Dannika Dark! I have followed this author from the beginning and the books just get better and better. I love her writing style. With every book she brings more to the table.
I'm not going to go into detail with this review so if you haven't started reading this series then start.
Just a few tidbits though.... Raven and Christian are hilarious with their banter. I love the witty comebacks that they are throwing at each other throughout the book. Their chemistry, ooh la la! Enough said, I think.

I tried to make this one last, but oh man Blackout was so intense, with developments surrounding Christian and Raven's memory wipe. It all started out so nicely with some toe curling moments before the city suffers a massive blackout and things turn deadly. Assassins, plots against the higher authority and Christian as a member of the clergy..oh lordy.

Well stink! I was SO looking forward to this book! This series has risen to the very top of my all-time favorite lists. Unfortunately, this installment just doesn’t have the depth of character, the riveting heart-stopping action or the I-can’t-put-it-down aspect every previous book has had.
In fact, 90% is just kind of... boring! There was hardly an action scene in it and the ones that were there were very lack-luster. It read much more like a regular mystery. Now I have nothing against mysteries ...more

Blackout definitely had a lot of tension! And action. And my heart almost beat out of my chest (and throat!) more than once.

A Suspense Filled & Edge of the Seat Read!! 😳🔥⚔
Well, I took my time reading 'Blackout' as I wanted to savour it and I'm so glad I did!! 😀
Members of the Higher Authority are being murdered in this installment. Keystone are not asked to investigate but are tasked with identifying one of the victims 😳 Victor tasks Christian & Raven with this job. It's tricky, sensitive & political - You have to wonder what their Leader was thinking sending these two 🤔 They're both as subtle as charging Rhinos in a ...more

3.5 Somewhat disappointed stars
I read Blackout in the audio version. I think Nicole Poole’s voice is a bit too mature for the Raven character, but she read well and I like her character voice transitions, so I rather have that.
I knew going into this book I wouldn’t get too much Raven and Christian saga. I mean, it’s a slow burn series. I hadn’t read the last book in some time so I kind of forgot a few elements but after a few hours I felt like I was somewhat caught up.

Exceptional!
Riveting, explosive, full of twists, turns, and complete surprises, Blackout delivers the full impact of the Crossbreed series in a single book.
This book showcases the incredible story-weaving of Dannika Dark in all its raw glory and reaffirmed why I am a fan for life. Her world building and periodic soulful musings from characters are pretty unparalleled and spectacular.

Raven go taken on quite a ride in Blackout - between the city losing power for a bit, having to transfer the authorities to safe places, and also meeting up with her Maker again, she was a very busy woman.

Blackout is Dannika Dark’s latest in her Crossbreed series about a paranormal group that does work for an organization called Keystone that work for the Breed higher authority. They are tasked with anything regulators, otherwise known as Breed police, either can’t or won’t do when supernatural beings cause major problems or messes. They live in the city of Cognito, the place that attracts supes like bees are attracted to honey. Humans know nothing about the Breed world for the most part.

While I initially enjoyed this series.. it seems as more books are written it has stalled to nothing. There is barely progression of a plot, and barely any questions are answered. Although we did find out about ravens maker/creator (in book 4). The other characters still have no backgrounds and are uninteresting to read, I don't know nor do I care about Gem, Blue, Wyatt, etc. because it seems like they are after-thoughts of the series with too much dialogue thrown in... you don't feel connected

This is the 5th book in the series and honestly may be one of my favorite! You do need to read them in order as the story line continues book to book. Once you know that, sit back and enjoy. The author brings to life an interesting set of characters that leave you wanting more on each one. I would be thrilled if each member of Keystone got their own HEA. But, we are at the mercy of the author on this so I agree to go with the flow.

This book was bittersweet in the best way possible! Every time I thought I knew what to expect I had the pleasure of having the rug pulled out from under me. Don't get me wrong, I was loving every minute of it! I also adored how well interlaced the storylines are. Holy freaking cow! Just when I think Dannika can't tug at our hearts or make us laugh out loud more... she does it again! The fifth installment in the Crossbreed series, BLACKOUT does not disappoint!
BLACKOUT is filled with action, mystery, laughs, sexiness and moments that will have you doing the "ugly cry". Then when you're done.... you just want to know 1.) when the next title releases and 2.) how you're supposed to listen/read another book now? Every single time I finish one of Dannika's boo ...more

Not my favorite of the series
There were some interesting things about it and I'm glad it worked out with Patrick, although you could argue it was a simple resolution. Didn't care how things ended up with Raven and Christian. Those 2 can't get their stuff together. It needs a resolution soon one way or another. I'm not as excited about the next book unfortunately. ...more

Sigh...
Why oh why do I let Dannika do this to me? I dive headfirst into the new book and I finish it in no time flat then I’m left wanting more and more. I seriously can’t recommend this author and this series enough. I’ve been in love with all of Dannika Dark’s characters since my first of her books and this series I have to admit is my favorite yet. If you like urban fantasy with a little romance on the side then pick up book one in this series and then pick up book two then book three and so ...more

I received this book for free from Tantor Audio in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.I thought I would give myself a few days to calm down before I wrote this review. I'm still a little sore about the ending but I thought I could at least talk about the rest of the story.
Originally the Keystone crew is working a case involving deaths of some higher authority members, but when the city is suddenly claimed by a blackout, the job

The last chapter is what elevated this book from a 2 star to a 3 star read for me, and that makes me sad. I have LOVED this series up until this book. Aside from being kinda boring, I was really annoyed with every character in the book. There are quite a few storylines going on in this series, and the ONE that I really wanted to advance--the one that has kept me following along like a damn groupie--is the one that didn't advance much at all. If anything, I feel like we have taken several steps b

Love the characters, humor, banter...especially how they're done on the audible version. Definately could use a brief summary of characters & breed/abilities because I was lost initially trying to remember names, nicknames, constantly thinking how now who was that? Especially when reading a number of fantasy books. The push pull plot is getting a bit thin and old. The secondary characters need some growth, romance. Book five and I'm still waiting for something that resolves the main chatacters a

Keystone is pulled into a case that involves the murder of members of the high breed authority. Someone is seating members that believe in the same thing as he does...the upcoming extermination of the humans. Only the blackout causes a snag in the chaos that's being set in motion.

Better than previous offerings in the series although I thought the ending was a bit lame. I'm glad I waited to listen to this series, and I'm glad I could just go right into the next book which picks up where the last ends.
