I'm still working my way through 30 Days to Understanding the Bible. I didn't want to quickly read it, but needed to get my review posted and will review what I have read so far and what I gathered from looking ahead in the book.

The writing style is very good. I'm not getting lost in the info as I'm reading and I think it is easy to understand. I like the maps and how things are explained -- it really helps you learn how things in the Bible go together. I also appreciate how each chapter has a

I became a Christian 5 years ago and I still haven’t read the Bible all the way through which meant I was confused a lot when certain things were mentioned at Church or in books or blog posts. I still fully intend to get through the Bible of course and then read parts of it over again. But in the meantime, I want to have an overview of the Bible and what all of it contains.

How It’s to Be Used
30 Days to Understand the Bible is designed to be used for 15 minutes a day for 30 days. I read it in 2.5

Recommends it for: Christians
New Christians and even those who have walked the walk for many years, the Bible can also be difficult to understand at times. 30 Days to Understanding the Bible is a GREAT resource for all who want more understanding of the Bible. 30 Days for 15 minutes a day and not only a greater understanding of the Bible, but a greater appreciation for God's Word. The book is meant for individual study, although it most certainly can be done as a small group study also.

The book is divided into multiple

A good friend gave me the original edition of this book 30 years ago. I was a new Christian with no church background and very little understanding of the Bible. Though I was only 16 at the time, the book gave me a memorable framework for understanding the storyline of the Bible and the main subjects in Christian theology. This framework has served me well through college, seminary, and 20 years of pastoral ministry. I have never found anything else like it, so I was thrilled to receive an ...more

Recommends it for: All Christians
There are many kinds of books for new Christians. Devotionals and Study Bibles both serve a purpose, but I believe that this book would be one of the most helpful of them all. As America (where I live) becomes more and more a "Post-Christian" culture, fewer people have read the Bible, and fewer still know much about it. Sadly, many who would claim to be Christian, saved or not, know very little about the Bible. I often hear the words "I just don't understand it." So, what's the best way of ...more

Is it really possible to understand the Bible by spending just fifteen minutes a day for thirty days? Yes, it is!

I was a bit skeptical when I started reading this book. Granted, I haven’t memorized everything, but I now know far more about the Bible than I did. I read through things at a quicker pace than thirty days so I could review the book, but I will be going back through it again, one day at a time for a month.

30 Days to Understanding the Bible (30th Anniversary Expanded Edition) by Max Anders lives up to its promise of unlocking the Scriptures in 15 minutes a day. I’ve been a Christian for 51 years, a graduate of a Theological Seminary and have taught some type of Bible Study or Sunday School for 40+ years and I wish I had been introduced to this marvelous book 30 years ago when it was first written! I’m thankful I was able to discover it now so I can share it with everyone I

“30 Days to Understanding the Bible” by Max Anders is the perfect tool to help break down what each book is about, key people, geography, and why they’re important. Each chapter is short and perfect to do for about 15 minutes each day. There are also tons of bonus content for those who would like to explore more. There is also a teaching plan for those who wish to teach a class.

This would be best used with new members or a Bible survey class as this covers all areas of the Bible. While I

One of my friends responded to my post about reading “30 Days to Understanding the Bible” by commenting that he could have saved a lot of time and money if he had known about this book before he went to Seminary. Of course, he was being facetious, but he made a good point.

Will this book replace years of Bible study and give someone the equivalent of a Master of Theology? The answer is No. However, for someone who wants a good overview of the Bible and its themes this is a good book. It is also

This month, as a part of a launch team, I took thirty day to read this revised and expanded thirtieth anniversary edition of 30 Days to Understanding the Bible by Max Anders.

Now, I certainly appreciated the broad overview of Scripture, gaining a wholistic perspective of the Bible, through bite sized chapters and sections. This thick book (385 pages) is what it claims to be, just by looking at the cover, a way of understanding the Bible by memorization of themes and the study of characters.

I feel like I have a pretty good understanding of the Bible. I have taught numerous Bible stories to children over the years and attended Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) an international women’s Bible study. So I have a fairly good knowledge base, but there is still so much to learn. I have a much deeper understanding of the Bible after reading Anders’ book.

Anders was inspired to write this book after meeting a woman who wanted help understanding the Bible in a hurry. When he couldn't find any

The Bible can be a confusing book. Written by forty different people over a period of nearly two-thousand years, with histories that aren’t really in chronological order, poetry that doubles as prophecy, prophecy that doubles as history, personal letters that are also discipleship instructions, and accounts of bizarre visions – who can make sense of it?

This is where a book like 30 Days to Understanding the Bible can be so valuable. It walks you through, in simple and manageable steps, the basics

30 Days to Understanding the Bible, by Max Anders, is the 30th-anniversary reprint of a wonderful resource for a fairly quick and yet insightful overview of the Bible. The book is laid out into 30 chapters within 3 sections, intending that each chapter, in a workbook-like format, is a daily read, with a self-check quiz at the end to reinforce the given knowledge. I definitely like the self-check quizzes as one learns better using a number of senses so not just reading but writing out answers ...more

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

I've grown up in the Christian faith. I "know" most of the information in this book. Yet I was very interested in how the same theology I've learned my whole life could be presented in a fresh, new way. Max Anders takes what can be complicated or confusing principles and puts them in understandable phrases. He doesn't get deep into anything, just giving the basic overviews, but it's a nice refresher for

How I wish I’d had Max Ander’s 30 Days to Understanding the Bible.

A blend of a workbook and an introductory guide, 30 Days to Understanding the Bible is a uniquely helpful tool for learning about the Bible. Anders keeps lessons short and simple so that basic facts can be thoroughly grasped.

The style of the book involves:

-Brief, engaging introductions to each chapter
-Review of what’s been learned so far, integrated with what’s about to be learned
-An outline with short paragraphs forming the new

I am a lover of reading for pleasure and knowledge and I like to read many different genres in both fiction and non-fiction. I was especially excited to see that a new launch team was being formed for Max Anders’s newly revised book of 30 Days to Understanding the Bible and I realized that this was the perfect opportunity for me to learn more about God's Word. I wasn't wrong and I certainly wasn't disappointed with this 30th anniversary expanded edition! At the beginning the author says "...if ...more

30 Days to Understanding the Bible ( has been a delight to read. It will provide many opportunities for discussion. In fact, I mentioned the book to some people in my church and they will be ordering their own copy. I have not promoted a book with such enthusiasm in a long time.
Here are some of the reasons this volume is extraordinary.
In 30 days, you will understand the Bible better.

"30 Days to Understanding the Bible: Unlock the Scriptures in 15 Minutes a Day" is an excellent book to help people that may be struggling with understanding the Bible and what it is all about. Mind you, this book is by no means a tool to make you an expert in all things about the Bible. However, it can be a resource for you to spend around 15 or 20 minutes per day for 30 days and have a very good grasp on the who, what, where and when of the Bible.

I would recommend this book to any newer

30 Days to Understanding the Bible really gives you an over-view of what the Bible is all about. It's sort of like the Bible in a nutshell but there are some wonderful tools to help you retain what you've read and to understand it, as well. I personally liked the writing down of the things I learned in different ways so I could instantly recall what I had learned after doing all these exercises. It's a wonderful way to learn and retain!

This is a wonderful book for new believers and long-time

When I first saw this title I was like some other people, I thought there is no way to understand the Bible in 30 days. But as I started looking through the book, and all of the different features there, I begin to understand a little better where this author was coming from. And as I started going through the chapters, the different exercises in each chapter, my understanding of my Bible begin to come together and make a difference. Ive taken a few pictures to show you

30 Days to Understanding the Bible by Max Anders promises to help you understand the Bible in 15 minutes a day. I can honestly say, Mr. Anders’s book does just that. The book is divided in sections that make it possible to study/read in 15 minutes a day. The way that Mr. Anders writes is great in that he breaks down key points in understandable terms. I personally couldn’t put this book down; once I started learning I could not stop turning these pages. In between sections, Mr. Anders developed ...more

I wish I had discovered this book earlier in my Christian walk. I appreciated the overview of scripture, seeing where and how things line up. This book is exactly what it claims to be, a means of understanding the Bible. This is not a commentary but acts more as a summary, giving the reader some major guideposts from which to gain an understanding of the Bible in the broad view. Following the biblical outline, the author covers 10 major doctrines of the Church universal. My two favorite sections ...more

While this book is designed so that it can be used by an individual over 30 days, taking only 15 minutes per day, there are other ways it can be used as well. For instance, I am using it with a Bible study group as an addition to our regular weekly study, covering one day per week. There are charts to fill out and questions to answer as you go along. That helps you to really take in the information. If you go to the website, there are also downloadable resources to use with a group.

"As little as 15 minutes a day for 30 days." Though I was a bit skeptical going into this book thinking that's a huge promise to make, by the end of chapter 2, I quickly became a willing reader and student.

If you discipline yourself to read and follow the teaching in each chapter, in 30 days you will most certainly unlock the Scriptures and understand the Bible better than you do right now, no matter where in your journey of faith you're currently at. Who can't find 15 minutes a day to greatly

The original book has been around for 30 years, but I can't remember if I read it before or not. I have read a lot of books in my life.

This book is more of a reference type of book, but it is written in an interesting and easy to read manner...which is not always the case with reference books.

The book is split up into 7 sections:

The New Testament Era

10 Great Doctrines of the Bible

I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I'm typically very skeptical when it comes to claims like, "Unlocking X in a certain number of minutes/days." To me, such taglines usually communicate, at best, a farce; at worst, a scam. Thankfully, Anders' book is neither. In his opening, he promises that if you give him 15 minutes of day to read each chapter, you'll attain a significant grasp of what the Bible is. Quite the claim, to be sure!

For the most part, each chapter follows the same format. One

30 Days to Understanding the Bible introduces the major people, places, and events of the Bible before briefly describing what Anders believes are the 10 major doctrines that all sub-doctrines fall under. Each chapter takes approximately 15 minutes to complete and involves a short story (usually secular in nature), a brief summary of that day's section of the Bible, and a few pages of fill-in-the-blank memory work. The memory work seemed extreme and tedious for my learning style.

I wish the book

If you are new to Christianity, this book acts as a foundational resource; if you've been a Christian for a while, this book acts as a refresher to the basics of Christianity.

As I read through the book, including the updated extra pages, I appreciated the refresher to the basics tenets of my faith. There are definitely areas that are extremely simplified, meaning that you really need to go deeper in order to thoroughly grasp what

I really liked this book. The bible can be confusing to some. This helps you navigate your way through the bible. But also much more. It takes you through the different Eras of when the bible happened and what was going on historically. The overview of its doctrines God, Jesus, Holy Spirit, etc. It's definitely something to read for the new believer but good for the seasoned believer to be reminded of the overall stories and big ideas of the bible and what was going on historically. When considering the Bible, do you confuse the ark of the covenant with the ark of Noah? Or mix up Jericho with Jeroboam? Do you think Sodom and Gomorrah were husband and wife? Do you know how the Old Testament is different from the New Testament, but how they tell the same story? Do you get uncomfortably nervous when you’re asked in a group to look up a verse in the book of Zephaniah?
