Angel Crusades #1

Assassin's Soul

Rate this book
He’s an enigma. Seductive, dominant, dismissive, distant... and this just makes her want him more.

He’s an Adonis, all rippling muscles, magnetic charisma, and supernatural strength.
And just might be a murderer.
Why can’t I stay away from him?
All our lives are on the line on this mission.
But the one man I can’t trust is the one I desire

Two groups, the empaths and the tattooed assassins, have joined together to attempt to wrest control of the city of Chicago from the evil demon sorcerer who invaded and took it over ten years before. Andie Oster simply wants to focus on the mission at hand and try to keep herself and her friends alive, challenges made harder by the fact that their new assassin teammates and their commander don’t seem to trust the empaths.

This is especially true of their field leader Dante, a magnetic killer with dark eyes, an insane body, and emotions locked behind a tight wall that no empath can reach. Andie is instantly drawn to Dante, and can’t stop herself from hooking up with him even when he’s dismissive, behavior she’d never put up with before in a guy.

What was it about him she couldn’t resist, and why was she sure he was more than he appeared?

And would her infatuation get them all killed, since there was a murderer in their midst, and all the clues pointed to Dante being the culprit?

Assassin's Soul is an 80k paranormal romance about inexplicable connection in high-tension situations with empaths, assassins and demons. Guaranteed HEA, no cheating and no cliffhanger, explicit sex.

As I started reading this book I thought it was rather slow but...by the second chapter I was hooked. Andela, Andie for short was a Jr. when she met Micah but he became the love of her life. She was just going to be in France for two months over the summer and then see him for two weeks til he left for college. But what is the old saying? The best laid plans of mice and men. Shortly after arriving at her uncles, she's told that there's been an attack on the United States and her home town has disappeared and Chicago has been taken over by demons.
Fast forward ten years and Andie, having realized she's an empath, has joined an elite group of empaths that will be joined by a group of assassins for a joint attack and destroy mission in Chicago. This has turned out to be one of the best books I have read and believe me I read a
lot of books. I hope the rest of this series turns out as good.

*I voluntarily read a Review Copy of this book. All opinions stated are solely my own and no one elses*

The author takes you on an action packed adventure where you meet sexy, badass demons, empaths and a whole lot more. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it.

It took me a while to get into this one but I’m glad I persevered. The beginning was rather slow paced but it did pick up quickly.

Dante was broody, mysterious and intense. Andie made me laugh - her mind was always in the gutter and I couldn’t blame her either. Dante and Andie had phenomenal chemistry - the intensity of their connection echoed beautifully.

Florian and Lucy had a strong connection - they were drawn together like two halfs of one soul. These two had amazing chemistry despite the trust issues.

The plot was gripping with several twists and unexpected surprises thrown into keep you on edge.

A brilliant start to the series - this is definitely an author to watch.

Loved it

I gave it 4 stars only cuz i was wanting more steamy scenes between Andie and Dante plus a more detailed ending. BUT, this book has, romance, action, adventure and a twist i didnt see coming. Its so nice to read a book and be suprised instead of semi figuring it out before hand. Andie has her world rocked as a teen and then discovers more secrets 10 years later. Dante has a job to do no matter the cost even his death wont stop him. They are leaders of 2 very different groups with one mission. Its got adult language and adult scenes so be aware no young readers. Cant wait for the rest of this series and more stories from all the group. I am also hoping for more from Andie and Dante.

Awesome read!

I really loved this book. The beginning gives you the great background of the main characters. Thank you for that! Jump forward ten years and the story gets intense!! Demons and empaths are abound, and you root for Andie and her group. Love how she stood up to the colonel in charge of the group they became part of. She was still part of the girl we got to know in the beginning as well as how she has grown up dealing with the massive changes. She definitely became a stronger version of herself, but still had her human moments. Bout little over halfway through you get glimpses of Dante making you think of things.

This is a wonderful read... now on to book two.

Not sure if wanted 4 or 5 stars I may change it to 5 after I think some more
I liked how This book was different not what I was expecting , but good it seemed the book may have started in middle when there could of been more explanation in another book like his could of been the second book not The first but in saying that it something was always going on and you didn't know what , was surprised at the ending and didn't expect that. You could just end it there as The book can be read by itself but it makes you want to read more and sounds like maybe more will be explained on how and why how they behave ended up how they are

Demons have ripped multiple portals into the human realm which devastates entire cities. Andie and her fellow empaths set out on a journey with the Redbacks to take down the demon whom has taken over Chicago. Their journey is arduous but keeping their eye on the final prize they continue on. Traders in their midst makes everything more difficult. Liars in their camp are no help. I enjoyed this book! I actually have already read book 2 as an ARC and it was great so, I purchased this book and it did not disappoint!

3.5 stars. I would have enjoyed it a lot less without that prologue that made everything clear from the beginning. Without it I would have been so annoyed by the insta-lust and the hot n cold of Dante and of Andie's continuing to put up with his crappy treatment of her. But as I had a chance to see Andie & Micah's relationship first I was able to overlook it. I enjoyed the setting with the dimensional riff, the demons, the distopian world feel and that there is more to the demons and their invasion than it first seems.

Andie and Dante's crazy on again off again relationship or whatever you want to call it almost overshadowed the true mission because he refused to let her in on his secrets. Lucy and Foral had a sweet and unusual story. It was really amazing that Micah was able to "return" and the twisted connection to Caleb was fun. I can't wait for Caleb's story.

Great read

I really enjoyed this book, it's well written and the main characters were likeable and interesting as were the secondary characters, there could be future stories there. The story itself was an interesting take on the old demon vs angels, not one I've read before. I will read future books in this series.

The story sort of begins in the middle and fills in the blanks as it goes along which made it a tad confusing and extremely hard for me to get into. It ended up being an ok read but it just didn't flow or hold my attention.

Action packed story about empaths and warriors on a quest to defeat demons who took over the world. Lots of twists and turns in the plot and little confusing in the beginning, but overall entertaining read. Some romance, some heat, but mostly a lot of unexpected happens in the book.

DNF- about 50 pages wasted on a high school crush... Didn't sign up to read YA. Was unrealistic and juvenile. Poor pacing

I recently started reading books similar to this one and while it is different then the ones I have been reading it is very enjoy able and hard to put down since you want to know what will happen next.
Andie is the leader of a group of empaths. Like most everyone she got her gifts after the demons destroy a city with a portal to the human world. Only it wasn't any city, it was her hometown with all her friends and family. Ten years later and she still has a hard time with if and missing her old high school love.
Now her team is joining a group of assassins in hope to destroy the demon reign over the Midwest and kill the leader.
Dante is the best assassin in the group and she is drawn to him, even though every time they get close she seems to wind up heart broken and disappointed. He doesn't seem to respect her and wants her to leave the mission but then he will do something that seems to make her believe otherwise.
Now they have a traitor among them, she doesn't want to think it could be Dante but he is hiding things, and she suspects he may be part demon...
Great read.

Plot was a little convoluted but an interesting concept altogether. Too bad about the numerous spelling/grammar mistakes and the pacing in some places.

Fantastic book! Magic, mayhem, demons, and angels. Andela and Micah were highschool sweethearts, but the world as they knew it ended when demons invaded Chicago. Ten years later two teams, with very different skills prepare to take Chicago back from the demons. Fascinating, sexy, and sometimes sweet characters fighting for one goal. The truths they discover make for some exciting and unique twists in the plot. Absolutely a must read, I loved this book!

I am voluntarily leaving an honest and non-incentivized review of this ARC.
