Call Me, Irresistible

Rate this book
Impulsive. Irresponsible. Impossible. Lemon Kelly lives in a world that is fast, loud and a little bit crazy. She left her small hometown for the bright lights of Nashville and has been living her dream ever since. She's traveled the world and plays her music for crowds of adoring fans. She has everything she ever wanted. Only the wants of a 17-year-old girl vary greatly from the needs of a grown woman. Is it selfish to want something more, something like the love she writes songs about? Can a girl have two dreams? Or will she have to give up one to get the other? And if so... which? Fame or a family of her own? Stable. Solid. Safe. Shane Lowry likes his quiet, controlled life. The always responsible small town deputy is a father to his three daughters first and foremost. Nothing comes before them. He had to grow up fast and early and he's long since stopped letting silly things like lust control his actions. He doesn't even date. So why does he find himself so drawn to the lively girl next door turned country music superstar that is the complete opposite of what he should want in a woman? If he lets her in, she'll shake up his entire world. He knows it. But is that a good thing or a very bad thing? The sparks between them are undeniable. The pull irresistible. And if they take a chance they just might find what they've both been missing. *Call Me, Irresistible is a standalone, full length, contemporary romance novel set in Fate, Texas with a guaranteed HEA. It is intended for audiences 18+ due to language and sexual situations. If you enjoy the quirky characters in this little town, try other releases by Jess Bryant set in Fate such as the West Brothers Series. *

Jess holds a degree in Public Relations from the University of Oklahoma and is a lifetime supporter of her school and athletic teams. And why not? They have a ton of National Championships! One word. REFRESHING! FINALLY, a book I wasn't rolling my eyes at! These characters weren't crazy!

Jess Bryant was able to write a sweet hometown romance with angst that wasn't over the top. This story was so relatable, and still extremely interesting. If you're not picking up what I'm putting down, what I mean is... sometimes stories that have NORMAL, everyday angst can be boring, but Jess did an amazing job writing characters that were fun, likable, and had problems that you felt deep inside of you. (Holy run-on!)

The one thing I'd like to say about the hero, is thank freaking whoever for Shane Lowry. Alpha, manly, a hot sexy single dad, AND he has a freaking BRAIN in his head that is full of common sense. Don't get me wrong, I love a lovable bonehead, but common sense. THAT is sexy.

Lemon is so refreshing as well. She's like a positive breath of fresh air. She has so much going on, but she's amazing despite it. I love that she has a good attitude even though she is holding some deep stuff in. Yes, she has her moments, but I feel she was a well balanced and well written character.

These two just click together and it's fun to read. I love the dynamic of a single dad and the music star! It doesn't seem like it should work at all! Their lives are way too different! Not something I've ever read before, and once you dive in you'll see how fun and interesting their connection is!

All in all this was a great read and I hope to see more from the characters in this book! So many side characters that I'm not over yet!!

If you like a sexy romance read that has you captivated, smiling, swooning & clenching your thighs all within chapter one - then this book is for you!

From the first few lines, I knew Lemon Kelly was my kinda chick. She's sassy, funny, sexy, honest and perfectly flawed.

Then there's Shane Lowry - talk about a total DILF!!! OMFG, this guy is book boyfriend perfection. Strong, sexy, reliable & deliciously alpha... maybe more than he even knows. (Wink, Wink!)

The chemistry between Lemon & Shane thrums throughout the entire book, perfectly woven into their story & it's everything from sweet as hell to hot AF! Their banter and the way they bring the best out in each other had me highlighting most of the book.

It didn't matter to me at all who's POV the chapter was in (Shane or Lemon's), both characters were so relatable, I was flipping the pages almost faster than I could read them. So naturally, I *had* to re-read some of the "scenes" a few times (insert a double eyebrow raise here).

Beautifully written, everything about their story was believable & realistic. Not only was I completely engaged and entertained by Lemon & Shane's unfolding love story, I was hit with raw emotion that snuck up on me when I wasn't expecting it. Not ashamed to say I had to swallow a few throat lumps.

This was my first trip to Jess Bryant's, Fate, Texas - and in case you haven't worked it out yet - I loved every moment. I'll be back.

*I was provided an ARC of this book, with no expectation on the part of the author that they would receive a positive review in exchange. My review reflects my genuine opinion of this book.*

I could not put this book down. Loved every minute of it. The romance is super sweet, there's minimal drama, and the sexy times are HOT. It's basically my perfect romance novel. Also: single dad with a hot body who has only ever been with one woman. Its perfect. Five stars. Highly recommend.

Awwww Lemon and Shane. What a sweet cute gorgeous sexy friends to lovers story. I was just filled with feels throughout and I just love the family oriented setting, I'd love to live in that town.

Sidenote: Best heroine name.

And Shane was so bossy I swooned.

This was my first book by Jess Bryant, and it definitely won't be the last.

There were so many things that I loved about this book. Lemon Kelly is possibly the most adorable name of a heroine, ever. I don't know where Ms. Bryant pulled that name from, but it is as endearing as it gets, and to top it all off, the character was as lovable as they get, and easy to relate to.

And let's talk about our hero for a moment also. Shane Lowry. Oh, my God, where do I find one of him? I'm not the biggest fan of the alpha male trend, but I don't like wussy boys, either. Shane is a nice balance of the two. He's got control, but he's sensitive when he needs to be. He's funny, but he's also serious at the right moments. He's ridiculously hot, but not unrealistically, and the sex? Good Lord. The steam level in this book was off the charts, and I blame Shane for it entirely.

But even apart from the characters, I just loved this story. It was cute, it was sweet, it was real. Ms. Bryant has this way of making you feel, of making you see the things she's describing. She excels at the small town romance, something I'm a big fan of, and I cannot wait to get my hands on another one of her books.

Call Me, Irresistible is the first Fate, Texas, novel I've read and it didn't diminish my enjoyment to read it out of order. Of course, I'll be reading the others ASAP because I loved this book so much.

Lemon Kelly has a reputation as being flighty and irresponsible. As a teenager, she ran off to Nashville to pursue her music dreams, which she achieved. Now she's back in her hometown and staying with her parents to regroup after getting some unfortunate news. Shane Lowry has been a life-long rule follower and now he enforces the law as a sheriff's deputy and tries to maintain order as the divorced father of three daughters.

Other reviewers have remarked about the maturity and common sense demonstrated by the characters and I have to agree. It was tremendous to read about characters who trust each other and talk out difficulties rather than jumping to conclusions and running away. Even Shane and his ex-wife, Holly, have an enviable relationship based on trust and cooperation and true goodwill for one another.

Please don't think all that maturity adds up to a boring story because this is anything but boring! The plot is well-paced, the dialogue is natural, and the sex is off-the-charts hot! I absolutely recommend this book.

*ARC received from author, in exchange for an honest review*

I really liked this romance. It was funny, sweet, endearing, and sexy, sexy, sexy. I loved Shane from the get go because of the love he had for his daughters. What is sexier than a devoted dad whose world is his children? Plus the fact that he was mature and didn't have some bitter relationship with his ex-wife was great. Lemon was a free spirit, but was weighed down by a devastating secret. I really felt for what she was going through and I was so happy Shane was there to brighten up her life. Their relationship were so cute. Their banter was hilarious and they were exactly what each other needed. There was some drama towards the end, but to say I was impressed by the way Shane handled it is a huge understatement. I simply adore him for that.
It was a real joy getting to know Shane's daughters and watching him deal with some of the pitfalls of parenthood. The epilogue tied everything up really nice and was just the ending I wanted.

This book takes place in the small town of Fate, Texas as many of Jess Bryant's books do. I had a friend tell me this was like a hug in a book and I have to agree. I spent much of the time that I was reading this with a huge smile that I couldn't erase from my face. My cheeks actually hurt by the time I was done.

Lemon was such a fun and entertaining heroine. She was a music superstar who ran back to her small hometown . She was missing something and it was something she never thought she could have. She found it when the town deputy took a liking to her.

Shane Lowry was a divorced single father . You would think that there would be ex-wife drama but no . I loved Shane's ex Holly. Their kids were even sweet. I loved the way Shane turned into a complete caveman when it came to Lemon.

This book had it all. Lemon was one of my favorite heroines ever and I loved the family setting in this book. I didn't want it to end. It was exactly like my friend said . It was a hug in a book!

Instantly, I was entranced by these characters and their story.

Lemon & Shane were fated to another and their love story was the perfect blend of hot and steamy and simple and sweet.
I loved her wants in life and that the answers were under her nose.
The story was beautifully told and I was just a little disappointed when I read the last page, because I wanted more... I want more Lemon & Shane!!! More more more!

Call Me, Irresistible was the first Jess Bryant novel that I have read. I had never heard of her and came upon this book and after reading the blurb I knew that I had to get my hands on a copy.

Lemon is a superstar of every proportion. Not only is she gorgeous but she has the pipes and song writing skills to back up every song she sings. You look at Lemon and think that she has it all. That is until she leaves her Nashville home in the wee hours of the morning to go home to Fate, TX. Fate, TX is home, and home is exactly where she needs to be right now. Lemon jumps into her Range Rover and heads home to see the people she loves the most sans body guard and her very own keeper, her Assistant Millie. As she gets home she notices that her parents aren't home and she goes to look for a key when someone calls to her and asks what she is doing. She looks up and realizes Shane Lowry is standing in front of her in his uniform and she can't think of anything else other that what he looks like without that uniform on.

Shane is a responsible, dependable, Sherriff's deputy who has three girls who call him daddy. He hasn't dated since his divorce to his best friend and ex-wife Holly because he doesn't want to get hurt much less his girls get hurt. Even though his ex wife has encouraged him to date and have fun. He is adamant about not dating until he is almost home and he sees some woman at the Kelly residence trying to break and enter. Shane go to check it out and this beautiful woman who gets things stirred up inside him he has had happen in a long time. And then he recognizes her, the girl who always used to tag along with his little brother and was always around. He couldn't help but stare when he noticed Lemon Jane Kelly. She definitely wasn't the girl he remembered growing up around.

Jess Bryant did an amazing job with this book! It is my first and it definitely will not be my last!! I enjoyed every aspect of this book. It took me through every emotion from happiness to sadness all the way to tears. I am not an easy crier when it comes to books. So much of this book was an emotional ride that I loved every minute of.

Lemon Kelly was super relatable besides the millionaire part, but other than that I was consistently rooting for her and Shane even though there were obstacles that many people would have trouble talking to family about much less a lover. Lemon and Shane were courageous and so loveable for the way they loved each other. Not only were they unwavering in their love for one another they were perfect for each other.

This book was such a great read and I hope that you will take a chance and read it!

This was one of those small town sexy sweet and extra cute and fuzzy stories that you instantly love, instantly take to and can't put down until the last word is spoken. I fell hard for both Lemon and Shane, it was impossible not to love these two lead characters. Both funny and adorable and Shane is gorgeous book boyfriend material, and super bossy! my gosh! My heart was pounding for his bossiness.

The book is littered with quotable lines, my kindle is covered in pink highlighter. I love that Jess didn't have to convey terrible drama and angst to write a gorgeous book or to keep me interested, it just effortlessly flowed and I loved the secondary characters, especially Shane's kids (do we see a future book in store for Georgie???? )

"He had one hand on the butt of his gun, as if she might be a threat, and she was standing here imagining him naked."

Being a long distance runner, I loved the added details of their running scenes. I'd volunteer to get up early every morning if it were to run with Shane!

All the Cuff Me stars for Officer Lowry!

I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of the book.

I was blown away by how much I loved this book and from very early on. I mean, I was in tears at 37% and any book that can pull that much emotion from my cold, cynical heart is a winner. I really loved the way the story was told - it's told in third person but each chapter alternates focus from Lemon (the female lead) to Shane (the male lead). I loved Shane and Lemon from the very beginning and watching them come together was so beautiful. Just having the fantasy of ending up with your childhood crush (though vicariously through a fictional character)is so gratifying! The chemistry between Lemon and Shane is intense and delicious and I wish the book was 500 more pages just so that I could get more of the two of them. I love the theme of chasing your dreams, the strong family elements, as well as reading about two grown @$$ people acting like grown @$$ people. We have exes that communicate and co-parent happily and successfully and sisters that actually love and rely on each other instead of harboring jealousy and pettiness. The book was just delightful and heartfelt and real. Shane and Lemon are relationship goals in so many ways and I just LOVED THIS BOOK SO MUCH! 5 out of 5 wine glasses.

This was my first story by this author and it was cute. Rockstar Lemon comes home to run. She runs right in to Shane who has had her heart since she knew what love was. Shane has a lot to think about before diving into this with Lemon. I liked how his thought process with a relationship went. He has three beautiful girls to consider after all. His ex and he had a dynamic I found funny at times. It was enjoyable that it wasn't a horrid divorce and they still were able to co-parent.
Lemon has secrets and she keeps them close to her heart. The heart she doesn't want to get broken. She definitely felt like a free spirit to me. I loved how she played and connected with Sophie, but also described how it was her. The guitar, music, and everything was her, it flowed from her soul and out her fingers into music.
Overall I found the story cute and a fun read. I did have some moments that I was like YOU IDIOT as I was reading but that made for an enjoyable read. There were several small plot issues that I felt weren't resolved and that left me a bit bummed. I would still read another story by this author.

Oh my freaking God! Why am I just now reading my first Jess Bryant book? Simply incredible writing, and a true storyteller. This book is a full length love story with a HEA. It features country singing sensation Lemon who runs away from Nashville, back to Fate TX. She's running to avoid a problem in her life. Being back in Fate makes her feel safe, even if her childhood crush now lives across the street from her childhood home and wears a sexy as hell deputy's uniform. This book is emotional, I felt so much pain and sympathy for Lemon. Her troubles truly hit home with me. Such an amazing read.

Jess has once again absolutely smashed it!! I fell in love with Jess's writing in Fate years ago and she has not disappointed again.
This story had me captivated from the first page and I could not put it down. Lemon and Shane are so completely different, their personalities could not clash anymore if they tried and yet they just work, the way that they balance each other out and really learn to grow is inspiring. This story had me laughing and crying and wanting the kind of family and love that these two have. Make sure to have some tissues around and definitely a pint of ice cream.

Call me, irresistible
Jess Bryant

With a short and sweet first description, I loved this heartfelt romantic book.

Lemon and Shane were two amazing forces of everything I adore in a love story. The sincerity of their love, their connection pulls you in and begs for the happily ever after.

It was a slow start read for me. Once I was pulled in, it sucked me in. I loved these characters because they just seemed real. Not big drama that didn't seem obtainable but the author portrayed real life problems that made me relate to them.

Lemon was suffering alone with her issues just as so many women do. I think we can all feel a connection to her and her struggles. I'm not a spoiler reviewer so I won't go into details of her issues- I know, bummer. Go get the book and dive into this sweet sweet character.

Shane, oh sweet, sexy Shane- he was a divorced father a three that had dedicated his life to his three daughters. He was knocked sideways by Lemon walking back in to his life. He lived life the right way and was a strong force in this book for me. I may be swooning- just a pinch.

This was very much a second chance love story and those are and will forever be my favorite love stories.

Favorite quote from this book~
"Why not? This is Fate. Anything is possible, right?"
And it is, right?!

This is my first book by Ms Bryant and won't be my last.

Happy reading peeps!

I received an advanced copy of this book with the promise of an honest review.

This book came along at the perfect time. Don't get me wrong, look forward to reading Jess' books, but after reading a string of books that made me cry a lot, this book was just what I needed. It was funny, lighthearted and just a freaking delight to read. And the banter! I LOVE banter. And if the banter is so good that it's essentially foreplay...EVEN BETTER.

Case in point:
“Wow, was that three miles already?” She huffed slightly.

“Yeah.”

“That went fast right?” She put her hands on her hips as she slowed to a walk and he pulled up beside her, “Or is that just me?”

“No, it went fast. Barely felt like work.”

“I guess the secret is good company.” She smiled up at him and he barely resisted the urge to brush a loose strand of hair off her sweaty forehead.

Her cheeks were flushed and her eyes were bright. She was breathing hard, causing her breasts to push against the spandex bra she was wearing. She licked her lips and he had to force his gaze away from her mouth.

Jesus, she was sweaty and panting and all he could think about was how she’d look the same way naked and in his bed after he satisfied the urge to drive into her sweet little body over and over and over again. There was something wrong with him. His libido hadn’t been this overwhelming since he was a horny, teenage boy that just figured out what his dick was for.

Shane forced himself to step back and put some more space between them, “I guess it is. That was fun.”

“It was fun. Thanks for inviting me.”

“Thanks for making it interesting.”

She grinned, “Want to do it again tomorrow?”

Tomorrow. Yes. He tried not to immediately nod his head like an overeager puppy. Yes. He’d told her that he ran every day before work. She could join him every morning while she was here. It would be hell on his dick and his showers would have to be cold afterwards but he’d get the pleasure of her company all to himself for a little while and he’d get to start his day on a high note.

“Sure.” He shrugged, “You’ll have to get up a little earlier if you plan to start with me. I do ten miles on Saturdays.”

“But it’s the weekend, shouldn’t you do less or something?” She whined, “Even God rested on the weekend right?”

“He rested on Sunday and so do I. On Saturday, I run ten. Are you in?”

“Yeah, sure fine.” She shrugged, “My trainer would love you, making me run on my vacation.”

“I’m not making you do anything. You don’t have to run with me. I only offered.”

“Like I’m gonna turn down all of that.” She motioned to his chest again, “Speaking of shirts, don’t wear one, like ever. You should never, ever, cover that chest.”

He laughed and stepped back again, “Go inside, Lemon. We’re done here.”

“Bossy bastard.”

“Incurable flirt.”

She grinned, “You stop flirting with me and I’ll stop flirting with you.”

She had him there and they both knew it. He couldn’t seem to help himself. It was just like with their arguments. It had always been the same way, even when they were kids. She volleyed and he had to serve it back. Vice versa, she always had a comeback for him. And it was fun.

“I’ll see you tomorrow morning.” He started walking backwards towards his house.

“See you, Shane.” She rolled a finger wave at him, “Have a good day at work.”

“Thanks. You have a good day…doing whatever it is you’re doing here.”

“Resting.” She shrugged, “I’m just taking a few days to rest.”

“Then rest, because we’re doing ten miles tomorrow.”

“Nazi.”

“Tease.”

She giggled, “Bye Shane.”

“See you later, Lemon.” He grinned before forcing himself to turn and jog back to his house.

SEE!! Banter = foreplay. 🔥🔥🔥🔥

Lemon and Shane have know each other for a long time. Growing up, her best friend was Shane's brother and she always had a bit of a crush on him. But she left town to follow her dreams of being a country music star and Shane married his high school sweetheart. But now Lemon is home for an undetermined amount of time and Shane is a divorced father of three, living across the street from Lemon's parents. So yeah, they are going to see each other a lot.

Lemon is doing a bit of hiding out when she returns home. She has suffered a bit of a personal loss and just wants to lay low for a while. Her reunion with Shane was very funny and it was obvious that these two were going to get along just fine. At first they fall back into the relationship they had growing up. Lemon was the younger pest who was always hanging out with Shane's younger brother and Shane was the older, stick in the mud brother. But it doesn't take long for them to realize that they have both grown up...in more ways that one.

I found myself constantly smiling whenever Lemon and Shane were together. They made such a wonderful couple. They were playful and fun but also sexy and even serious when they needed to be. There are sweet moments between them and some were just off the charts ghost pepper hot. Shane would get all Alpha with her and I would need a cold shower. And although their relationship moves at breakneck speed, it just feels right. Lemon fits into his family quite flawlessly. It's everything she always wanted and if Shane has anything to say about it, it is also everything she will get. GAHHHHHHHHHH! I loved them so much.

I could go on and on about how much I love Shane and Lemon, but just do yourself a favor and 1-click this book. You won't be disappointed!

This was my first book by Jess Bryant and was pleasantly surprised. I loved it and was sad to see it end. I'm not a big fan with standalone's because they move so fast and I feel like things get lost throughout the story. I'm the girl that likes juicy- meaty- details that come with series BUT this book is a standalone with series writing. No detail was left unwritten. Props to Jess Bryant for her talent in writing that could bring it all in one big beautiful bang. Lemon cracked me up and at the same time pulled at my heart strings. AND Shane....well, hot damn, Shane was just man-juicy-deliciousness! You will fall in love with his alpha ways. I totally recommend this book and this author.

I really enjoyed this book. A complex blend of heart and heat easily pull you into this story and have you deeply involved in this couple and their happiness. Shane and Lemon are opposites in so many ways. Together though they are like yin and yang, they create a balance in each other which is very welcome. This reads storyline offers sweetness, drama, steam, angst, witty banter, humor and plenty of emotions. Amazing chemistry, a fun plot and heart stealing characters make this a book that is not to be missed. This is my honest, voluntary review.

I couldn't stop the permanent smile that appeared on my face from a few short pages into this book, until the end.

It was sexy, fun, and romantic in a very sexy way.

Shane was irresistible, and quite frankly perfect. I mean who doesn't dream about a guy in uniform, who's gorgeous, and ripped. This guy was witty, sexy, athletic, nice with an edge, a great father, and he cooked. He had all sorts of qualities that made him a perfect ten in my book. I named him the romantic dominant, because he was just omg!

Lemon and Shane were electric together. Their characters were perfect, and their history was fun.

Lemons past, and tragic news was what brought her back home, but it also was what made her realise what home really meant. She was running, and Shane was determined to be the reason she could stop.

This storyline was beautiful, and beautifully written. This was my first book by this author, and I am so glad I had an opportunity to read her work. Won't be my last.

I loved this book!! Just like the character’s name Lemon it was so refreshing to read! Jess Bryant is a new author to me and I loved her writing style, her characters were amazing and the pace of the book was just great. I was completely swept up in Lemon and Shane’s story. Lemon was such a lovely character and I cried many times with her once her issues finally came out. They hit quite close to home for me so I could imagine every single emotion she was feeling. I enjoyed the banter between her and Shane. The end twist in the story really surprised me and it’s only of the reasons I think I enjoyed the story so much. I thought I had guessed what was going to happen and I am so glad I was wrong!! Shane was a great alpha male character but also such an amazing Dad, he had a great relationship with his children that really shone through in this story.
I read the story quite quickly as I couldn’t put it down and I will definitely be looking to read more from this author in the future. I really enjoyed this book!!

First things first. I’m a lemon junkie and when I read that the heroine’s name is Lemon, I had to read this book, no matter the topic. About a few pages in, I thought, okay. Same old Same old. Country Star meets childhood crush/ single dad and yeah, we get the typical problems they endure.
Well, yeah, I thought wrong and got a real good surprise. Lemon and Shane had problems that were deeper than skin deep. Deeper than I expected. And they made me cry. The author managed to portray their thoughts and feelings and everything between in a way that made my heart hurt with their pain and made me jump in joy when they were happy.
I got sucked in the story with only a few more pages and the writing style made it easy to connect with the characters. Even the side characters were well developed and fun to see/read. The big bang happened in a way that was foreseeable, what I didn’t expect was how mature the characters handled it. There was no big blowout, instead they sat down, analyzed the situation and TALKED to each other. It was SO REFRESHING to read characters who actually behaved normal instead of over the top jealous caveman.
Don’t mistake me, the hero is an over the top alpha male and there’s lots and lots of cavemannish behavior in this book, but for once. When it mattered, he stayed calm and I thank the author for this really enjoyable read and conclusion.
