This is a FANTASTIC read for anyone either going through ED recovery OR for mental health professionals/dietitians/doctors working with people going through ED recovery. It strikes the perfect balance of being academic enough to explain the all-important 'whys' of ED behaviors, but written in a completely relatable and compassionate voice that will appeal to those who are struggling and just want to know how to break free from unhealthy thoughts and behaviors. I immerse myself in ED recovery culture with books, podcasts, and articles, and this book offered me so much new information and a fresh perspective that can help anyone suffering from an ED or working as part of a treatment team. HIGHLY recommend!!

A digestible, thought-provoking, and knowledgable dive into how eating disorders thrive off our cognitive distortions. Dr. Anderson writes with candor and occasional humor, providing insight for developing an awareness of one's thoughts, emotions, and behaviors to address how they can be manipulated by eating disorders in terms of food, self, others, and treatment. This book has a permanent place on my shelf.

Honestly the best book on eating disorders and recovery I have ever read. The examples were concrete and I got so much new information from reading this book. Cannot recommend it enough.
