REVIEW :--
✍️📚📚Caroline Clemens Three King Mackerel and a Mahi Mahi is a bold, unexpected delight a literary concoction as vibrant and unpredictable as its title suggests. From the arresting cover the stark hovering above whimsical marine imagery) to the last page, Clemens crafts a narrative that defies easy categorization, blending elements of adventure, humor, and poignant introspection.💯💯
✍️📚📚 this is a story about the unpredictable tides of life how plans unravel, how chance encounters redefine us, and how the things we try to "cancel" often resurface in surprising ways. The titular mackerels and mahi-mahi serve not just as quirky symbols but as anchors (pun intended) for a tale that’s both absurdist and deeply human. Clemens’ prose is sharp and kinetic, evoking the salt-sprayed chaos of a fishing boat one moment and the quiet depths of personal reckoning the next. 💯💯
✍️📚📚The characters are irresistibly vivid, from the weary but wise-beyond-their-years protagonists to the eccentric side players who populate their world. Clemens has a gift for dialogue that crackles with authenticity, whether it’s a heated argument over a fishing net or a tender confession under the stars. Themes of resilience, community, and the messy beauty of second chances ripple through the narrative like waves. 💯💯
✍️📚📚 the book is as playful as its premise, shifting between laugh-out-loud absurdity and moments of startling emotional clarity. It’s a testament to Clemens’ skill that she can pivot from a slapstick seafood mishap to a meditation on loss without missing a beat. The result is a story that feels alive, buoyant, and utterly original.
✍️📚📚Three King Mackerel and a Mahi Mahi* is for readers who crave something offbeat yet deeply satisfying—a book that dances on the edge of realism and whimsy while never losing sight of the heart beneath its scales. Caroline Clemens has reeled in something truly special here. 💯💯
Three King Mackerel and a Mahi Mahi by Caroline Clemens is book one in Southern Surveillance books. In this book, the story literally starts off with a bang and doesn't slow down until the last page.
The main characters meet during the use of a dating service, where they took an immediate liking to each other. Only the place they went to for their first date was used for a deal of some sort going wrong, and the main characters driving off with just over six thousand dollars. The leading male character shows the leading female character a badge and tells her he used to be a cop, but doesn't tell her exactly what he does anymore.
They hit it off almost, and she and she quickly introduces him to her children who get along just as well as she does.
As the story progresses, the leading female has several instances where she thinks she is being followed, but is not able to prove it, so as a result does not say anything to anyone. The leading male is working on a case where a woman was being spied on by through her phone, including people from the Government. Three King Mackerel is most definitely a book that teaches open communication in a relationship is what keeps it alive, literally.
