First of all the cover was just totally awesome. The thought of being able to look into a murder victims eyes and seeing the killer definitely had my interest. The book will have you on edge and scared for Carlie and Dillon at every turn. I strongly recommend this book to everyone.

She looks into the eyes of the dead and sees their murderers and it makes her a magnet for danger, herself. Carlie is anything but a normal teen and protecting her is anything but easy, just ask her mother and her boyfriend, Dillon. But when Dillon is hurt trying to help Carlie discover the latest victim’s killer, Carlie vows she is through until her best friend is the latest girl attacked. Now all bets are off as Carlie risks everything to stop a killer in his tracks.
Lee Ann Ward has created a tale of mystery with a touch of the paranormal and a whole lot of realism in the characters she has brought to life. SEE is not another cookie-cutter young adult mystery/romance. Carlie is a strong heroine with a wonderful bond between both herself and her mother and her boyfriend, Dillon. This is a stand alone novel and I received this book in exchange for an honest review. I loved this book and the whole paranormal aspect to it, you very rarely find a book like this. True, there are a lot of paranormal books out there, but many of them don't have any weight to them.
Carlie and Dillon are the picture perfect relationship of teenagers. I loved the clean cut of their relationship and the fondness they have for each other. This story has so many layers going on and it lavishes the main one. I would rate this for ages 13 and older.
I loved the interaction between Carlie and her mom, I can recall growing up and having that indifference to my mom myself. I loved Carlie's ability! I loved the mystery of finding out who the killers are and the friendship she develops with Jenna.

I fell in love with these characters so when the ending came it is both amazing and bittersweet. I didn’t want this story to end. This is my first book by this author and sure as hell, not my last! See is a must read, edge of your seat book!

Intense. This is one "superpower " I don't want. Realistic characters, snappy dialogue, with plenty of mystery.

This book does a great job of combining contemporary YA romance with eerie paranormal suspense. Carlie, the main character, is a bit acerbic in the beginning, but if you had to live with the things she does, you'd probably be a little irritated too. Plus her mom is smotheringly overprotective, but you really can't blame her either. If a psychotic killer had tried to kidnap and murder your child when she was 5, you'd probably be overprotective too. I loved watching Carlie's growth over the course of the book and cheered for her along the way. And her boyfriend is just the cutest thing ever. Great read all around!

First thing first, in full disclosure, I personally know the author of this book. However, she did not solicit this review from me and I paid real green for my copy. Knowing the author does, however, make an impact on this review, but not necessarily for the reasons you might be thinking.
Lee Ann Ward works incredibly hard at her craft. I have personally witnessed her drive and determination. She is never content with remaining stagnant in her technique and is always pushing to grow as a writer. And in addition to all of that hard work, as well as the many hats she wears in her personal life, she shares the wealth of what she has learned with those around her. And that is quite an admirable attribute.
As for the book in question, here are the reasons I gave Lee Ann Ward's "See" 4 stars.
Ward captured the voice of the teenager. She clearly illustrated the moody resistance, the willful resilience, and the complexity of becoming a young adult in a world full of as much danger as possibility. There were a few vocabulary choices here and there that didn't strike me as fitting for the age, but overall the feel of being a 15 year old girl was lucid and well-fleshed out. The differing backgrounds of the characters, the challenges that they met, and the relationships that they had were 3-Dimensional and personally very relatable (though sometimes Dillon seemed a bit too good to be true). I appreciated the fact that not every relationship was viewed as 'fixable'. Some things had to be let go. Some things had to be realized for what they were, and some truths had to slowly reveal themselves in a way that the character could deal with the implications and outcomes.
Adults are portrayed as fallible individuals who make mistakes and sometimes disappoint those they love...which is a key lesson that I think we all had to learn growing up, one way or another. The lengths that some parents will go to for their children is also quite evident, giving a 360 view of what it's like to be a parent in today's age.
The bits of foreshadowing planted seeds but did not outright predict the ending, The pacing of the story was good, with a great balance of intense action and thorough character development.
Ward clearly did her research in many aspects of the book, including that of the antagonists of the story. She touched on several of the highly documented psychological aspects of a deviant, leaving room for several different types of personalities and outcomes. I will say I was curious about how much a sketch artist is truly involved in cases, but that is something I'll gladly do my own research on.
Lastly, and in many ways most importantly, was that most everyone in the story saved someone in some way or another. There was allowance for vulnerability but also for strength and courage, without making anyone in particular seem like a bionic superhero nor a Bella Swan.
Overall, I am truly impressed with Lee Ann Ward's "See" and encourage anyone on the fence to go ahead and buy the thing already! I don't think you'll regret it, and I am truly looking forward to delving in to Ward's future works.

I couldn’t put this book down! it’s a really fun read, with amazing characters.
Carlie is a very well-designed character and the book is written in her, first-person point of view. The author did a great job writing a teenager; at times she’s a little too wise for her years, at other times she’s slightly juvenile or naive. She’s ultimately a strong person though and diving into this world, being shown around in her voice is delightful.
This was an addictive read, well-edited and professionally presented.
It’s got some action, mystery, a bit of a paranormal aspect, great family values, friendships, strong connections… it’s realistic, despite the paranormal “superpower” Carlie is stuck with, and her ways of coping are rather relatable.
Overall, job really well done. Fast-paced, standalone read, no cliffhanger. Strongly recommend.

This has to be one of the best YA books I’ve read in a long time. Ms. Ward captures a teenager perfectly, without the overabundance of angst that you find so much of. The paranormal part of the book is light – just the right touch. Carlie could have been me as a teenager, or any other reader. She’s moody but smart, and she’s not whiny, she’s a strong young woman that is loyal and stands up for herself and her friends. I even smiled at some of the interactions with her mother which I’m thinking a lot of readers will be able to connect with.
A great suspenseful YA that needs more readers. Lee Ann Ward is one to watch. Reviewed by Cyrene

See is a YA suspense thriller. Carlie is what anyone would call a normal teen except her mom draws died people and oh if Carlie looks in their eyes she can see their killer. I enjoyed reading See it is definitely a different type of YA era and keeps you on your toes. I enjoyed the secondary characters and how they all supported her in their own way. This is my first Lee Ann Ward read but won’t be my last.

Great read holds you from start to finish
This book held my attention from the beginning to the end. Constant non-stop action. I would recommend this to any lover of YA literature. She's made me a true fan of her work.

I'm probably a lot older than the target audience, but I truly enjoyed this book. The plot is clever, the pacing is great, and the ending is satisfying. I can't wait to read more by this author.

Lee Ann Ward’s See is a gripping novel that blends romance, mystery, and the supernatural. Ward’s storytelling is emotional and suspenseful, keeping readers on edge as Carly navigates love, loss, and the eerie consequences of her psychic gift. The romance is heartfelt, the twists are unexpected, and the novel delivers an engaging mix of drama and intrigue. See is the first YA book I've ever read, but as an adult woman, apparently I'm not alone.
If you enjoy books with a supernatural twist and a strong emotional core, See is a compelling read worth checking out!

When Carlie was five she inadvertently saw an unsolved mystery show her parents were watching and knew who killed the girl- but the scary part was that the murderer knew who she was also. After almost being kidnapped and solving a murder, her mom decided to never let her see another picture of a dead person in case it happened again- something challenging since her mom's job is to make crime scene sketches and profiled for the police. When a friend of Carlie's goes missing, Carlie wonders if she could help. When the friend is found dead, Carlie wonders if she still has that strange supernatural ability she did as a kid...and if she is willing to risk the killer knowing who she is in return.
The premise of this book is death and there is a lot of death and murder mentioned in the book, but I found this to be surprisingly upbeat. A lot of the book was spent dealing with the drama of high school, family issues and first love. Carlie has a gift (or curse depending on who you ask) and it let's her get resolution for people, something that she was so hopeful about. She wanted to help and was willing to overlook the danger if it would get justice for her friend.
I will admit that I was a little bit miffed at Carlie's attitude towards her mom for at least the first half of the book. She was slightly hostile all the time and completely blamed her mom for her parent's divorce since her mom loved her morbid job and did not want to quit. I had to keep telling myself she was only 15 and had no idea how real life worked. I did like watching Carlie mature as the book progressed and gain more insight into her mom and life in general. It helped her with her interpersonal interactions so much, her confidence as well as her goals. I liked the person she became by the end of the story.
Overall this was a really interesting premise for a YA supernatural murder mystery. Everything was wrapped up by the end of the book, making this a nice fast read that can be consumed in one afternoon. I am pretty sure that this is a standalone book, but it could easily be made into a series.
