Violet Tendencies by Kate E. Dyer-Seeley is the second book in the cozy Rose City Mystery series. Each title in the series has its own case to be solved so they could be understood as a standalone however readers would miss some character building not beginning at the start of the series.

In the first book of the series readers met Britta Johnston who had returned home to the aunt that raised her and taken a job in her floral boutique, Blooma, along the banks of the Willamette in Portland,

I have been looking forward to heading back to Portland since I finished Natural Thorn Killers back in April. Britta Johnston and her aunt Elin have the most amazing flower shop and create such spectacular arrangements so having them design a beautiful, shining float for the annual Rose Parade is exciting. So much work with the help of just a few volunteers. But a group of protesters is ready to ruin everything. Dark Fusion, a gang, is determined to take down the system, starting with disrupting ...more

Those who follow my blog know I like animal stories and have a strong interest for tales with a garden background. This book features FLORAL design, an off shot of a garden. Britta Johnston has returned to Portland, Oregon to help Aunt Elin with her Floral Shop, Blomma. The shop has been selected for all the FLORAL Designs for the Rose Festival. There is good information on building a float. The Festival events are being chased by a group calling themselves Black Fusion. They hope to disrupt the ...more

I really enjoy this series! The Rose City Mystery series is set in Portland, Oregon. Britta Johnston and her aunt Elin run the flower shop, Blomma. In this book it is the annual Rose Festival time and the duo are working on a flower float. An unwelcome group with violent tendencies called Dark Fusion descends upon the festivities. The group's leader is soon found dead, strangled with a garland of violets and Britta is the one who finds his lifeless body. The mystery is good and the descriptive ...more

Violet Tendencies by Kate Dyer-Seeley sweeps readers to Portland, Oregon. Britta Johnston and her Aunt Elin own Blooma, a boutique European-inspired flower shop and wine bar. The pair were delighted when Blooma was chosen as the showcase florist for Portlands Rose Festival and they will be creating the centerpieces for the dignitaries dinner. They will also have a float in the parade featuring violets, but their joy is marred by protestors from a group called Dark Fusion outside the warehouse ...more

Violet Tendencies, the second in the A Rose City Mystery series, one which is becoming one of my favorite series. I love the Portland setting (I was born there) and the flower and wine shop theme. In this installment, Britta and her Aunt Elin are getting ready for their part in the city's Rose Festival by creating a huge float for the parade. A militant group of protesters are trying to stop the parade and lines are drawn with the police keeping order, until someone ends up dead, right on Britta ...more

This book grabbed my attention from the very beginning and I was transported to Portland as Britta and Aunt Elin prepared for the Rose Festival.

Working on a float for the big parade, Elin and Britta are full steam ahead producing a breathtaking design.
Not everyone is on board with the festivities and when a group called Dark Fusion begins steamrolling their plans, Britta finds herself in harm's way once again and is determined to find the truth.
I enjoy this series, it tells a fact filled story

Violet Tendencies is the second book in the Rose City Mystery series. In this installment we are leaving the flower shop and are being taken into a warehouse setting by the river where the floats for Portlands Rose festival are being built.

Protesters harassing the volunteers and flower shop owners and when the protest leader is found dead in the warehouse the situation is escalating. Unfortunately the murder is not happening until well into the story.

This theme did not quite catch my interest

Violet Tendencies by Kate E. Dyer-Seeley is the second book in the Rose City series set in Portland, OR. I was completely swept up in this complex mystery from the first chapter.

Britta has made Portland her home again and is enjoying every second of working in her Aunt Elin's flower shop, Blomma. Her creativity has bloomed (no pun intended)since she's been back in Portland. Ms. Dyer-Seeley's writing of Portland and the Riverwalk Village allowed me to feel as if I was in the midst of the story. I

This is the second installment in the Rose City series. It is Portland, Oregon's annual Rose Festival. Britta and her aunt Elin are preparing a grand float on behalf of their flower shop Blomma. But an anarchist group is causing ongoing disruption and the parade's director, Ted, seems to be antagonizing the situation. When someone is found dead on the Blomma float, Britta is determined to solve the mystery and ensure that the parade goes on.

With Portland 's annual parade of roses looking on the horizon, Brittany Johnston and her Aunt Elin are focused on decorating the float for their boutique florist, Blomma. Unfortunately, a group of anarchists are negligent on disrupting the parade. That is, until one of their leaders is found dead. Behind the scenes glimpses of float building and floral design add depth to the background and elevate the mystery. Very enjoyable! *I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.

If you don't love flowers before reading this book you definitely will by the time you are done. We get the the loveliest flower descriptions ever in these stories thanks to love of flowers from the main character Britta who runs a flower shop with her Aunt. The serene city of Portland is gearing up for its annual Rose parade and I will as not there is all kinds of things going on behind the scenes as

Britta Johnston and her aunt Elin are two wonderful characters in this floral themed mystery series. I really liked the theme of the Rose festival in this one. Those that want to stop this parade though The Dark Fusion gang. Now I found this part to be humorous, an evil gang out to take out the flowers. It is fun filled with action and great characters. In this delightful story filled with flowers, charm, and mystery there isnt a better read to find. ...more

Violet Tendencies is the second book in Kate Dyer-Seeleys A Rose City Mystery series. This is a well-plotted cozy mystery with a great cast of well-developed characters. Ms. Dyer-Seeleys descriptive writing makes the reader feel like theyre in Portland and experiencing everything along with the characters. The storyline flows smoothly at a steady pace. Multiple suspects, red herrings, and the twists and turns kept me guessing until the reveal.

Growing up in Los Angeles, I am familiar with the Rose Parade and all the pageantry (and hard work) that goes with it, so I was very interested in the backdrop for this novel Portlands annual Rose Festival. And the story did not disappoint. This is the second novel in the Rose City mysteries series, and although I hadnt read the first one, I was able to jump right into this one. I was immediately drawn in, not only by Britta and her Aunt Elin, but also by the elaborate descriptions about ...more

Flower Shop? Parade Float? Protesters? Murder? Everything entertaining in the second book of Kate Dyer-Seeleys Rose City Mystery series. To me Violet Tendencies seems a good standalone. I started here and with some revisiting past events and character connections, I was quickly in the loop. Kate penned a delightful first-person narrative from Brittany Johnson perspective sharing her inner thoughts (some humor included), vivid

It is time for Portland, Oregons annual Rose Festival. We have all enjoyed the parade on tv, but what happens behind the scenes, leading up to the final hours is fascinating.
Most of the action takes place in the `` float barn,`` a huge warehouse. Volunteers from all walks of life come together to work on various floats. Outside of the `barn` are protesters, claiming this is all just about money.
The book has to establish a balance, between the beauty of the flowers and flowering relationships,

I am so in love with this series. Everything about this book is magic, from the descriptions to the plot, to the characters. The setting really transports you and you feel you are in the town, walking along with the characters. I hope this series continues for a long time, I feel like there is still so much to learn and do with these characters.

Violet Tendencies by Kate Dyer-Seeley is the second in a new series. It takes place in Portland, Oregon and centers around a florist and her niece. Elin owns Blomma and adopted her niece, Britta, when her parents died at an early age. As happens with children, she grew up and moved away, had a dead-end job, and as it turned out, a dead-end marriage. I do love this series. This time Britta and her Aunt Elin are working on a float for the upcoming Rose Festival for the city of Portland. It is a great honor for Blooma to have a float and the tension is high as there is so much to get done and on top of that a protest group called Dark Fusion is harassing the volunteers as they go in to work on the floats. Blooma is fortunate to have a long time volunteer Gloria as the crew chief for the float. Aunt Elin is slightly distracted as her former ...more

Frankly, I got very bored with this book. The plot was too obvious, and I was irritated by the main character's daft actions, e.g. a witness tells her (Britta) about two characters behaving suspiciously, but instead of telling the woman to go and talk to the police (who are on-site) about what she saw, Britta decides to go and search someone's handbag, looking for an envelope that was passed between them. There are a couple more such instances, and I couldn't be bothered reading the entirely ...more
