There are 3 novellas in this book. Max Brand was prolific in the magazines before 1941 and wrote many novellas for the magazines. The first is "Above the Law" which is about an actress that tries to collect a reward fraudulently and is wounded by the actual desperado. He carries her back to the hideout. The second is "One Man Posse; a Sleeper Story. Sleeper is a shiftless kid that captures an outlaw. He uses the reward to buy a horse. He then has to recapture the outlaw and is confronted with a second outlaw. The final story is "Timber Line" which is a case of mistaken identity where a man is passing through and is identified mistakenly as a well known criminal. All stories are action packed with a good plot.
