Count bears from one to ten! Rookie Readers (Ages 5-7) have provided entertaining, high-quality introductions to reading for more than a generation. Each title features full-color, often hilarious illustrations and engaging stories that always involve a young child figuring out concepts or solving problems on his or her own.
These little books [Rookie Readers series] are getting to be my favorites and you know why? Because they're not baby books [board books] but they're also not really hard, so I can get most of the words. Except I'm not really sure about this one. I wanted a book about real bears. I guess teddy bears are OK when you live in the city like this boy does, but this is Vermont and we have real bears here. I've seen them! This is still a good one, though.
A counting book, for numbers 1-10. I thought the pictures of the bears chasing the little kid were a bit scary (so it's possibly not for kids with vivid imaginations) but my toddler liked the book.
