Tom Gates #14

Biscuits, Bands and Very Big Plans

Rate this book

The fourteenth title in the bestselling series, from the brilliantly talented Liz Pichon. This book is VERY important because it contains BISCUITS, BANDS and all my (doodled) plans to make DogZombies the BEST band in the world.

MY VERY BIG 1. Write more songs about VERY important things like...... biscuits

2. Make sure there's a good supply of SNACKS for our band practice

3. Avoid Delia at ALL COSTS, she thinks I've been SNOOPING in her room. (I have.)

4. DOODLE as much as possible, especially if Marcus is watching

The 14th Tom Gates, and while I did have fun reading it I am just not sure if I want to continue the series. It just doesn't seem to go anywhere, it is just the same stuff over and over again. Tom has his doodles, his band, his grandparents are craycray, Delia and him clash ALL THE TIME (until it gets very annoying), his one classmate should just get a good portion of karma to stop him from being such a prick.
In this one I just got tired of Delia and Tom's arguments and how Tom thought it was so good to just go into his sister's room, grab stuff and read her diary. Why? Urgh.
But the choir competition, the recycle orchestra, the doodles, and the music stuff was really fun.

Tom gates book. 😁
This book was the first series that I remember, I started reading it in the fourth grade, although I still haven't finished it since then, but I never thought of it as old and repetitive. The book is very juvenile and I know that I say this every time, but as a teenager, I have the right to introduce juvenile books to others of my age. Of course, I think adults should read this book for variety, because this book is unique.🥺
I myself, when I read a lot of fantasy books, and I get sick of fantasy books or I don't want romantic books anymore, I sit down and read Tom Gates for variety because it helps a lot. And when I go to Reading Slump, this book really gets me out of this state because I really don't get bored. And that's it in short...

This series has still got its rhythm and the kids are still loving it too; which is a positive.

Although it's another great story in the Tom Gates series, it is starting to get a bit tired and is definitely not as good as some of Liz Pichon's earlier works. I was afraid this would happen as book series have a lifespan before they become jaded.
Having said that, Tom is still the likeable and perfectly imperfect character he's always been.
There were too many extra doodling pages in this book if you ask me. As always, Tom makes some interesting observations. Maybe by the next time we meet Tom, he may have grown a little older perhaps? But then again, book characters who age aren't much fun.

I love how the author showed more of brother and sister fights and the pranks they pull at the end (even though it was just a little bit). The song that Tom doodled in was a little bit funny! 8/10

I loved the book because I love a book what makes me fell happy, whenever I fell down I read Tom gates and it makes me fell In a great mood. The ending is a really happy funny ending. Tom gates I've read almost all of them all of them are funny and exiting this one was ok but my personal favourite is super good skills where it teaches you how to drawn Marcus. My least favourite is Absolutely Amazing because its not as funny as all the others the books are all humorous and funny like in one book Delia and Avril go to a singing competition and they come third on the leader bored. These are probably my favourite books EVER.
