Four elite fae warriors. One mortal female. A magical bond they can’t allow—or resist.

It was great! Silly, mindless fun. Just what the doctor ordered.
Lera is an average stable girl, living near the border of the Mystwood, a magical forest that separates the human world from the land of the immortal fae. Power of Five kicks off with four fae warriors - River, Coal, Shade, and Tye - who sweep Lera off her feet and on towards fairyland because ancient fae magic has chosen her as a fifth member in their "quint". Smut and chaos etc ensue.

Buddy read with Reverse Harem Revolution.
What a nice surprise this little book was! Once again, I was tempted by my crew at RHR to try something out, and it was great! Let's be real, this is PURE escapism fantasy, Leave your brain at the door and just go with the flow.
Twenty year old virgin with big, strong, hot fae males, all hundreds of years old. She is tiny and special, but not too special since she is mortal, and doesn't have any powers. She was just "chosen" by magic to complete a quint. A ...more

This book was written like a YA fantasy romance, only with very NA romance scenes. Based on that, I wouldn't recommend this for adults (heroine is too immature, characterizations are weak) or for young adults (one romance scene is too explicit for that audience). This was also my first 'reverse harem' book, and yeah, no thanks to that. The whole concept feels too Mary Sue - for this book specifically all the guys want her because she's SPECIAL even though so far she has not done a singl ...more

So, I totally forgot to write this review (plus a ton others) for September but since I just finished the third book of this series - well, I thought it was the perfect time to write the reviews for this series.

Naturally for a reverse harem this book was steamy, but it had more going for it than that. The characters are well developed and the narration for each is clear and definable.
I really did enjoy the story but while I felt the characters were well rounded and well developed I did feel that the story required something (I cannot put my finger in what was missing for me, I think it just needed tweaking)

1. The characters were all developped and were all likeable. The guys were great and for once I don't think I had a favorite and Lera was a good heroine, a bit weak but with quite a mental strength. She was definitely a perfect fit to her guys, vulnerable yet not afraid.
2. While I found the wold building a bit lacking, I was pulled in the story from the first chapter. It was nicely written and with the right amount of romance and action.

It's Alex so of course it's amazing! I love everything she has written and I am STOKED that she's venturing into my new fave, Reverse Harem! Her world building is fantastic and the characters are amazing and omg all the swoons!!! But it's not over the top it's the right amount of story with swoons added in. This is a perfect book if you want to start a reverse harem series but aren't sure where to start!

Yep, I think I enjoyed this re-read of POWER OF FIVE even more than the first time! I love the high fantasy feel to this reverse harem. It is not often done, so it feels fresh and unique. And I love the characters.
Leralynn is a great main character who somehow believably grows from a sheltered, naive, unlearned indentured servant into a woman of strength, without losing her sweetness or innocence. Or at least showing the potential to become one kickass heroine as the series prog ...more

Amazing!
Thanks to my RH group for this one, as an avid reader of this genre and everyone trying to be an RH author, it is hard to find good ones.
This was a great one. I loved the relationship between Lera and her guys. It had just the right amount of everything.
What i enjoyed the most was that they were open and honest with each other right from the beginning.

I think the storytelling was great but I could not connect with any of the characters. Lera was too meek, I understood the reason being she was a slave she had no say in her life but still...meek. Rivers was just the strong head, Coal the token silent guy, Tye, the comic relief and Shade, the adorable wolf, this almost reads like a disney cartoon.

I'm glad I waited a few days to review this, otherwise I'd probably have said something I'd regret, and you're never supposed to put anything on the internet that you'd be embarrassed for your parents or children to see. ;) But damn was this story hawt. And character-driven. It's the first book in a reverse harem series and not a whole lot happens but it was super engaging and steamy AF. It's not all about the sexy times but rather the bond being forged between four fae warriors and the mortal w

A very enjoyable first book. The characters are all well developed and while I was worried initially that Lera was going to be a total Mary Sue, I found her quite endearing. She had a strong backbone and showed a lot of strength of character which the author was able to balance quite well with her inexperience and vulnerability. Her harem consisted of 4 fae warriors, each with distinct personalities and plenty of complexity to each that makes you want to delve more into their backgrounds as well

**You can see this full review and more at Book Briefs: https://bookbriefs.net**Power of Five is the first book in the new adult fantasy romance series by the same name by an author that is quickly becoming one of my favorites. Alex Lidell has written some amazing young adult action/adventure series, but Power of Five is by far my favorite of hers! Guys, this book sent me into a spiraling book hangover. So much so, after reading 3 other books that I thought would help me move past my obsession o

There are two reasons why I picked up Power of Five:
1. I absolutely loved Cadet of Tildor, Alex Lidell's debut novel.
2. 'Reverse harem' is a new popular trend and when I saw this book was labeled with it I just could not resist. I have read menage erotica before, but one girl and 4 guys. o.O
After finishing the book I felt cheated a bit. After all the frustration of a love triangle romance (times two or three, since she can't decide between four men), there is no sex, but the book ends with a sta ...more

This was a very enjoyable read with a likeable heroine and four male characters who all stood out distinctly and had their own quirks and personality.
Lera is a relatable heroine, who behaves rationally and with dignity throughout. She's is severely outmatched in experience and skill, compared to the fae, but she doesn't bitch or complain, she just makes the best of the situation and therefore gains our respect.

I don't read many of these types of novels as they're very hit or miss, but I decided to give Power of Five a try and I'm so glad I did! Throughout the story, I thought all the men were lovable in their own ways and I actually really liked the heroine. Lera held her own with each of the guys and didn't just stand by while they were being attacked. I hope to see her grow even more in the coming books, both in personality and in strength.

Read for a blog tour but I stand 100% behind my love for this book.
So you may have noticed my recent addiction to reverse harem romances. It really takes romance into the world of fantasy for me, entertaining this idea that I could have multiple gorgeous and interesting men all to myself. Add to that the fact that the men in Power of Five are fae and you've hooked me. There is a reason I call myself the Faerie Queen. I LOVE FAERIES.

I liked this book a lot more than I expected due to the fantasy storyline. I don’t really understand what constitutes a Reverse Harem book these days. Maybe this series will eventually turn into one. This was cute but not to be taken seriously. Tropes that might give a girl heartburn include insta-fated-mate-special-snowflake-virgin-love. Leralynn has been an indentured servant working in the stables since she was young. She is rescued from her abusive master by four fae warriors who have followed powerful magic to her. Evidently, the magic has chosen Lera to be the 5th in their "quint". These guys think the magic has made a mistake since she is merely a mortal human and they are a warrior team created to battle evil things from the Mor. I don’t like where this book ended but I do like that even though it’s an RH there was a lot of substance here. It wasn’t totally cheesy or gross and I love that so far they’ve barely had sex since she’s a virgin. So right now it’s about traveling through the worlds and learning about each character. I enjoy all the characters but I was not a huge fan of River or Coal’s for a while. Eventually though I did end up liking all the males lol.

Thank you Sharon J for recommending this series to me. This was an incredible read. The story was very interesting, and I thought the characters were amazing. Leralynn is the heroine of the story and I thought she was sassy for being mortal. Coal is the serious one, River is the leader, Tye is the flirty one, and Shade is the protective one.
