Sissy's Romance Book Review
Lady Charlotte by Vicki Hopkins is the story of Charlotte and Albert.
Charlotte was a young widow whose older husband died and she is trying to enjoy her new life. Although, her cousin Cedric feels she has gone to far with it and ask his friend Albert to reform her.
Charlotte sees Albert as a strait lace, by the book...stiff person so she only agrees to this if he will agree to go along with her on some of her 'scandalous' activities.
The betting books are hot with who is going to reform who for

I ve read Vicki Hopkins books , she is an brilliant author ... so was a bit disappointed with this book ... i found the book ok ...It was very predictable also found the characters portrayed went overboard in there emotions & actions ...
Lady Charlotte is a widow bold, open, brash & scandalous & doesn't believe in being conventional, Albert Beckett is a honest, straight but also arrogant , untainted man with a remarkable reputation ...He accepts the challenge to reform Lady Charlotte's character .

Lady Charlotte is a beautiful, spirited, scandalous widow and her family feels that she must be taken in hand. Her cousin Cedric feels that Lord Beckett a strict moralist is the very one to teach her how to behave. Charlotte insists that she should have a chance to reform Albert also known as a pompous ass. The bets go on in a gentleman's club as to who will win. Charlotte takes Albert to a few of her favorite places ,he is scandalized but goes. Underneath the reputation for doing as she pleases ...more

While opposites can certainly be said to attract, extreme opposites, not so much. Wealthy widow, Lady Charlotte Rutherford’s behavior constantly courts scandal. Her cousin is determined to tame her and convinces his friend, Albert, to moderate her behavior. Albert is known for his good bearing and moral standing. Although there is an instant physical attraction, the two are extreme opposites in beliefs and actions. There is much to like about this book. The writing is fine and the premise amusin ...more

It is six months after Lady Charlotte's elderly husband has died and she is living her scandalous life with plenty of money to do as she pleases. Her cousin, Cedric worries about her and decides to do something to bring her around to being more socially acceptable. He gives the challenge to his very straight laced friend Albert Beckett to change her. Charlotte agrees to what they ask if Albert will do one of her chosen events after she does what he asks. Before long things get completely out of ...more

A historical romance with an interesting premise, Lady Charlotte follows two opposing sides hellbent on bringing the other to their own side. Charlotte herself is an absolute delight. Strong, humorous, and comfortable with her own sexuality, she is everything you don’t typically find in historical romances. Her counterpart Albert, however, is exactly what you’d expect from a snobby Lord. Their interaction with both hilarious and filled with chemistry.

I honestly expected the story to go in a dif

What a fun read this was! Two people, Lady Charlotte and Albert, Lord Beckett have extremely opposite personalities. The former enjoys her scandalous reputation but there is more to Charlotte than her outward appearance. Albert is strait laced and correct in all his ways and gives little thought to those less fortunate. It was enthralling to read of their differences but also how they affected each other. This is ideal for a light hearted summer time read. I received a copy and have voluntarily ...more

Loved the book. The challenge initiated by Cedric to his cousin, Charlotte (to seduce Beckett) and Lord Beckett (to reform Charlotte)was extremely well written. The bantering between the two kept your attention to the point you wanted to know what would happen next. It turns out Charlotte is not the spoiled, self-indulgent woman Albert thought her to be and Albert learned not to be a snob. It is a book full of humor and laughs. I would highly recommend this book for a great read. I received a co ...more

This is not the usual historical romance story. It deviates from the usual staidness and normalization of society. It instead shows flair and dramatics that make it a powerful tale of the types of changes that were taking place in England at the end of the 19th century. The characters were jovial and funny which are a direct foil to Albert’s rigidity. Eventually he recognizes his need for joy de vivre and comes around.

I struggled to get into this book at first, because I did not like Albert at all. He was, indeed, a pompous you know what. However, by the end of the book I was actually a little weepy eyed at his change of heart. I love a good character redemption. The story reminded me of The Scarlet Pimpernel, with a reversal in roles. Albert as Marguerite, and Charlotte as Percy. I liked the sparring between the characters and the clash of wills. I would read more books by this author.

OMG that was so funny!
Honestly brilliant!!

You gotta give it to Vicki to switch things around and have Charlotte being the corrupting force in this book! Don't you just love it when things go to the next level but just making a small change from the usual tropes?

Lady Charlotte was so good, I had such a great time reading the book, I laughed really hard in places and some were more touching, but overall a really lovely funny read and I highly recommend it.

Thanks NetGalley for the ARC!
