Well, if you ever want a compendium of every type of magic creature that ever existed in literature, this book is it. Fairies, trolls, magicians, wizards, sorcerers, vampires, werewolves, magic swords, a dwarf, dragons, griffins, pegasi, mages with a whole range of psychic skills, demons, gods, and an army of ungodly creatures created especially for your pleasure. All superimposed on a full-scale continent-wide Medieval setting full of intrigue, royal match-making, and treachery.

Creatures of horror have attacked the kingdom of Psykoria, and even those who are untrained to fight have found themselves in the midst of battle. How many will die before Snarmis is able to step into his destiny and destroy the monsters?

Champion’s Rising is a fast paced, action-packed adventure with an unlikely hero. Snarmis may appear to be an ideal protagonist, with unnatural height and strength, but the poor boy has zero skills on the battlefield, no matter how hard he desperately tries. Th

The main character of this story is Crown Prince Snarmis, a giant of a man, kind and genial of nature. He has the foundations of a likeable character and a hero, although he is often found wanting in certain aspects of his life. He tries to please those around him but always seems to come up short - much to the displeasure of his father, the King of Psykoria  . For a fantasy book, this tale affords the whole package of magical and mythological creatures. From fairies to trolls to dragons and peg ...more

Goes down as another off my 2019 Bookworm Bingo Challenge – A book with a dragon in it. Warrior one called Rakkan that fights with King Breetor of Psykoria. An interesting fantasy read that takes you on quite the journey.

The last great battle was the War of Good and Evil, some would say the war was over but it looks like evil has found a way back to cause chaos. Seems sword training with Snarmis needs to be improved stat if he wants to be as good as his father.

Snarmis, the Prince of Psykoria, lo

An exciting, magical and most importantly fun fantasy novel. Following the coming-of-age of Prince Snarmis, and his journey to become a seasoned warrior, Champion's Rising is nothing but glorious fantasy through-and-through. At times a bit over-the-top, with flavors of old-school DnD-Claymore's made an amazing world here, a magical and beautiful place, one would which I thoroughly did enjoy. ...more

I was provided a print copy of Champion's Rising by S. F. Claymore for review.

Champion's Rising is the first installment in the Champion of Psykoria series. Our hero, Prince Snarmis, is the less than intimidating son of the powerful King Breetor. Although he has no problem succeeding his father when the time comes, he is less than skilled as a warrior. Much to the disappointment of his father, and therefore, himself.

Naturally, events conspire to force the Prince to basically man up (It would be
