The Taylor family thought they were prepared for everything… but they never could have expected their readiness would make them target #1.
Steve Taylor did everything he could to protect his family from what he saw as a weakening dollar and looming economic collapse. But when disaster finally arrives, the Taylors find that they’re not prepared for the enemies that emerge within their own suburban subdivision.
The neighbors and HOA are already sore at the Taylors, but as things go from bad to worse, Steve and Amber Taylor must do all they can to keep their family healthy, happy and safe. Realizing they can’t survive alone, they work to mend relationships. But there’s another community out there preying on the fringes of the subdivision. The real question Will help arrive before time runs out?
I really enjoyed this book .And I have never left a review on a book before other than giving it how many stars I thought it was worth .But this book came out in 2018 it is now 2022 and there is still no 2 nd book for this story which when I bought it I thought it was a single book story. But it ended with a cliff hanger and to many lose ends.So will there ever be second book to this story?
This book is just another version of so many others. Nothing new and the author can't seem to keep track of his characters or their relationship to the protagonist. The author should stick his political jabs where the sun doesn't shine. Waste of time. Don't bother!
This author always does a great job with his characters and enough detail about how they are prepping/surviving without bogging down the story. This scenario borders on quite scary in the current state of affairs. My biggest quibble are some errors, particularly where James (the pastor) and Joseph were being confused in action and dialogue just after the destruction of the church. I hope there is going to be a book two!
An excellent post apoc book with a new spin that involves a slow economic collapse. The family prepares but the community doesn't and while they managed to get food for their church didn't get ready in any other way. Yeah, certainly fairly realistic, and many mistakes and lessons to learn to be had.
I'd recommend it as a more realistic kinda post apoc book. But for me personally I feel not nearly enough spirituality and agrarian organizing.
A very relevant story in today’s world. I am hoping that Boyd writes another and turns this into a series. This shows the difference, starkly, between those who plan and those who do not. This will play out many times over if this scenario ever happens. Loved the characters in this book. Highly recommend this book. A good read
Craven has a masterful way with words. We follow the Taylor family and their friends through trying times. The economy hits the bucket, and their neighbors have turned spiteful words and HOA proceedings into a fine art form. I can barely wait for the next book to come out.
Craven writes an action packed story that you never want to end. The story is great and the interplay between the characters keeps everything interesting. Really a good job!
Finally a good story that is not a long drawn out trilogy. This story may continue but the meat is all there, shit happens & we need to prepare. Depending on others to save does not always work, we need to be responsible for ourselves.
I could not put this book down. Very relevent to current events in 2022. Not only is the story fascinating, there were good ideas to implement. My only negative comment is that proofreading was lacking. Several times the wrong person was mentioned or quoted.
I need a next novel to know what happened! Please write it fast!!! Tell everyone there is hope even if you do not have tons of money and guns! Make sure there are survivors.
