Thalia, thirty-three year old witch and mother-to-be, has had a strange, premonitory dream. The baby she carries, the child of her lifelong friend and lover Ambrus, is destined to some greatness at which she can only guess. Heeding the dream's warning, Thalia escapes her home in Devon, England for the relative anonymity and safety of the small coastal village of St. Malo, France. In a race against time and unseen enemies, Thalia seeks the answer to an obscure riddle which hints at the coming of a power far surpassing any known on earth, and The Healer, her son, is the key.
Ambrus, policy analyst and all-around ordinary guy, finds himself inexplicably embroiled in the impossible. His lover has left him for fear he will somehow come to harm his child, and centuries-old books write of him as something quite beyond what he'd always thought himself to be. In order to safeguard his son and help Thalia unravel the answer to the Triple Bond in time, Ambrus reclaims a mysterious birthright. In doing so, he comes face to face with the mortal enemy of the boy destined to soothe wounds that too often go unseen.
