Rate this book
Halley St. John was thrilled when she inherited a ranch in Wilder, Wyoming. The penniless ex-socialite was in dire straits and knew the ranch was her only life. But life on the rough frontier is harder than Halley expected--especially when some of the locals try to drive her out of town. Soon, Halley proves her mettle with the men in town by refusing to buckle under their pressure--and gains the respect of a handsome rancher in the process.

What a surprise.... I received a pm from the author, Lisa Higdon! She was surfing the net and came across bookcrossing.com and decided to search for her books... When she found a copy of "Take Heart" on my bookshelf, she pm'd me... it seems we are practically neighbors! What a small world this is. Lisa grew up in this area and still lives here! I just love Bookcrossing... such a friendly, nurturing place.

After receiving the pm from Lisa Higdon, I just had to dig through all the boxes of romance novels and bring this one to the top of the heap!

This is story about Halley St. John, a young NYC socialite that loses all by trusting the wrong man and is saved by a little known uncle who dies and leaves his Wyoming ranch to her. I thoroughly enjoyed her adventures in adjusting from life in the New York City social whirl to the hard Wyoming ranch life. Lisa Higdon developed characters exactly as I would have imagined in the frontier.. from the no-good cattle rancher that tries to run her off and steal her land, to the ex-Texas Ranger who steals her heart.

I'll be searching for more of Lisa Higdon's books!
