Everyone was pretty much horrible and by the end of the book, I was rooting for the volcano.

Ok, where to begin with this one?

1) Suffered a serious case of insta-love (don't tell me they're in love, show me)

2) Any hint of inter-personal conflict was solved immediately

3) I really hate when authors solve the issue of their protagonists owning slaves by just being like "It's all fine! They're just like family!" Look - I know examining the power dynamics of slavery runs counter to the more escapist aspects of romance, but just hand-waving it all away is pretty gross.

A beautiful, historical tale

This is a must read for any lovers of the ancient world. Carmela’s words make Ancient Pompeii come back to life, complete with love, comedy, and of course, tragedy. Instead of being a tale of sorrow, however, she turns the story into one of hope and future happiness.
