A post-modern deconstruction of "The Momma" joke? This is the only humor book I have ever bought and it was worth every penny and effort it took to get.
Maybe I am missing something here, but I did not even crack a smile while reading A Portrait of Yo Mama as a Young Man. For a book that is supposed to be funny, I found it to be quite unamusing and immature. A lot of the book didn't even make sense. I was only able to digest about half of the book before I finally had to put it down. My stomach is still churning from the pages I read. I love humor, but it has to be funny to make it humorous.
Otherwise, it is just a sad attempt and you will be booed off of the stage. Maybe this book is intended for . . . well, I can't think who would like this book. In my honest opinion, this is probably one of the worst books that I have ever read and wasn't worth the paper it was printed on. Now, this is only my opinion, so take that with a grain of salt. If you are looking for something about Yo Mama, well, you have found the right book.
I don't have much else to say about this dribble, so I will end it by saying that I am sorry that I wasted an hour reading the first half of A Portrait of Yo Mama as a Young Man. I wish I could have that hour back and forget I ever saw this book.
A book all about yo mama! Sure it's essentially one extended "yo mama" joke, but it's a joke with legs. The book is funny most of the time, but it's not without some painfully unfunny parts. You're betting off reading it in more than one sitting. Little doses, and it goes down great.
