See, he is just what I love…ole cocky ass MC’er haha He does what he wants..when he wants..lol

I gave Declan 5 iScream Cones!! I really did not want this book to end. Ohhh and I see several MC guys in the book that I would love to read their stories as well and at the end of the book I seen who will be next. But... I will not share, so you can be just as excited as I am when you see..lol Thank you for another fantastic read Erin!!

Okay so I have been wanting to add Erin Trejo for a while now and I took the opportunity to start her new series. Maybe it was because I had such high hopes and heard such good things but this book wasn't all that I hoped for. When it comes to MC books I am looking for certain things.

1. I want hardcore men- alpha strong and sexy
2. I want my woman for the main character to be equal in some certain way. In mind, body or soul.
3. A mystery. I want my story to be strong. And that the two main characters have to fight together to make it out in the end stronger.

This book was hard on all three really. I found the characters hard to like even from the very beginning. I did not like Brooke in chapter one. But I finished the story all the way through hoping Erin would redeem these characters.

I am hoping to read the second book in the event Erin finds her groove with this new group of characters.

Wow, this book I just couldn't get enough. Just when I've thought I'd already seen the best that Erin has she surprises me with a book like this. The draw that these two have is undeniable and trying to just makes them miserable. The way this book started shocked me and they just kept coming. I did not see this book playing out as it did and I loved it even more for it.

Declan isn't the nicest person. The things he has done in his past, even his present, isn't something you want to experience but inside is such a sweet and caring heart that also is dirty as hell as well. Brooke has been fighting for years now and it doesn't seem like that is about to change. This book is full of action, angst, heartbreak, lies, betrayal and so much more. I was hooked and couldn't put this book down.

I highly recommend this must read and can't wait for the next in the series.

I'm a huge fan of Erin Trejo I've read her Knights of sin series and when I had the opportunity to read Declan I ended up devouring it like I do with her other books . The characters are awesome when we get into their point of views I fall even more for them . I love a heroine that could hold her own and be no ones damsel fight along side her man and that is what Brooke is she's tough , protective , funny and feisty I must say total girl crush . Ok I feel for the hero when he pulled out the GUN and did the thing let me tell you melting panties over her . The story line had me I wanted to know what was going to happen with them and oh my gosh the sex scenes are super hot . You don't want to miss on this story I highly recommend this author and I can't wait to see what's to come next .

Declan is a standalone and the start to a new MC series. Declan and Brooke have a shared past of death and destruction. When they accidentally meet again, sparks fly between them.

Declan and Brooke have insane chemistry. Its apparent the moment Brooke walks into his life as an adult. Their story is interesting and they are tough characters. The Soulless Bastards intrigued me, and I'm excited to see where this series goes.

Overall, Declan was a decent read. The plot felt jumpy at times, and occasionally the actions of the character seemed to conflict with what had been established about them. I was still sucked in to the story and found myself more invested than I had anticipated.

Hard steel

This story I could not put down. I read it at lightning speed. Declan and Brooke’s passion had every emotion all in one. They’re the best of both worlds and it was great to see a woman stand up for herself and not be the victim. Wow great read. Want more of them!!!!

An enjoyable MC read. What I noticed that I haven’t read elsewhere in this genre is a general positive attitude toward females and sex. Whether they liked it, didn’t, who they were doing it with not the main story here but an acceptance of each other in their respective environments. Brooke heading up the strip joint was OK with whatever anyone wants to do with their bodies. There wasn’t any slut-shaming, degrading the strippers or the MC girls. It was definitely different to how other authors have depicted the them and us attitudes.

The romance was not the main driver of the plot. Brooke’s issues with the strip club, finding her history, accepting help from Declan were an entertaining storyline. Meeting new characters in the MC is promising for future books. Declan learning his role as VP and then realizing his role in Brooke’s early tragedy was hard for him to deal with. There was a time jump or two in there but it wasn’t too jolting. 🙃

Great story

So how can two people get past the murder of two people they loved? Read this book. It is great. Brooke is so lost and Declan is searching for someone to make him be the man he can. The natural progression of their story is so real. Not all hearts and sunshine but a HEA in the end.

I’ve really enjoyed this book. It’s been a while since I’ve read a decent MC book. Declan and Brooke’s story started long before they even realize. It was great to watch it all come together. This book gives you all what you’re looking for in an MC book. Looking foreword to reading about more of them. Hoping to keep updates if Declan and Brooke in them too.
