I enjoyed this book. This has always been a fun series because of Laura's psychic premonitions, I like that sort of thing because it adds a slight twist to the story. But now Dianne Harman has stepped it up a level with the new puppy Patron. I love the way he knows that Marty was in trouble, it reminds of how our dogs always knows when it is dinner time. The mystery was good with a number of different suspects, I enjoy how the author makes you suspect someone and the n you find out they have an alibi. The characters are interesting but as I said Patron steaks the show in this book.
When you come from nothing and win it big people are going to resent you especially when you can afford to out his them on the art work they were coveting but is that really a reason for murder? Marty is about to find out, her latest client has just been killed by a very unusual murder weapon and Marty receives some unexpected help from Patron in narrowing down the suspect list. She needs to work out what he is trying to tell her or warn her about and to do that she has to eliminate the others first. But is she right to listen to her dog? Her sister Laura also gets some advice from a strange source.
I liked the narrator. She has read a number of books for this author and is always a pleasure to listen to.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

It has often been said that people who win very large lottery prizes--well their lives are never the same--some get worse--some better, in this case the winner came from a dirt poor background and turned those millions into philanthropic giving and collecting antiques. The only family she had left was a drunken uncle and a brother who was either dead or in prison! She moved to Palm Springs, California. Melissa became the "Queen of arts and antiquity collecting and philanthropy which did not make some of the other residents very happy.

She is ultimately murdered--but by who? It is up to Marty, her detective husband, her psychic sister and her new little boxer (who just might be psychic himself!) to figure it all out!

Of course food figures prominently in this book and the recipes can be found in the back!!

Dianne’s mysteries are always enjoyable! They are fun and easy to read cozy mysteries. There’s always a lot of different suspects and motives. And humor and dogs. And she usually includes some recipes. In this book, Marty is heading out to do an appraisal for a wealthy woman who collects art and antiques. But Marty finds that the woman has been killed. And this woman has a background. She wasn’t always wealthy. Since Marty discovered her body, she’s compelled to help in the investigation. Marty’s sister adds to the mix with her psychic abilities. And Marty’s dog seems to sense trouble. I listened to this book as an audiobook and I enjoyed the narration.

Marty gets involved in another murder, again. She’s at a client’s home to appraise the gals art work and the client is found dead - murdered. But who is the culprit. Marty’s husband is the detective on the case and her sis, Laura is a psychic. They are on the case and Marty’s new pup, boxer, Patron is showing signs of being a psychic pup! I like the location and all the characters in this series. There are always great recipes at the end of the book. This book is an easy read and so very enjoyable. The clues in the story lead you to the killer. I can’t wait for the next book!

I have read several of Dianne's series, Murder and Mega Millions is a good murder mystery.
The compound is a great meeting place, I love the fact the people that live there, have their dinner prepared for them each night, Albeit it is new dishes and they are guinea pigs, but the food sounds scrumptious. AND! the recipes are in the back of the books, another plus. Anywho, read the books, they are good, clean books. NO blood and cuts, bad language, sexual encounters, just good plain reading.
Thanks Dianne Harman, for such good reading.

I can't be the only one that caught this. In the previous book Lucy named her dog Herman and Marty knew that. In this book Marty acted like she never asked Lucy about her new pup and his name is Killer.

Also after all this time you would think Marty would start taking Laura seriously instead of blowing her off. That does bother me.

Other than that I do love this series. The books are interesting, fast reads, I usually finish in one sitting.

I am beginning to learn the books in this series are very similar. There is a murder and about 3 people who wished that person's death to happen. There's a "psychic" dog and the wife who seems to solve most of her husband's investigations while she photographs art and antiques. Even though the plots are always similar, these are still enjoyable enough. Just easy to sometimes figure out who committed the murder.

When does wealth become something to kill for?

Another cozy mystery from Dianne Harman. This time in Palm Springs among those for whom collecting art and being a philanthropist is the most important goal in their life. Can dogs be psychic? Maybe... A fun read.

Another great read

From the onset you dread what you know is probably going to happen. Then you are taken to meet despicable family members and nasty socialites. It becomes a toss up as to the killers identity. Meeting a new doggie member is very enjoyable!

Great read

I was sad that Melissa Ross was killed. As a Roma tic type I would have liked her to have a really great life and meet her prince charming. And her brother and uncle moved to rehab centers. It was good that life worked out for Isabella. Wonderful recipes.

Collector murder

I loved this very interesting account of a murdered art collector. She had a rags to riches history that led to jealousy. This book brings to light the fact that humans as well as animals can have some psychic ability.

Great

This mystery is finished with the same satisfaction that I have come to associate with Dianne Harman's books. I have never heard of a psychic dog, but now I am a believer. Well done!

6th book in this cozy mystery series finds Marty and her husband Detective Jeff solving another murder mystery. A woman who won the lottery years ago and made millions is found poisoned. Who killed her and why? Several likely suspects must be examined before they find the murderer.

Psychic dog??? Just seemed a little too far-fetched. However, the storyline was entertaining. I hate to quit a series.
