Years ago, I grabbed hold of Ephesians 3:20-21: "Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen." I wanted to believe it, to see God actually do more than I could ask or imagine in me and through me. But, like all of us, I struggled with doubt. After all, I'm just me, and I know all my failures, shortcomings, and tendencies to chose wrongly.
I've come far over the years, battling myself, my heart, and my mind to accept and believe those verses more and more, but I also recognize that I need to guard against apathy. To continue to push forward to believe even more, to look for greater things. This book supports my efforts to be ever more mindful of the things of God, His power in my life, and His willingness to fulfill Ephesians 3:20-21 in me and around me. Pastor Houston cheers me on, asking me to think bigger and then providing examples from his years of ministry that what I'm hoping for isn't outside God's ability.
