The Tae Kwon Do Handbook

The martial art of Taekwondo mainly employs kicks, punches, strikes and evasive techniques. It has been developed from a unique historical and philosophical background, and its origins can be traced to Korean martial arts that date back over 5000 years.

The Taekwondo Handbook looks at the history and development of Taekwondo, how it compares to other martial arts, grading systems and what you should expect from a class. It then looks at fitness, and includes a variety of warm-up exercises and meditation. The main part of the book demonstrates the key techniques of Taekwondo – all illustrated with step-by-step photography. These techniques include stances, punches, hand and elbow strikes, kicks and blocks, as well as the poomsae and sparring.

An invaluable introduction for beginners, as well as handy reference guide for more experienced martial artists, The Taekwondo Handbook is essential reading for all Taekwondo enthusiasts.
