The Trinity Alps are a fabulous high-montane region in northern california, just south of the Russian and Marble Mountain wildernesses. The area has become more restricted to use in recent years, but still warrants exploration. My favorite hikes are in the Canyon Creek Lake and Granite Lake/Seven Up Peak areas.

good information, but if you are anything like me, you can take at least one full day off the amount of time required for each trip.
