Uuhh.... I even think I'm being generous with this rating. It's just that the whole plot was silly, and when it does get serious, it's not handled the way it was needed to.
I did smile at certain points with the love interest, but the main character is beyond foolish so... yup, kinda think this read was not good for me.

Okay, so this was a really really cute and funny contemporary story about teenage-love-drama. And normally I’m not all that into the drama, but the way it was written with the addictive writing style, the humor, and the amazing characters.. It just makes this story work. I was hooked right from the start and just didn’t want to stop anymore once started.

I'm a huge, huge fan of Lisa Brown Roberts and I might have gotten a little swoony when I met her at the RWA conference here in San Diego last month. Obviously I jumped at the chance to read and review The Replacement Crush and I was not disappointed. Vivian Galdi is broken hearted after a hot couple of weeks at the end of summer making out with her long-term crush, Jake, on the beach. But when school starts, popular Jake has already moved on to new surfer girl, Claire leaving Vivian not only de

One word to sum up the book is: Adorkable. I especially enjoyed this book, not because of it's sweet, lovely romance but the addition of the humor and nerd references definitely added bonus points for me. I loved how the main character is a book blogger and how she makes references to romance book heroines and herself. I felt they were spot on and I may have once or twice found myself thinking similar thoughts in my personal life.

Vivian, the daughter of a bookstore owner, has lived her life surrounded by books. She even has a book blog where she reviews books... romance books, for the most part. She keeps this part of her life pretty quiet though, as the idea of reading romance books comes with its own insinuations in her beach town. Most of the other students are surfing and hanging out at parties, while she's living it up in her mother's store, head always stuck in a book. (She's totally my kind of girl!)

People may think me harsh when it comes to reviews. But, I like to think that I'm just honest. I don't know about you but I definitely want to read a review that is true to it's word, literally. I don't want to read a review by a reviewer I can't trust to be honest about what they've read--for whatever reason. I don't want to get carried away but there's a point to this.

Ever since I heard that this story followed a book blogger, I NEEDED it in my life. As you know, I myself am a book blogger, so I knew that the protagonist would be my soulmate. So, I placed a hold for it at the library and waited... waited... and waited... until one day, the text came! The text saying that it was ready for pickup. So, I rushed to the library to get it, and then what ended up coming out of the book was pure awesomeness!

Oh goodness, I’m not sure there are enough words in the English language to articulate how much I loved this book. It was all the romance of Lisa Brown Roberts in true form, sprinkled with a Gilmore Girls and The O.C.-like crossover setting, and a nerdy love interest that reminded me of Dylan O’Brien with glasses. Yes—this book was spectacular.

The Replacement crush is a young adult contemporary romance by Lisa Brown Roberts. I heart this book. It has been so long since I have read a standalone young adult romance that was so cute and adorkable that it put a huge smile on my face, like this book did. I really loved this book! I wish there were more books like this. You know the ones where the main character is a book blogger. Or the main character's parent is an author. Or a book that its setting takes place mostly in a bookstore called Murder By The Sea. Or a romance with a really hot McNerd. Oh my damn, hot nerds. Yes, please!
I felt really connected with Vivian. Maybe it was the fact that she was a book blogger. Or maybe it was ...more

Viv and her mother love books: her mother owns a bookstore and writes murder mysteries under a pseudonym, while Viv runs a romance book club and blog. Viv has been having a secret summer romance with Jake, but he won't even acknowledge her existence now that they're starting their junior year of high school. Vivian just has to face it: Jake never thought they were a thing, and it’s better to pretend that their summer “fling” never happened. In order to move on, she decides to build a “safe date” list, choosing boys that would not break her heart and stomp on it.
And when Dallas pops into her life, you might think everything will come into place. But it just doesn’t work for her.

We have Vivian, a smart girl with smarts and a great personality. There is just one problem, after finally landing herself a kiss with her crush, she learns his true intentions on the first day back at school, and realizes she needs to counter-act her hormones and focus on some other potential crushes. One of Vivian's best friends actually tries to slip her other best friend, who is more like a brother to her.

While the happenings that surround these characters are definitely pretty strong (honestly, I was riveted at the climax and my heart rate actually picked up, I was so desperate to know how the romance was gonna work out. I'm not normally a fan of high school romance as I can't really connect and it's not my normal genre, but I have to say, I thoroughly enjoyed it. While at times I wanted to hit Viv for some of the decisions she made and I didn't fully understand her reasoning, I liked that she finally got her senses together towards the end. Dallas was just amazing. I could feel the chemistry and the times he was basically telling Viv he was interested were the times I wanted to ...more

Like 35% of it i really really liked it but i had trouble with some of the scenes that the author wrote, it was like she was another person and i couldn't stand it.
The parts that i like where:
Star Trek references
Nerdy love interest
Easy reading
I didn't liked:
unnecessary scenes to "save" the girl
weird writting

I loved that main character was nerdy, reads books, and has a book blog! The love interest was too adorable!! This is definitely gonna be a favorite contemporary book for me!! The only reason why I took off a star is because I was frustrated with the main character and how she treated poor Dallas the love interest for most of the book but in the end I did forgive her and understood why she did act that way but I was still frustrated nonetheless!

For the longest time, I thought this book was going to need a replacement crush instead of a Replacement Crush. I've had a bit of a weird relationship with this book. When I found this book back in June, I was jumping for joy. I was in the process of my meltdown into everything nerd-hot. I was still fangirling over the latest Marvel movie, screaming for the newest addition of Leah Rae Miller's Nerd book series, and geeking out over all the additions of geeky and nerdy heros in YA literature: Gra

Honestly, I had a hard time getting past our main character, Vivian, and how ridiculous she was through the majority of this book. And even though she’s has some self-awareness and shows some growth, it wasn’t enough for me to like her. I did, however, enjoy the side characters. Maybe if I had read this when I was younger, I would have enjoyed it more. But reading it now...it just kind of annoyed me the majority of the time. This was an instance where I heard about the spinoff book first and realized I had a book to read before that, but my track record with these situations is that I end up enjoying the extra reading, and this book is no exception. Vivian was
completely
oblivious to half of Dallas’ flirtations. Yeah, she noticed some of them, but there were
plenty
of times that he was totally leading her along and she had no idea. It was delightful and painful to watch.
Lisa Brown Roberts still hasn't recovered from the teenage trauma of nearly tweezing off both eyebrows and having to pencil them in for an entire school year. This and other angst-filled memories inspire her to write YA books about navigating life's painful and funny dramas, and falling in love along the way.
