When one of Harry McCabre’s high school friends is murdered, she is quickly fingered as the prime suspect. When in short order a second person is murdered, she becomes a fugitive from justice and is forced to go on the run. Soon she and Jarrett decide to go in search of the real culprit, all the while being chased by the police, creating a very awkward situation for Darian Watley, Harry’s Scotland Yard boyfriend. Meanwhile, Jarrett and Deshawn have their hands full with the Ukrainian baby boy they’ve adopted, who proves to be more of a challenge than they anticipated. And when Jarrett is suspected of aiding and abetting a fugitive, Deshawn is left to take care of their new charge all by himself while Harry and Jarrett flee the city. Luckily the intrepid Wraith Wranglers get help in the form of Harry’s family, ready to stand by her side in this, her darkest hour.
Nic has a background in political science and before being struck by the writing bug worked odd jobs around the world (including but not limited to massage therapist in Mexico, gardener in Italy, restaurant manager in India, and Berlitz teacher in Belgium).
When he’s not writing he enjoys curling up with a good (comic) book, watching British crime dramas, French comedies or Nancy Meyers movies, sampling pastry (apple cake!), pasta and chocolate (preferably the dark variety), twisting himself into a pretzel doing morning yoga, going for a run, and spoiling his big red tomcat Tommy.
He lives with his wife (and aforementioned cat) in a small village smack dab in the middle of absolutely nowhere and is probably writing his next ‘Mysteries of Max’ book right now.
Awesome. Okay the books get more zany and OTT with each subsequent one. However for pure fun this is a great read. When she starts passing out and waking to find herself covered in blood and dead bodies around her, she knows that it won't be long before she's arrested for murder. Can the ghosts help her make sense of what is happening and why. With an arrest outstanding and a new "baby" on the scene she has no other option but to go on the run with just one of the usual team. Can the two of them use their skills to end bloodbath. It was obvious who the "baddie" was but the tongue in cheek plot kept you reading. Great to see all the characters and their growth. Fun, zany and quirky.
The latest book has fun, adventure and a quest. Harry is accused of a triple homicide. Her picture spread over London like the fog. Jarrett and Deshawn learn they have been mislead in their quest to adopt--this is a real kicker!! Harry learns more about her parents and grandmother as well as ghosts in general. I'm waiting for the next book--according to the last chapter of Ghostlier Things, there will be more changes in our well developed characters and more twisty plots 😎
Very good twist which in my opinion is what makes a mystery worth reading. I've read the others in the series because the characters are charming from book one through book six, but the outcome is kind of predictable but worth the read on a cozy afternoon.
An enjoyable read. We learn more about Harry's past and family. Parts of the plot I liked. The humor is good . Some of the plot I just couldn't see how Harry could come out if her predicament. I like the series.
