not bad but not great. at times it would spend too much time talking history, which isn't really so bad, but i already knew the history stuff so it was a bit boring! but that's what skimming is for. i also disliked that occasionally it would mention authors/books without giving much detail about what the books were like. still, it's got a lot of books in it, and the appendix of mini-biographies is nice.

it does a good job discussing women authors without overstating their achievements.

it talked a little too much about drama for my interest but i'm not really too into drama, and if you are it's probably not such a bad thing.
