They don't sugar coat it. Shows me that maybe a camper is as far as I want to go, even though it "gives you the poorest space utilization, weight distribution, handling, and riding ease of any camper you could choose." In fact, this book convinces me that the whole thing is a bad idea. Good for stretches, bad as a long term deal. Too confining in too many ways. You can't haul many books, for example. Don't have much electricity to spare. Etc. For a week or two or maybe even six, not a bad way to go. All the time? Have a lot of trouble with that.

I really enjoyed this book. I have been a full time RV:er, but I currently live in a house. I picked up the book because I miss the simplicity of the RV life. If I hadn't already spent 2,5 years in an RV I probably would of thought it to be too complicated for me after reading this book. The book breaks down everything in tiny details, which is great if you never spent any time in an RV. Many great ideas for making things more enjoyable on the road. The book is a "new" edition that came out 2002. The way our society have changed since then, have contributed to a simpler RV life than the life the book describes. Still a very good read from experienced RV:er's. If you're new to RV:ing it's definitely worth reading. There is many considerations, and most of them are covered in this book.

Meh- it was OK. I liked that they gave you some real info & didn't downplay the realities, but it was really directed toward people who live a conventional life. For those of us already living a more unconventional life it is of minimal help. If you are used to camping *alot* or you are a real minimalist or have lived in a tiny house this can safely be passed by. If you live the traditional American life it may be of some help.
