This book was really not for me at all. I was expecting a romance novel, and what I got was a CIA intrigue story. Promises to Keep is also extremely short, so the characters and plot did not have enough time to develop.

I enjoyed this story of how a wife and new mother knows something is going on with her husband, and she's freaking out. He can't tell her the truth because he works with the CIA, but of course she assumes the worst. The scenes/chapters switch between the husband's and wife's points of view, a format I particularly like. Wouldn't it be nice if we could head hop once in a while in real life to know what someone is thinking? Although things heat up and get a bit harrowing, they turn out okay in the ...more
