Dr. Marilyn “Mickey” Mailman Segal was a developmental psychologist, author, and educator who specialized in early childhood.
Segal received her Ph.D. in behavioral science from Nova University. In 1972, she became an assistant professor at Nova University. That same year, she received a grant to produce the public television series “To Reach a Child.”
Segal worked in the community to develop early learning programs. In 1975, she opened the Family Center at Nova University, an early childhood center that was also a teaching and research facility. In 2002, it was renamed the Mailman Segal Institute for Early Childhood Studies.
