Team building takes on a whole new meaning—when work is the last thing on your mind . . .
The Illinois wilderness should be a relaxing change of pace for advertising superstar Ben Stitzer. But he has one goal during this company retreat: proving to his boss how far he’ll go to succeed. Even if it means having to team up with the uber competitive, exasperatingly attractiv

I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. Thank you.

I wanted to love this story. Two people who are attracted to each other who are lost in the woods? There are so many directions this story can take. Unfortunately this story was just meh for me.

The bickering that went on between Ben and Avery got old fast. It was so adolescent and screechy. Yes I said screechy, they just kep

Thanks to NetGalley for an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This romance had a cute premise of a wilderness team-building activity that went very wrong. Not only did the main characters get thrown together in an uncomfortable pair and have to work together against their wills, but both of them are urbanites with no outdoor experience. The best adjective I can come up with for this book is "cute." And I'll admit that the book wasn't bad. I can't really put my finger on w
This author is one of my favorites, so I was excited to read this new book. Sadly I'm giving it up halfway through. The bickering, OMG, so much bickering between Ben and Avery. It got old so very fast. I get that there is some sort of rivalry, that the trek through the wildness was supposed to make them come out as friendly co-workers and probably lovers. But I can't. The digs about what happened at work, Avery hiding so many things, then how they seemed to purposely hinder each other during the ...more

What originally began as a team building experiment in the workplace turned into an unexpected journey about discovering who your true self is. An experiment on team building unites a city guy and woman afraid of the outdoors in this humorous adventure meant to teach coworkers how to work together. These coworkers experience highs and lows while hiking through the wilderness. The elements of nature expose weaknesses offering a side not visible in the workplace. It’s a head to head battle between ...more

Lindy Zart is such a unique kind of storyteller. She never gives you the same old same old and her characters tell their tale in the most real kind of way. With Love Without a Compass, Zart proves once again that she thinks out of the box and we are rewarded with an untamed creativity that is hers alone.

Both Ben and Avery are clearly stubborn people. Their pairing as part of a 'team building' exercise for the advertising company they both work for, gave them pause more than once as their trek in

I really liked this book. I love the enemies to lovers to trope, so this one was right up my alley.

Ben was a great character. I liked that he wasn't conventionally macho. He had a queasy stomach when it came to blood and he had a really big issue cutting up fish. It was nice to see a H that wasn't good at everything.

Avery was also a pretty good character. I'm still a little confused by her personality, though. I know she was trying to figure herself out and I think I have her most

*Disclaimer: I received a review copy from NetGalley

Love Without a Compass by Lindy Zart is the story of two advertising coworkers who get stuck together on a company retreat. Unfortunately for both Ben and Avery, their boss is a bit eccentric, and the company retreat is a weekend of survival in the Illinois wilderness. What should be a fairly simple team building exercise of hiking in the wilderness turns out to be a life-threatening experience when the two end up lost and without most of their

Hang onto your seats and get ready for this ride. Goats, Crows and Bears oh my. Love without a compass was brilliantly done. I love the comedy with nature mixed in with the little love/hate between Ben and Avery. This is all about team building at its best and you find yourself so drawn to Ben and Avery you wonder what really happened between them. And you when you finally find out you feel for Avery and understand more why she did what she did. Ben and Avery have this zing of chemistry that you ...more

A truly unique book only comes around so often. It's one that I can't put down, only to feed the kids, and don't want to leave the characters. Ben and Avery, adversaries in their marketing firm, are paired up for an extreme wilderness adventure. Many mishaps and animal scares later they realized some really life changing revelations. These characters are fun, real and challenging but I love them. I wasn't sure of the connection to the first book but we get to see Opal, Ben's friend, for a little ...more

An enjoyable enemies to lovers story. The story and characters kept me engaged with their journey in the wilderness and I was excited to see how the story was going to play out. It took me a bit to figure out Ben and Avery and did feel that they went back and forth a lot, but I also think it kept that rivalry story true. Some of the story towards the end was a little far fetched for me, but by that point I was so vested in the story that I truly didn't care that much. Overall, an enjoyable read.

The basic premise was great - two work competitors are stuck in the wilderness and must rely on each other to survive and eventually fall in love. Unfortunately there were some flaws in the execution. The wildlife encounters were completely unrealistic, as was the encounter with the hunters towards the end. The characters were not believable and relatable. I was disappointed as the blurb from the publisher was very promising!

Love Without A Compass by Lindy Zart is an enemies to lovers book. Avery and Ben are co-workers. When they are sent into the Illinois wilderness for team building exercises they both learn a great deal about each other. Avery manages to turn their little team building exercise into a full blown wilderness adventure. These two characters have an explosive chemistry that you can feel building. Their banter is super charged. This is a great book and will keep you engaged from start to finish.

I'm not sure if I could do a team building exercise in the middle of nowhere with a co-worker that hates me, and that's what made this for a fun, yet on the edge kind of read. You never know what you'll encounter in the wilderness getting close to death and literally facing some of your biggest fears. It had angst, danger, anger, passion, and had lots of quotes to live by. This was an enjoyable read.

This was a pretty good read it is the second book in the series but reads as a standalone. When Ben and Avery go on a company retreat they are paired up together which is not great as they completely clash with each other and are always competing to outdo each other when things go wrong and they end up lost with next to no supplies will these two be able to work together and stay safe. This is a really fun quirky book

I was asked by the author for an honest review.

I had trouble getting into this one because the characters seemed really immature in both their thoughts and actions and there was lots of dishonesty and regret on both sides.

That being said, I thought it was presented in a humorous way, so I kept reading.

I thought the name of the book was creative and I liked the casual writing style.

Lindy Zart is a USA TODAY bestselling author that has been writing since she was a child. Luckily for readers, her writing has improved since then. She lives in Wisconsin with her family. Lindy loves hearing from people who enjoy her work. She also has a completely natural obsession with wine, coffee, peanut butter, bloody marys, and pizza.
