The fae world isn’t fueled by magic. It’s fueled by fear.
The Hopeless realm isn’t at all what Zakara expected it to be. And neither is she. The powers of the Eminence are hard to harness and she needs them now more than ever.
Survival of the human world suddenly depends on her.
But more dangers lurk in the realm than they realize.
This is book three of a reverse harem series. Recommended for readers 18 and over.
A.K. Koonce is a USA Today best selling author. She's a mom by day and a fantasy and paranormal romance author by night. She keeps the fantastical stories in her mind on an endless loop, while she tries her best to focus on her actual life and not that of the spectacular but demanding fictional characters who always fill her thoughts
Well shit! What am I supposed to do now? The wait for book 4 is gonna suck! I swear each book in this series gets better and better! I loved seeing the Hopeless Realm and find out what Kara really is! Also the sexiness got ramped up and it made me a happy girl!!!
*I received an ARC copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.
Book three in the Hopeless series. Things are really getting serious for Zakara now. After getting her powers she is still fleeing for her life with Ryder while the twins gave them a chance to escape. Both are injured and have to recover. Being trapped together leads to some interesting fireworks as she tries to keep him as a friend only. I was loving the personal development going on and the focus in inner feelings so they could be worked out instead of ignored. There is lots of suspense to the arcing story line as well to keep the reader totally hooked even after the other guys catch back up. The end was amazing with a nice surprise that I really did not see coming. I cannot wait to see what happens next with this group I consider this series a must read for fans of the genre. I really loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.
I’m done with these I barely finished that last one. These books lack something intrinsic. I gave them a shot hoping it would get better but it just doesn’t. Save your self...!!!
Again like my other review, it really is sooo short nothing happens in this storey. There could be so much more explored in this new realm but it feels too rushed. I feel like the author is going for 4 books but they could have just made it into 2 really awesome books. To me there is so much that needs to still happen I don’t know how she will fill it all in the next book.
4.25 Stars I really liked this installment in The Hopeless series. It was fast paced, constantly had my attention, and always had my laughing. The problems I had with the previous book was resolved and I enjoyed this book a lot. I didn't like Kara at the beginning of this series. I thought that she was extremely cocky and I thought that her pride would be her downfall. I am happy to say that my opinion on her has changed and Kara has certainly grown on me. She makes some decisions that I would never make, but I think that only makes her character more intriguing to me. I never know what she is going to do and that is a highly entertaining aspect of her character. I would say that this was Ryder's book. I complained in the last book about the development of his and Kara's relationship. I said that they hadn't really spent a lot of personal time together. I was really hoping for their connection to grow and that is exactly what I got in this book. I got the development I wanted and all of the fireworks that come with that. It was highly entertaining and fun to watch. Overall, I really enjoyed this book. The cliffhanger at the end wasn't completely shocking, but that didn't take away from my reaction to it. I am having a lot of fun reading this series and I will be continuing it with Hopeless Sacrifice .
Another great instalment in the hopeless series. Kara and her 3 fae loves fighting for the mortal realm against an unexpected enemy and not everything is as Kara thought it would be. Can not wait for the fourth and final instalment of the series.
Aaah! You! You did it again!!! I knew it! Nefarious is the perfect word for you! Gah! The further I get into this series, the deeper I fall in love with Zakara, Darrio, Ryder, and Daxdyn! I was terrified to start this as the characters are separated initially by space and realm. I worried for the Brothers, but I also loved the growth in her relationship with Ryder, their friendship, and the chemistry! Wow! We learn more about Zakara, and who she is meant to be in this book. There is definitely action and tension in this book, I was afraid to turn the pages at so many points! What I truly loved, though were the new connections she made, and the potential of a new beast in her corner! Yay! Once again, I was left hanging with questions, but there is a total surprise reveal at the end that will change quite a few things! The future is looking quite ominous and daunting for our travel weary crew, but there is also promise, as well. Maybe all isn't as hopeless as we think? Although, I am scared for the next book and what will come, I loved the relationship growth and connections in this book. I will soldier on beside these beautifully, imperfect characters, and wish and hope that they get the happy ending they all deserve!
I really liked this book. The Hopeless Realm is beautiful and deadly, what a wonderful combination as always. Just like our dear Kara.
I’m so excited for where they’re story will take us and what we can expect from The Realm Of The Gods. What it means for the child that grows inside her, and whose it is.
I’m glad we got to know Ryder more here, even though most of the time they had alone together was spent reminiscing about Dax and Rio. We got to see how kind and loving he is, even though sometimes he pretends not to be. We got to see Rio’s stiff and controlled nature open up in unexpected ways. And there were some truly beautiful moments with Dax as well.
It’s honestly shocking with the revelation of the true Eminence, and I definitely enjoyed the little glimpse into the Travelers we got. I wish these books were longer. We only get small insights into a lot of things, and with how amazing the writing is I believe expanding on some things and extending the book would make these stories only more magical.

Book three in this series does not disappoint and like the first two books really drags the readers attention into the story! By this stage in the series I am so invested in following Zakara, Darrio (my favourite), Dax and Ryder that I Hoover these stories so quickly and am left wanting more each time!!! In this book we get to see the connection between Kara and Ryder develop while they are separated from the brothers. We also start to learn more about Kara and how she fits, but I still have so many questions! I absolutely loved the little cliffhanger of an ending and can’t wait to see how this develops in the next book! I love Rio choosing Kara over all others and publicly admitting his feeling! I cannot wait for book 4...I need more of these four great characters! Highly recommended...do yourself a favour and get into this series!
It just keeps getting better and better. Yes, I think the author could give us more character and world building. I'm not even terribly sure what the guy hair colors are. Know their eyes. I think this may be a flaw in writing first person. You are limited to that point of view quite literally and this character doesn't spend much time thinking about her world, the face world or other people. Despite these things, I can see the writer getting better the further she gets into the series. I think if she works on those things I mentioned, she could be an outstanding g writer.
This was more of the same things as was in the previous 2 books. I'm starting to lose a bit of interest, though, because the world building that Koonce has done isn't helpful to me, for some reason. I'm wondering if there is another series that is based in this world that she wrote before? This is my first series by this author, and I'm just an observer rather than an active participant like I usually am when reading novels.
I did enjoy the interactions between Kara and her 3 men. The ending was a cliffhanger, so I'll be intrigued to see what happens in the 4th book based on the bold statement given, plus the official war that Kara is leading.
3.5 STARS!!! This story started with action from the beginning. There's a lot more to Zakara than what meets the eyes. In the previous books Zakara and Ryker always had this distance between them; she was never as close to him as she was Daxdyn and Darrio but this book definitely closes the distance between them. There are a lot of steamy scenes. Zakara, Ryder, Daxdyn and Darrio come to terms with their relationship and they get a glimpse of what can happen if they don't change the outcome. This story ends with another cliffhanger with Daxdyn keeping secrets. I'm looking forward to the final book in this series.
This is one hell of a book!!! Things have gotten more complicated, but oh so much better at the same time. Kara is on a journey not only to save her people, but to find herself, to learn who she is, what she wants, and who and what makes her happy. Even tho she now has wings, she has become even more relatable. Dax, Darrio and Ryder join her on this tale; oh what a trio to have by her side. She finds herself in The Hopeless Realm and discovers what her next steps need to be to fulfill her destiny!
Such an amazing story, was glad to see Kara getting some one on one time with Ryder always felt he was being left out in the previous 2 books. There is a lot of twists and turns in this 3rd installment of the hopeless series. The pacing is great and the only time it slowed was an appropriate time. And oh man is the sexual tenuous (🔥 Ryder 🔥 ) up there in this one and the sex scenes are so well written you might even blush (I did) 😀. Very well done on this book.
This is my favorite by far. More action taking place since they have more struggles and are making there way across a new dangerous realm. The three seem to be finding their seamless in their chaotic relationship. For a good portion of the first half of this book, it's just Ryder and Kara where lead they await Fax and Rios return. They become great friends and learn to trust one another, before adding another element to the relationship once the others are safe. Lots of twists and turns along the way, especially the cliffhanger.
Zakara is the Emminence or an angel or some special fae. Really, no one knows what she is. What I do know is that she is loved by three men that would do anything for her. Meeting their friends and families has been interesting. I wish there was more interaction with them. Dealing with the King of Juvar is going to be much harder than they thought and the Hopeless weren't what I was expecting. I think they have been waiting for war for a long time.
2.5 stars. This series is one of those where the MC is "the special one" and with each book and practically each chapter she gets more and more special and it's so stupid. and the plot is really only there to give the characters something to angst about while they do their relationship and sex stuff. But am I going to read the last book anyway? Yes yes I am. Because each audiobook is only like 4 hours long (I know right?!) and it's just easy to listen to.
This book no this series so far is beyond amazing. The story just sucks you in and won't let go and I love every second of it. You have badass female and strong sexy men. The story was perfectly written. You can't go wrong with this series for real read it. Wow love this so much.
Wow. I have no words with how this book left me feeling. I am still in love with Darrio. Possibly even more so since he tries so hard to be who he thinks Kara wants him to be. But Ryder and Dax made me fall quickly in love. And this story line is amazing you can picture the worlds AK describes. Love it!
This book starts right where the previous left off & there are some changes to the MC which are pretty awesome. There is alot more on her shoulders and it makes her wonder can she really do it all? This book will captivate you from the start & can't wait to get the next book.
3.5 stars for this outing. This is one RH that doesn't suck, I love how the relationships in this one feel natural.
Overall the book could be stronger but the interactions between the characters is so well done. The three guys have very distinct personalities which the author portrays very credibly and they also feel natural as a team and equally strong as love interests.
