The opening chapter discusses the idea of critical-point phenomena exhibiting universality in a wonderful manner. It truly is a shame because I really liked the book after reading the first few chapters. The RG and mode-coupling methods introduced to supplement the topics of the introductory chapter are a pleasure to read. However, that is where the appeal of this book ends. The chapter on homogenous turbulence is not well-written at all and you are better off consulting McComb's book on turbulence. McComb's book, while longer than the chapter in this book, provides a much better explanation.
